February was a waste

So I cheated the entire month of February. I only gained 2 lbs which is good, but I feel like I wasted so much time. Every weekend I said, "This will be my last day cheating." and I really believed it...but it totally didn't happen.

I had a lot of stress going on which definately contributed to it all. My 6 month old daughter had surgery and work demanded about 50 hours a week from me. I have a 2 hour commute each day so I'm basically spending all my time in a place I loathe.

I have to get over this though. Food cannot and should not be a comfort. I need to get over this thinking and just get back on board. I felt so great losing the weight and need it to continue. I'm starting back on my diet tomorrow and am going to make this work. No guilt, just move forward.

    I just have to say one thing. If you learned all of this, it was definitely NOT a waste. Sucks that you had to go through it all, and everything, but good for you for ending it and putting a positive foot forward! You can do it!

Hit the 20 lb mark!

Woo Hoo! I'm so proud of myself. Yesterday I hit the 20lbs down mark. Today' I'm technically down 21.6lbs. I feel fantastic! My clothes are getting a bit loose and walking daily is much easier. :) Soo excited that this is actually working.

    Awesome! I love that you're not just obsessed with the number either - you feel great, clothes are looser and walking's easier. In the long run, it's those REAL changes that will keep you motivated, regardless of the number on the scale.

Went up in weight & stress

Ugh, so 4 days ago I gained 5 lbs despite eating the same stuff I've been eating for 2 weeks. I thought maybe I was getting close to my period and was bloated so I didn't think much of it. Since then I've dropped only 2 of those lbs and the rest has stuck with me. Plus I haven't gotten my period. WTF!?! I haven't lost a pound all week and it's really really discouraging me.

I'm also hella stressed at work and my ridiculously long commute is taking a toll on me. Maybe the stress is causing me to keep the weight but I'm not sure what else I can really do about that. I have a 2.5 hour commute one way to work so I end up being gone 13 hours a day. I have a 2 year old and a 4 month old who need me as soon as I walk in the door. By the time they both fall asleep around 8:30, I finally get to eat dinner even though it's way too late and I pass out....only to wake up 6 hours later at 4am to do it all over again. I'm trying to get a new job closer to home to help with this. But at this point I feel really really stuck and there isn't much else I can do to make my situation better.

    A couple of things to try to get things moving: first and foremost, make sure you're getting enough water and cutting down on caffeine. An odd fact is that you retain more water when you're slightly dehydrated. The cure for common water retention is to drink more!

Second, keep an eye on your fat percentage and make sure it's high enough. Yup. High enough. Most low carbers shoot for about 60-70 percent of calories from fat.

    Your monthly may be affecting your weight. Also if you are doing weights sometimes it will cause your weight to go up a little. Muscle is heavier than fat. Try keeping track of your measurements. Sometimes you can see your results measuring yourself when you can't see them on the scale. Don't get discouraged, this is just a bump in the road.. Just keep at it and your going to see results.

Two weeks down

So at the two week mark I am down 17lbs. I was really hoping for 20 and I must admit I'm a little bummed that I didn't get there. However, logically I know the rapid loss couldn't continue and I'm happy with where I'm at. The past 4 days I haven't lost any more weight. It's a bit discouraging but I know it's just my impatience getting the best of me.

I'm still proud of where I'm coming and need to stay positive and keep my goals in sight. The changes I've made are HUGE and if I keep it up I'm sure I will look better this summer. I'm already a bit smaller around my waist.

One week down

So it's been one week since starting on the Atkins Diet and I'm feeling pretty darn good. I'm 12 lbs down and my weight is steadily dropping. My energy levels have increased a bit and the headaches are gone. I walk about 2 miles every day between going to work and coming back to the train station. I'm pretty proud of myself!

I'm going to stay on the Induction phase for longer than 2 weeks since I have so much weight to lose and I feel like I'm doing ok. Foods are getting a little boring but I'm going to print off some recipes for new ideas.

My family is eating a bit healthier too. They at least get protein and veggies at night with me. Milo loves his veggies, even the brussle sprouts! What a cool 2 year old!

    lots of good recipes out there. You do need to get variety, or boredom will do you in. I like stir frys and chili made with meat only, no beans. Here's a site with a lot of great recipes. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/recipe
