Does the "week" start on Sundays?

Sunday, June 13, 2010

I just noticed the SparkAmerica fitness minutes zeroed out today. Does everything start anew on Sundays? Should I be weighing in on Sundays? So challenges usually start on Sundays?
I never started anything on a Sunday or on a Monday, mainly to get out of the mindset of "I'll start next Monday" (again). What works for me is to start things (diet, exercise etc.) on a Wednesday...........................Can anyone shed some light on this? If I have to restart everything today (Sunday) I will.

For SP everything starts on Sundays. Sunday is the first day of the calendar week. You can weigh in whenever you choose it.. it is your personal choice. Some only weigh in once a week, others daily, others monthly.

If you want to run your weeks differenly you an. When you record your activities, there is a calendar on the home page you can use as your personal guide.

Starting dates on challenges vary. A lot of the ones I belong to start on the 1st of the month, whatever day of the week that will be.

Just didn't know....

Saturday, June 12, 2010

I've been trying to get used to the Spark site, and getting just a little flustered. I've answered some blogs, but just didn't know this is the spot for me to reach out for help or just jot down a couple of words. Now that I know this I will be here more often.
I'm just enjoying the journey to a new spot via Sparkpeople. Met a few new friends and plan on meeting more as I go along. This is whole different way of approaching my goal to live a healthier life at a healthier weight, than I am used to.
I used to just rely on my own will power and drive. At times I could succeed and yet still couldn't quite make it to the end of my journey (my goal weight). And/of maintain it for any length of time.
I'm in it for as long as it takes to get there and stay there.
Thanks in advance for being there for me........I'll do the same for you. emoticon

This blog hit home for me. I, too, have joined just this year (April). I have found that if I just keep going and discovering more that Sparkpeople has to offer, the better off I am. Spark on, sister! Great blog, you are a talented writer. Blessings emoticon

We have to help each other in this journey - I know I also depend on the spark points list below the view my spark points page.

For a while I was clicking on everything in the e-mails and really getting bogged down, then I thought I wasn't getting the points I was earning. Then I realized that the points on articles and messages are capped, so you don't get extra points for madly clicking away.

This list helps keep things sensible and I can be on and off the computer in an hour. I found that when I wasn't reading everything I could click on, I was actually retaining the information I was learning much better. It gives me time to think about what I'm learning and time to integrate it into my lifestyle.

When I get overwhelmed at where I've allowed myself to get to and how far I have to go, I back off and relax for a minute, taking time to realize that I am making progress and that the whole journey is a process, not just one single number I want to see on the scale. If I don't embrace the process, that number on the scale won't mean anything at all, it will be temporary, because I won't have the skill set to maintain it.

I don't think this journey is easy for any of us - but I do believe we can all see it as an adventure we live everyday.

We live and learn, and life just gets better and better. If we make a mistake and learn from the mistake, we are still improving. We're in this together, we are all there for each other, and we are all worth it!

What helped me was to go down the list that appears when you click on "View My Sparkpoints". It will help you get acquainted with all of the great features on SP. Then you can decide what's important to you. Have fun!
