The wierd weather has got my sinuses to draining

Thursday, February 09, 2012

9:53pm

My sinuses are draining down the back of my throat and they're making me cough. I didn't go to the visitation of the friend that passed away. His widow understood. She knows how I get when the coughing starts. She's the one that shares a birthday with my late mom. I've been sucking on Vitamin C cough drops off and on all day. Need to make sure that the package is nearby when I go to bed so I can get one out when I need it. I'm almost treating the cough drops as candy with the way I've been sucking on them.

It is still in the air if we're going up to Minnesota. About 3 days before my youngest niece's due date with her baby, my oldest niece (the sister to the youngest niece) is graduating from the community college and is working for the Minnesota DNR Conservation Corps. She works at least 4 days a week. It doesn't seem possible that she'll be 20 this year and the niece that is pregnant will be 18 about 5 months after she has her baby. Plus my nieces' mom (my sister-in-law and the one that introduced me to SparkPeople) is wanting to have a baby shower about that time. I hope that we can go up and join in the festivities since I have a lot of stuff toget.

I am going to do a different birth announcement for my youngest niece. Instead of having Piglet, Pooh, Eeyore, and Tigger on it on one side and the announcement on the other side, I'm going to have Pooh at the bottom and the announcement on the top above Pooh. He has 4 butterflies on him or flying. It's going to be bigger count. The one that I was going to do was an 18 count and the one that I'm doing now is a 14 count. A litle bit better to see. I still haven't gotten the chance to work on the quilt yet. I may work on it in the morning if I'm not coughing my head off like I was this morning. I can't go over to the gal that helped me with the sewing machine since her and her hubby are leaving tomorrow for their trip.

I got some more books for my ereader. I got 10 this morning and I just got 30 more before I checked my email. I'll get them downloaded when we go up to the garage we pick up parts for in other towns. They have free WiFi (the owner is our neighbor down the street) and it won't take me too long to get all 40 books downloaded. I may read some more of this one series of books that I'm on (its a series of 5 books in one type of deal). A couple of them are on Vampires and God. I cna't remember the others. The only ereader you can use on the website that I gave on Monday (www.ereader.com) is the one through Amazon. The cheaper one. I got mine back in December for my birthday and Christmas gift.

Tried to work on baby quilt but...

9:53pm

Tired to work on the baby quilt for my youngest niece but I made a mistake. I go the bobbin thread to come up from the bottom before I took my shower and I got one sewn up after I took my shower. That's about all I did tonight. I was going to do the entire row but that didn't happen. I was trying to get more thread out so I can keep on sewing but the bobbin thread broke and the thread from the spool came out of the needle. I'm going to try in the morning because I'm too tired to do anything else. I don't like doing something like that when I'm tired.

I'm going to try to go to the visitation of the family friend tomorrow night. Another friend that I haven't seen since she had her son back in July. I don't think that I'll be up in going to the funeral on Friday.

It's been a long day. Dad and his oldest brother had a chiropractor appointment today at the same place so they went together. I stayed with my dad's oldest brother's wife while they were gone. Then when they got back to the house with their groceries, dad and I left and we had to be in another town for the garage here in town with an alignment on a vehicle at 1pm. No wonder I'm tired. I have no idea what we're going to do tomorrow before the visitation.

Don't get down on yourself. If you are tired, you need to rest. Especially with the emotional stress of losing a friend. You need to be kind to yourself, and take care of yourself.
The quilt will get finished. And, it will be beautiful.

A loss of a family friend

Tuesday, February 07, 2012

9:51pm

Found out that a family friend passed away this morning. He's been sick for a lot of years. If I listed them all it would take me forever to type up. I've know him all of my life. He stayed alive for another 13 days, he would of been 80 years old. Him and his wife have been married for over 50 years. He's out of pain now.

I'm still at 210 pounds. I even got to do my exercises. I did a little bit of areobics tonight just before I took my shower. I'm going to be sleeping good tonight. If my legs aren't as bloated as they are now. I tok something for them anyway.

My dad said when he took Lady out that there was snow on the ground. Just what we needed. More snow. We're not going to be having the warm weather like we have been having here lately. It's going to be in the 20s and the 30s. Cannot wait for the warmer weather to get here so I can take the dog vor more walks than I was last week.

Didn't gain any weight from Super Bowl party

Monday, February 06, 2012

9:34pm

I'm surprised that I didn't gain any weight from the Super Bowl party yesterday. I hope that I don't for a while and go down.

The past few days I've been getting free books for my ereader from a website. If you go to ereaderiq.com, you should be able to get some free books. I've gotten over 40 of them and hopefully if we go somewhere with free WiFi tomorrow I can get the ones that I found today downloaded onto the ereader tha I have. The one that I have can hold over 1400 books on it. I may look for some more after I get done posting this blog. I want to get as many as I can before we go to Minnesota in July. I have a lot of vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, smoothie, crock pot,and a few other cookbooks and some spiritral books on there. And some romance, mystery and thriller, an biography of Faith Hill, a book on Sydney, Australia (I have a pen pal in Australia), and the Bible (the English Standard Version). And a few others that will take me forever to write up.

Still trying to get the thread from the bobbin to where it needs to be on my late mom's sewing machine. It's getting frustrating not to get it done. I'm almost wanting to get someone to help me. I event tried to use the manual for the sewing machine that I have downloaded onto the computer. But that was even hard to follow. I had the gal that showed how to use the sewing machine send it to me in an email. I couldn't even get it to download onto my computer. She did it the same way I did it. I can't call her to help me because her and her hubby are going on a train trip out west and across the northern part of the country for 2 weeks. Then they're going to their daughter's in Ohio for their daughter's and grandson's birthdays.

Good on not gaining weight from the party. I spent my day at airports trying to get home from Virginia, and landed in Champaign after 10 that night. Guess it was a good avoidance strategy...Ha!
I would love to get an ereader. I hope you enjoy the books while you are away. My idea of heaven is reading a good book by the water.
Some of those machines are a booger to thread, so I hope you get it figured out. I seem to have more trouble getting the tension set right.
Have a great day!!!

Long day at a Super Bowl party

Sunday, February 05, 2012

9:51pm

We went to a Super Bowl party today at the nursing home where my late mom was a resident at. We had good food and I didn't overeat like I've done in the past. This is the first Super Bowl party since I quit eating meat back on April 27, 2011. I ate good and healthy food. There were a few foods that weren't but I din't have much of. It was all in moderation.

I've lost 2 pounds this week. I've lost 5 pounds for the year and I have another 90 pounds to go to get to my goal weight. I'm down 30 pounds since August 31, 2008. I'm at 210 pounds and this is where a dream that I had last week started. I was at 210 pounds (like I said this is a dream) and it took me 6 weeks to get down to 120 pounds. Weeks 1 and 2 I lost 20 pounds each, Week 3 I lost 16 pounds, Week 4 I lost 14 pounds, and Weeks 5 and 6 I lost 10 pounds each. Remember this ia a dream, not real. I don't do much in change in what I eat or how I exercise in the dream. I think that I was imagining myself thin and it helped me lose the weight. I hope that doesn't come true but it doesn't hurt to imagine it. Isn't that right? I did do a lot of walking today. We went to Target before we went to the nursing home and I walked around there. Then we went over to the nursing home and took what we got for the party. But we left there and went back to Target and walked around and got more coffee. Finally we went back, helped set up a little bit, helped pass out plates of foods and ate ourselves. I helped the host of the party by feeding him since he has MS and can't use his arms. They had too much on his plate but he did eat a lot. He had more food on his plate than what I had. We gave what was left of the chips and Pepsi. There was no more French Onion dip left af ter the party.

This is one time of year I hate having a T.O.M when I have to go to a party like this. It was doing what I like to call a roller coaster. One moment it would be heavy and then it'll stop. It would go on and on until we left and it got somewhat heavy but not enough to make me go to the bathroom. Plus I had to pee a lot while we were there even though I didn't drink a whole lot of water. The air in the nursing home was dry and dad couldn't understand why.

Did everyone's team they were rooting for at the Super Bowl win? Mine did since I was rooting for the New York Giants. That game was a nail biter. It was a repeat on teams and who won from the 2008 Super Bowl. Yeah, Giants.
