Need Help

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

I have been in a funk since last week. Been going through some personal things and I stopped working out, eating healthy and being involved here on SP. Somehow I was able to lose 2 lbs in 2 wks without any effort. I didn't really eat and slept a lot. Each day gets better for me but I need some suppport on getting back into the healthy routine I had started up the past month. I love you guys and love reading your pages/blogs and watching your vlogs.

In one of my last few blogs I wrote that Coming Back DOES equal consistency! Regardless of how many times you stop and start you are consistently coming back to it!

Be proud of yourself for coming back!

As Tony Horton (from Beachbody)says "Do your best and forget the rest."

    Hey Beth -

I have struggled with depression since I was in my early 20s (20 years!) I know exactly what it feels like. I am SO SO happy that you are going to see the doctor! I have been on the right medication for me (not saying everyone has to have meds, but strongly believe that some people absolutely need them) for the past 8 years. Over those years my life has changed drastically. Still overweight? Yeah - but I feel like a normal human being. I have ups. I have downs. I am actually LIVING life, not just going through the motions.

I'm going to message you my cell number - as I would love to get some text support as well!

Tell yourself every morning when you wake up that it won't always feel this way. That it WILL pass.

Get OUTSIDE. Get outside in the sun and walk. Even sitting in the sun helps. I know it's the last thing you want to do - but if you can get outside and walk it will really help. I promise you it will.

I just want to say a huge thank you for all your words of support. I suffer with depression and have been putting off going to a dr for too long. When it hits, it will sometimes be just a couple of days up to weeks at a time then my life seems to get better so I never think of seeking help until im struggling. But i FINALLY am seeking help next week after i get my next unemployment payment. Theres a few clinics here that go by a sliding scale for payment. Not having insurance and being on unemployment makes getting to a dr difficult. Anyone that wants to friend me on here go right ahead! Also, if anyone would be interested in exchanging cell numbers to send motivating texts back and forth send me a message.

Hello! I know we don't know each other, but I saw your "need help" and thought I'd stop by : )

I love LBFROMBUFAD's advice, do NOT drop out! Even the worst day will be behind you the next morning, and each day is an opportunity to make some (or all) good choices when it comes to food and exercise.

I had a rough couple of weeks earlier this month, but then I wrote all about it, got feedback from sparkfriends, and turned the ship around. Maybe write about your specific problems and get advice about how to work through them. I saw your May 2012 goals blog, how have you been doing with the goals? If it's not 100%, or if it's not even 10% achieved, it's still better than 0%.

Maybe make a goal for tonight, even if it's to go for a walk by yourself, take an extra long shower, or even drive around for 15 minutes listetning to music you like. Make a goal that you know you will achieve and will make you feel better and let you work stuff out inside your head. I know it helps me, even if it's not something that's directly related to weight loss.

Good luck to you today, and don't ever give up.

Hi! Welcome back!! Give yourself credit for that, because some people "drop out" and don't come back for years (I was one of those!!) I absolutely refuse to give up on myself this time, though. So the good news is it was only two weeks! And you still lost!

But today's a new day! You can start over right now! And you just have to make TEENY TINY do-able changes! Drink more water, move a little more, track your food, that's all you have to do to start, the important thing is to tell yourself that you are DONE giving up on yourself and that even if you fall down, you are getting right back up, because you are WORTH IT!! You are!!!

Dancing is such a great way to work out! I never do that at home but I should as it's something I love! Thanks for the idea. Sounds like you are really aiming for consistency and sticking to your work out plans. Congrats! It helps to see workout goals written down....and is something I also never do but should. Hope your week went well!

Finding a way to be active that is fun is definitely worth it. And emoticon for consistency!

No matter what the scale says from one week to the next, if we make gradual changes toward living a healthier life, we will be making progress and the scale will catch up with us.

Very smart move to keep the bedroom specifically for sleeping. I know that's a common recommendation to help when people have trouble.

Good luck reaching Onederland through consistent healthy activity and eating!

I plan on having a much better week this next week then I did last week. I have a better eating plan now and found that today I really love dancing around in my living room to my iTunes playlist. So much so, that this am I did for an entire hour and then this evening after dinner I did it again for 45 mins. emoticon

Those Spring and Summer Challenges should really help you have some planned activity regularly.

If you haven't already done so, you might want to add some measurements other than weight on the scale. Waist, Hips, Thighs, Calves, Ankles, Neck - we can lose fat in seemingly random places sometimes. I know there were times when my face or even shoulders were where I'd suddenly notice a difference. Those can be a boost even if the scale is being less friendly.

Also, any time you notice an improvement, write it down somewhere. Non-scale victories can be very personal sometimes, and some are real surprises because we don't even realize how much we adjusted for the weight. As you get further along in the journey, keep all those readily available for weeks you're feeling down to remind yourself of how far you've come and where you don't want to go back to.
