Sparkling water....once in a while!

Friday, August 26, 2011

I am not much of a soda drinker....back in the day my drink of choice was rum and coke...now my drink of choice is cold/iced water. However, every once in awhile I like something "fizzy". A few months ago I found a drink called "Ice" sparkling water with natural flavoring. Well today I tried "pink grapefruit" and it was great. Very refreshing. The only kind of grapefruit I will eat is red, but this flavoring does not have a bitter taste like real grapefruit. If you are in the market for something just a little different and 0 calories, give it a try. They also come in other flavors like black raspberry and kiwi/strawberry etc.
Hope your day has been a sparkling one. Thanks for stopping by and emoticon to all of you. Barb

OOOHHH! Did you find it @ Woodman's by chance?? I am the same way . . . every once in a while I HAVE to have something carbonated. My taste buds have changed so much, though, that regular soda tastes way too sweet to me. So I'll have to look.

Glad to see you back!

Hugs,
the other Barb! LOL

Could you "kick" me back into doing better?

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

I just lost my goals.........my motivation.........my healthy eating habits etc. I do well for a couple of days and than (like today) I ate each meal/snack as if it were my last. I know I am setting myself up to fail........choices of foods are no where near being healthy. I just can't seem to shake this stepping backwards.
I've read motivational articles....I've read success stories. I track all my food and am way out of range.........my exercise is way done. I (like so many of us) know what to do and how to do it.........BUT why can't I just DO IT ? Any words of wisdom/advice.....gentle or not will be appreciated. As of today I have regained 6 pounds........! emoticon

Gosh, I'm just where you are also...
I need to be more accountable and start to log my food again and schedule my exercises and log then, too.

I bought a new recipe book a[on grilling and it seems to work. I'm eating more healthy and starting to lose again.
I found something I like and it likes me...
I know you can do it Barb. We are all in this together.

PS Love the HALT and FLAB....Good Thinking ! ! !

One step at a time, one decision at a time. Start with the least painful and progress from there. No matter how small, make one positive move every single day.

What a heartfelt blog and what wonderful comments by my fellow Sparkers. AuntB, this journey is a hard one and a long one. We will have many detours along the way but we must decide to get back on the road time and time again because we are worth it. Yes, it is frustrating at times...yes, we lose our motivation, our Spark at times but there is no alternative except to gain the weight back again.

I have been at a plateau for 11 weeks but yet I will NEVER GIVE UP! I know what I have to do...now I must do it, just like you. Make the commitment today....set small goals and little by little you will be back on track and the SPARK will return. Some suggestions: drink your 8 glasses of water, weigh and measure your food, eat your veggies and fruit every day, walk, exercise 3 or 4 days a week. Start with one or two small goals and add the others little by little. I haven't accomplished all of these yet either but I am going to do it, little by little. "PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION."

You can do this but you must BELIEVE you can. I am here for support if you need me.

Martha emoticon

Hi, I read this and totally understood. I have no idea why it happens but, I am finding that at some point it usually happens to all of us. The trick is to FIGHT through it...and continue on. YOU can do it! Have a joy filled day, Karen

Oh my dear, you certainly are not the only one who struggles with this for sure! I tend to agree that there is something at the root of this, something emotional. Perhaps journaling would hlep. I agree, to be successful, you can tackle one or two things, but no more. Be focused on those till they become an absolute habit. Then add another goal or two.

I have read 2 good suggestions about what to ask yourself when you are tempted to eat something that you KNOW isn't healthy . . . questions to answer to determine what is behind the feeling. HALT and FLAB

H unger . . . am I really hungry?
A ngry . . . am I angry about something?
L onely . . . am I lonely?
T ired . . . am I tired?

If the answer to why you feel the need to eat is anything other than hunger, then try to deal with that issue.

Onto FLAB

F rustrated . . . am I frustrated?
L onely . . . am I lonely?
A ngry . . . am I angry?
B ored . . . am I bored?

If the answer to these questions (similar to the above scenario) is NOT hunger, then you need to put a plan in place to occupy your mind or hands. Just some suggestions.

You know you can always vent . . . it's good for the soul!

You know everything you have to do, perhaps there is something else bothering you that is taking your focus off what's good for you, take a minute to think about it, it's most likely something staring you in the face and once you see it, the road ahead will be clearer. emoticon

I too have been having a hard time staying focused. Fortunately, I have been losing but it has slowed down and I'm afraid I can't keep eating the way I have and still lose weight. Good luck!!!

I have always struggled with this myself. I have discovered that adding one thing at a time has helped me stay focused better. In March when I decided to lose weight I started with adding water and when that was a habit, I added exercise and when that became more or less a habit, I am now trying to eat better. This is by far the hardest one for me. I love food and obviously it is not the healthy kind. I had a bad night last night and I blogged about it and kept it to just that one meal that was terrible. So hang in there, if you do one good thing focus on that instead of the negative things. I also took a week off of putting my food in the counter and focused on exercising. I am here if you need a friend add me we can fight this together.

I think we need to kick each other. I know what to do and how to get back on track but do I do it? Why not? I am working on it and won't give up. One thing I know I need to do is to set a time for me everyday at the same time. I put off journal, logging in food, planning, etc and then don't do it. We will get back! LOL Phyllis

Get the "junk" food out of the house and plan healthy meals and snacks. Avoid processed foods, HFCS, and transfat. Never eat any carbs without protein. If you are hungry between meals only eat protein. Get your water in. Get a pedometer and walk 10,000 steps a day.

Pedometer back in place.....feels oh so good.

Friday, June 24, 2011

Yesterday I put on the pedometer again after a month of not wearing it. Felt good to start tracking my steps again. When I first got the "meter" I wore it for a week or so and decided to strive for 4000 steps a day.....working toward the ultimate goal of 10,000 steps. I was just getting the 4000 steps consistently.
Now although I don't have to go back to square one I will work on getting to that 10,000 steps (daily) some day.......one step at a time.
HUGS to all who read this.......have a great day......mine is starting out that way.

I wear my pedometer every day but I have only achieved 10,000 steps once or twice. That's a lot of steps and I don't really have anywhere to go! I do better when I go to town shopping but just around here I don't do that well. I just keep on trying!

Woke up this morning feeling fine.....

Thursday, June 23, 2011

As some of you may know I have been away for awhile. Well today I woke up feeling like the "old" me. Not referring to my age.....but how I used to feel after a couple of months at SP. Tracking nutrition, exercise and water is something I truly missed (and didn't even realize how much) I guess the new habits really did sink in other wise I wouldn't feel so invigorated just being back a couple of days. Thanks to all of you and SP just for being there. Hugs to all who read/comment on this. Have a wonderful day.....I know I am.
