My workouts *Jan 20-26*

Monday, January 27, 2014

I rocked the gym (aka my livingroom) last week! ;) I did a bunch of cardio and almost as much strength training. We have youtube on our tv, through our wii, so I am able to find all kinds of workouts on there! I have really enjoyed the variety.
I only lost one pound (incredibly) but I am fairly certain it's because of all the muscle I am gaining, rather than the lack of fat I'm losing...but I'd really like to see the scale move more. :P
My goal is to lose 20 lbs in 15 weeks. ~One week down, fourteen to go!~

So, here are all the workouts I did this week. I've indicated which are cardio (C) and which are strength training (S/T). Check them out by copying and pasting the links!

I've always admired folks who are able to work out at home. Unfortunately bums like me have to actually venture out to a facility to get motivated. Not sure why that is; your way seems more convenient. Whatevs. Whatever works, right? Be well.

What a great feeling!

Friday, January 24, 2014

I have exercised every day this week so far (including today) and I feel great! I've had a few days of soreness in different muscles groups but overall it hasn't been that bad. :)

My technique this time (while losing these 15-20 lbs) is to keep things VERY varied. I am doing lots of different workouts (thank you, YouTube!!) and it's been motivating to know I won't be bored. I will share all the cardio and strength routines I did this week on Monday, as well as my progress report on weight.

I have also been cutting calories while upping water, fruits, and veg. I was REALLY hungry on Monday and Tuesday but do you know that by Wednesday I was MUCH more satisfied on less (even though I was working hard). This is just what happened when I changed my lifestyle in 2006/2007.

I'm weighing myself daily but it has only moved a bit, which is kind of discouraging BUT I know that I am gaining muscle at the same time I am losing fat so I KNOW the scale will show that...eventually. ;)

Back to 2006

Monday, January 20, 2014

Well, it happened - I am just a few pounds shy of weighing what I did when I started my weightloss/healthy living challenge in 2006. I was about 144 then and I am 140 now. Blah

It's a strange thing to go from being very healthy and fit before and during a pregnancy and then gaining weight AFTER the baby! I attribute my gain to a few things:

Breastfeeding - this is no joke. I was famished and never satisfied while nursing for 25 months. It was kinda terrible. My body seemed to protest any time I wasn't eating.

Poor food choices - Unfortunately, I chose many "easy" dinners and snacks over healthy during those 25 months...and for the last three months since weaning. There's no excuse. I was just being lazy.

Lack of motivation in the fitness department - If I had been working out, I am SURE I wouldn't have been eating the way I was, for I would have felt motivated to make healthy decisions in all areas, not just at the gym (or livingroom, rather). I just haven't felt that drive to exercise that I used to.

All that being said, I logged on to SparkPeople today because I am READY to get healthy again. I am READY to become slim and trim again. I am READY to feel good inside and out.

Will keep the blog updated as much as I can. :D

I remember when I was breastfeeding I felt like I couldn't get enough food! Really really bad :( but after weaning him I started to feel much better and eating healthier than I was but not great. Now am trying to eat a lot better :)

Size 6 Again!!

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

It has finally happened. I can wear my size 6 pants again!! After having my son 15 months ago, I was wearing a 9/10. For many months now I've been in an 8. But this month I have been working out almost daily (though not restricting calories because I am breastfeeding-though I do watch portion sizes) and this morning I dared to try on my 6's and BAM!! they totally fit!

December Challenge!

Saturday, December 08, 2012

I have created a challenge for myself for the month of December. My simple goal this month is to exercise for at least 15 minutes 3 times/week.
This first week has been a great success! I have worked out 4 days, averaging 15 min per day, and have lost 1.5 lbs! Not much, but considering I had been holding my weight at 130-131 lbs since a few weeks after Samuel's birth in Sept 2011, I'd say being 128.6 is AWESOME! ;)
