To whoever mentioned "Better 'n Peanut Butter"

Friday, February 25, 2011

A few weeks ago while surfing this site I came upon a thread where some one mentioned liking "Better 'n Peanut Butter". If I remember correctly people were talking about what kind of PB they liked/bought. Being a PB fan I entered the thread and well the results were: I tried "Better 'n Peanut Butter". There is a chocolate version (which I bought first and just didn't care for), than I bought the original version. A serving size is 2 TBP, just like regular PB, but the calories are almost 100 less. Because I have tried most PB's out there I know what I want in taste.
I want to thank whoever mentioned this PB, because I have found the best of the best (in my opinion). Taste, texture is right on. And once again I am a happy camper........
I spent some time this morning looking for that thread to no avail. Wanted to find the person who brought this product to my attention to thank them, but this is the best I could do....blogging about it. This is an organic PB and slightly higher in price........but well worth it.
Thanks for stopping by and HUGS going all around.......Have a great PB and J day. emoticon

Hey there SP friend! Hope you are having a great day today. Thanks for the PB idea (and thanks to the person who mentioned it before you...) I'm not sure we have anything like that around here but will check out some of the stores in State College as they carry more variety. I splurged this weekend and made John (and me too of course) a chocolate p-nut butter pie...yum, yum!! I try to eat just small slices when I have it though since I know it has more than enough calories in it. Always happy to read your blogs. Be happy, healthy and safe. emoticon emoticon

YEAH! PB and dark chocolate! I remember sorority days. We'd sit with jars of Jif and Hershey bars and munch away. Boy, I thought I was a smart girl then!
Man, it was fun! Every so often I like to reminisce!

Happy meal....

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

I wouldn't usually blog about a meal, but every time I have this it just makes me happy.......and I think this could be another to go to comfort food for me.
All I do is take a spaghetti squash (steam it in a microwave).....scrape it out of the shell.....add some marinara sauce and a touch of shredded parm.
I'm sure there a lot of you who have done this, but for those of you who haven't it's worth a try. Have a good night emoticon

A piece of cake...?

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

On my status this morning I mentioned I was out to shovel snow 4" is a piece of cake.........I than added cake?...dare I?....maybe. Well I want to thank those SP friends who sent messages to stay away from the cake......I read them too late....
On Sunday I baked a Pillsbury Reduced Sugar devil's food cake. I made two 8" layers and frozen one for future use. According to the label (and the other SP's who researched this) a 1/12 th piece of cake is 250 calories etc. I marked the cake off to 1/12 pieces while it was still hot (so the marks are still there).
After making out my meal plan for the remainder of today I was able to have that piece of cake and I have no quilt feelings about it. It's a good tasting devil's food cake........not the best........but when you want some chocolate cake this is better than 1) depriving yourself or 2) eating a 550 calorie cake......just my opinion.
Thanks to all those caring SP friends who cared enough to weigh in on the dilemma..........Hugs to all who read this and thanks for stopping by and commenting. emoticon emoticon

Allowing yourself to have something you want without going crazy is the perfect way. You will still be going strong on your way to a healthier weight when others have given up.

Good for you! Where there's a will there's a way, isn't there! I guess that would make the shoveling worth it! I didn't have a food treat after shoveling yesterday, but DID sit in the jacuzzi! The muscles said "THANK YOU!"

Thanks for the hugs, AUNTB63, but I have to pass on the cake. I cut out the cake, soda and cookies. I suppose you could say that is too boring. I do include more fruit, dried apricots and almonds and pecans, unsalted of course. It took me a while to get used to eight cups of water a day. As I exercise each day more and more, I find that I need more water. But, sorry, no cake. Every once in a while I fit in a Klondike bar if my calorie count allows me to. Good luck to you in your weight loss journey. Stay the course and get more healthy.

I am with you on this one. I really do feel that NO food is bad. Its only HOW much I eat of it that makes it not user friendly for my goals. If I deprive my self of something It usually just makes me crave it more and then I mess up. SO....I try to PLAN my splurges. Make sure they fit into my food plan for the day. By the way...the cake sounds yummy! LOL Have a joy filled day, Karen emoticon emoticon

What a day

Thursday, January 27, 2011

Yesterday, after three days of planning on going out for breakfast and life getting in the way, we finally made it. I ordered a South western omelet made with egg beaters, fruit and one slice of whole wheat toast. The platter came and I immediately asked for a box. Cut the omelet in half and enjoyed the second half. Will be having another omelet this morning. After breakfast we were in a area where there is a fantastic food store. One I only go to on occasion. Pre SP I would go to this store for their bakery goodies........just so yummy. Now I went in for some strawberries as we are going through good tasting berry withdrawal. They had some and on the plus side they were on sale. While I was in there I checked out their fresh fish......wow...found a shrimp cake and a salmon roll stuffed with crab meat. I just love crab cakes and thought I needed to try one made out of shrimp. For lunch I made the shrimp cake. It weighed in at 6 oz. so I cut it in half.....it was scrumptious. Made a little "cocktail" sauce to go with it. Ending up having the other half with some angel hair pasta and sauce for dinner. This too was the best.
Besides eating like a queen yesterday I was able to put 6 miles on my bike, do my daily challenges and smile all day long. What a day......hope everyone who reads this has a day like I had sometime soon. Hugs to all and thanks for stopping by. emoticon

Vertigo........any one?

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Every few years I get vertigo.........for me that's an inner ear situation that causes dizziness and at times a lack of balance. Don't know why me, but I have learned to deal with it. I take some meds and in a couple of days usually back to normal.
This year it upsets me more than any other. Mainly, because I won't be able to continue with my cardio. I will do some in chair type exercises or at least try. I had a good streak going, but I guess if breaking the streaks is the only bad thing happening this week I consider myself lucky. Have a good day......keep moving (maybe a little extra for me).....eat healthy and stay happy........smile and laugh. emoticon

I don't know if this would help, but I've read about this in some forums: http://bit.ly/gxNFe4 . You never know? Also, maybe look into hypoglycemia? My Dd has this once in a while, and I kept thinking she was dehydrated, too. Anyway, thought I'd mention it while I was perusing SP tonight.
Best wishes.

Sorry to hear this and hope you are feeling back to normal very soon! Believe it or not, my elderly dog has had this very same thing.....it's the same thing that we humans get, and dogs can get it as well. For us as her "dog parents" it was very scary when she first got it b/c her eyes were jerking back and forth and she was afraid to move....couldn't keep balance at all. Luckilly, she was much better in a few days....still has some lingering effects, but nothing too terrible.

Feel better soon!

Oh, I am sorry. I have bouts of that from time to time. Just be careful. My balance then gets thrown off...so be careful not to fall! Hope it quickly passes and you can get back to working on your cardio streak.

So sorry to hear about your vertigo! I get it, too, but it is usually associated with an inner ear infection. I used to really be plagued with them, but now since my healthier lifestyle habits are my "norm" I have bee lucky to avoid them! That's enough on that one . . . don't want to jinx myself.

Will say a prayer for you that this clears up for you quickly. Just worry about taking care of yourself, THEN worry about the exercise, etc. Proud of you that at least you're finding chair exercises to keep yourself going.
