It's all about a pound and a half......

Sunday, September 12, 2010

As some of you know, I emoticonmyself daily, but only weigh in once a week. For those of you who don't know the story behind this decision, I posted two other blogs about my reasoning.
Now back to the 1 1/2#'s. Last Sunday's weigh in I was 183 (basically on target for my plan to emoticon)
Monday I was emoticon1 1/2#'s. emoticon
Needless to say I was a bit shocked emoticon I tweaked a couple of things: a few more calories (you might emoticonwhy more calories I had been trying to eat at my mid range calorie count falling short, but not under. I also tried getting a little more emoticon not much control over that. Go to bed and get up around the same emoticoneveryday, but between all the emoticon and the sometime sirens from a fire truck ( we live a couple of blocks away from the station). I usually manage an interrupted 7 hours a night.
By Wednesday I was emoticon to 183.5 and by Friday and Saturday emoticonto 182.5 emoticon. Than "weigh in" day came along and........back to 183.
So although I had a productive week, the record shows no weight loss for this week.....but the emoticonis not my emoticon and numbers are just part of this journey.........I know (and now you do too because you are reading this) that my week will go down as a emoticonVICTORY over the 1 1/2#'s.
Have a healthy, happy day,,,,,,,,,,I know I will!

Portion you?

Sunday, August 29, 2010

For most of us we know what our portions should look like....Right?

We let them control us for sometime OR we wouldn't be down sizing them now.

Not to brag (but I will just a little) each day I get better at visualizing what a portion should be. Because I've given myself a long term goal of 50#'s in a year, I have NOT eliminated any foods. I still eat what I want, just not as often or not as much.............Tracking my food has really helped in this area.

Yesterday for lunch we went to "Philly Way".... yes I'm talking about a Philly cheese steak sandwich. This is what I did: ordered the sandwich minus the cheese, but added peppers and onions. When we got them home I added my own LF cheese (what's a Philly cheese steak w/o cheese?) I proceeded to eat 1/2 the sandwich, added some fruit and I was set for lunch. (drinking yet another glass of water)

Now whether you agree or not with my way of thinking, this is working for me. Portion control and sensible eating.

I've successfully taken off 1/2# a week, sometimes 1# and even a couple of weeks at a 2# loss. But I am learning day by day that portion control is going to be the key to my success. That of course along with at least 10 minutes of exercise (more 3X a week) and still drinking 8+ glasses of H2O a day.

It's falling into place emoticonand I'm pleased with the progress I've made so far. Plus I know I can continue this for a very long time. is your portion control (exercise, water drinking) going?

emoticon to all who read this and have a healthy, happy week!

FYI: bought a jump rope and am going to attempt to jump more than 3 times without missing a jump...............this could take a very long time, but I'm going to try. emoticon

You hit the nail right on its head... if we constantly deprive ourselves of things we love we end up feeling resentful and totally blowing it... I know I can have whatever I want whenever I want it and somehow it just never seems important.

I think this is a great way to go about it. We are not just on a diet. This is not going to stop when we hit our goal. We have to develop a healthy life style. Otherwise we will not maintain our loss and gain back the pounds. YIKES - who wants that? Leaning how much food to eat - portion control - and adding in physical activity is a very healthy way to go about this.

emoticon job!

Portion control is getting there, slowly, I might add. I still think 'just one more won't hurt' then when I track my food I'm horrified!

I have quite a high metabolic rate, so I'm fortunate, but I take the tracking pretty seriously! I ate 70457 cals in Aug so far, which is 2273 per day. I also burned 64415, which is 2078 per day. That's an excess of 195 cals per day.

But if you think that's bad, you should see where I've come from! In Jul, I ate 82768 cals, which is 2670 per day, and burned 63996, which is 2064 per day. That's an excess of 606 cals per day! See! Progress! How I manage to remain at just 70kgs is a mystery to me, but I've changed my goals this month to lose 1kg in a month, which has reduced my max calorie intake to only 1950, and that is allowing for 30 mins a day CV, 7 days a week!

I'll let you know how I get on.

As for addicted to the stuff and often drink over 10 glasses a day, plus fruit juice! I suppose I don't put on weight because I pee a lot! hehe

Love...Jonathan x

Oh, and, just like you, I did write a long email to my tutor about all the maths errors!

Hi-Way to Go!!! Portion Control is my nemesis-what to eat-Check When to eat-Check, but the darn how much to eat is still a "challenge". I am still in shock after finding out a pint of icecream is NOT a single serving!LOL.Have a good day.

Tree transformation - The finished product.

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Good Morning, All
Pleased to say our tree is now a "Wood Spirit".........I mistakenly have been calling him a wizard.........the carver kept referring to his work as a "spirit". It took Jeff, approximately 3 hours to complete this work of art. What skill he has.......been doing this for 18 years. Enjoy our new pride and joy..............

WOW, he did a fantastic job.

I have always liked making old trees into carvings, but this has got to be one the the more artistic, original ones I have seen. I just love it. Looking at the tree before the carving, I can almost see the spirit of the tree. He just had to be released.

Tree transformation - part 1

Monday, August 23, 2010

For those of you who don't know the story: we had a very old Elm tree in our back yard that got Dutch elm disease and had to come down. Not an easy thing to do because the tree sits within of 10 feet on either side of houses. It also stands up against a cedar fence. Because this tree is soooo old, we decided to not take it down to the ground. We left about 6 feet (from the ground). Our plans our to have a "Wood Wizard" carved into remaining tree. Hence, this is part one.....a couple of pictures of the tree coming down...............

Hopefully, in the next week or two the carver will come in to finish this big undertaking. To all who stop by, have a healthy happy day.

Up date on daily weigh in...........

Monday, August 23, 2010

A while ago, after reading the article about pros and cons of daily weighing, I started as an experiment and still weighing in daily. I wanted to see a pattern in my weight loss. Nothing stood out until the past two weeks...... I discovered a prankster in my know the one who messes with your mind by manipulating the numbers inside the scale.
This past week and the week before I weighed my self every day
Monday: down, Tuesday: the same, Wednesday: up, Thursday: the same, Friday: the same, Saturday: the same, Sunday: down 1/2 lb. Yeah!
Monday: down 1 what I'm trying to say is the varmint waits until the day AFTER my weigh in date to drop a whole pound.......I just know he is messing with me. But I will not let him get me down, after all a loss is a loss.........
Have a good day and please look out for pranksters in your scale.......don't let them get to you. emoticon
