Just another good thing

Sunday, March 06, 2011

Today like so many other times since starting SP I have come to a realization.
Where I used to be able to sit and watch TV for hours, especially on Saturday evenings my body will NOT let me do this any more. With the exercise 3X a week and the healthier way of eating I have too much inner energy to just sit.
Don't get me wrong if the TV program is a good one I will sit at least until a commercial. I don't know how are feeling, but I am loving the new me coming out of the old habits. Have a great week all you lucky to be here on Spark People Sparkies........I know I will try my best too. Hugs to all who read this and thank you for taking the time to stop by. emoticon

WooHoo for you! Same here. I can't sit still longer than 15 minutes before I have to do SOMETHING physical. Great, isn't it! And this coming from me . . . I could sit with the best of 'em before.

Passing on a VERY good recipe.....

Monday, February 28, 2011

Today I went to ROCKLAND2010's blog for "Impossibly Easy Zucchini Pie"
It sounded sooooo good.....and I was only missing one ingredient so yes while I was out and about I stopped at the store, picked up the Bisquick and came home and made the pie. It was fantastic.....that is if you like zucchini squash and tomato with onion and parmesan cheese............ for only 120 cals for 1/6 the pie.
Here is the link: bit.ly/cIiY0V . It's a keeper..... I already thanked ROCKLAND2010.......... emoticon

To whoever mentioned "Better 'n Peanut Butter"

Friday, February 25, 2011

A few weeks ago while surfing this site I came upon a thread where some one mentioned liking "Better 'n Peanut Butter". If I remember correctly people were talking about what kind of PB they liked/bought. Being a PB fan I entered the thread and well the results were: I tried "Better 'n Peanut Butter". There is a chocolate version (which I bought first and just didn't care for), than I bought the original version. A serving size is 2 TBP, just like regular PB, but the calories are almost 100 less. Because I have tried most PB's out there I know what I want in taste.
I want to thank whoever mentioned this PB, because I have found the best of the best (in my opinion). Taste, texture is right on. And once again I am a happy camper........
I spent some time this morning looking for that thread to no avail. Wanted to find the person who brought this product to my attention to thank them, but this is the best I could do....blogging about it. This is an organic PB and slightly higher in price........but well worth it.
Thanks for stopping by and HUGS going all around.......Have a great PB and J day. emoticon

Hey there SP friend! Hope you are having a great day today. Thanks for the PB idea (and thanks to the person who mentioned it before you...) I'm not sure we have anything like that around here but will check out some of the stores in State College as they carry more variety. I splurged this weekend and made John (and me too of course) a chocolate p-nut butter pie...yum, yum!! I try to eat just small slices when I have it though since I know it has more than enough calories in it. Always happy to read your blogs. Be happy, healthy and safe. emoticon emoticon

YEAH! PB and dark chocolate! I remember sorority days. We'd sit with jars of Jif and Hershey bars and munch away. Boy, I thought I was a smart girl then!
Man, it was fun! Every so often I like to reminisce!

Happy meal....

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

I wouldn't usually blog about a meal, but every time I have this it just makes me happy.......and I think this could be another to go to comfort food for me.
All I do is take a spaghetti squash (steam it in a microwave).....scrape it out of the shell.....add some marinara sauce and a touch of shredded parm.
I'm sure there a lot of you who have done this, but for those of you who haven't it's worth a try. Have a good night emoticon

A piece of cake...?

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

On my status this morning I mentioned I was out to shovel snow 4" is a piece of cake.........I than added cake?...dare I?....maybe. Well I want to thank those SP friends who sent messages to stay away from the cake......I read them too late....
On Sunday I baked a Pillsbury Reduced Sugar devil's food cake. I made two 8" layers and frozen one for future use. According to the label (and the other SP's who researched this) a 1/12 th piece of cake is 250 calories etc. I marked the cake off to 1/12 pieces while it was still hot (so the marks are still there).
After making out my meal plan for the remainder of today I was able to have that piece of cake and I have no quilt feelings about it. It's a good tasting devil's food cake........not the best........but when you want some chocolate cake this is better than 1) depriving yourself or 2) eating a 550 calorie cake......just my opinion.
Thanks to all those caring SP friends who cared enough to weigh in on the dilemma..........Hugs to all who read this and thanks for stopping by and commenting. emoticon emoticon

Allowing yourself to have something you want without going crazy is the perfect way. You will still be going strong on your way to a healthier weight when others have given up.

Good for you! Where there's a will there's a way, isn't there! I guess that would make the shoveling worth it! I didn't have a food treat after shoveling yesterday, but DID sit in the jacuzzi! The muscles said "THANK YOU!"

I can't wait until I'm strong enough to eat 1/12 of a cake layer. Those cans of frosting are a danger zone for me, too! It takes time to break these chains. emoticon

So you had your cake (shoveling) and managed to eat it too. WTG!

Thanks for the hugs, AUNTB63, but I have to pass on the cake. I cut out the cake, soda and cookies. I suppose you could say that is too boring. I do include more fruit, dried apricots and almonds and pecans, unsalted of course. It took me a while to get used to eight cups of water a day. As I exercise each day more and more, I find that I need more water. But, sorry, no cake. Every once in a while I fit in a Klondike bar if my calorie count allows me to. Good luck to you in your weight loss journey. Stay the course and get more healthy.

I am with you on this one. I really do feel that NO food is bad. Its only HOW much I eat of it that makes it not user friendly for my goals. If I deprive my self of something It usually just makes me crave it more and then I mess up. SO....I try to PLAN my splurges. Make sure they fit into my food plan for the day. By the way...the cake sounds yummy! LOL Have a joy filled day, Karen emoticon emoticon
