I used to have a sign is my locker: "This is tough, but, not too tough". I did not like healthy back then, but, I am hopeful now. Getting unhealthy is easy. Getting healthy is hard work. There are lots of sayings about that. I like Dorys' best: "Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming..." Just substitute your exercise of choice. Just keep on going...

Exploring DC

Sunday, April 06, 2014

We got back from our vacation to DC on Friday. We were always on the go and I could tell how out of shape I really am. We went sight seeing, enjoyed the museums, and saw the baby Panda, Bao Bao at the zoo. It was the week of the cherry blossom festival and I was totally bummed that they hadnt blossomed yet. It was a little chilly. I think the highest temp it got up to was the low 60s. I tried to watch what I ate. A lot of the times me, Abs, and Brandon got 2 different entrees/dishes and shared our meals but I'm pretty sure I still over ate lol. I had a lot of fun and miss my cousins already :( Here's some pictures...enjoy :)

Eating on the national mall lawn :)

Love DC! My husband is from Woodbridge VA which is only about 30 minutes away so we visit quite often. I never get tired of it!

I love the zoo. and on behalf of DC, I'm sorry the cherry blossoms weren't out yet, like the rest of the us, we had a particularly harsh winter and they were expected to come late this year. Glad you enjoyed DC!

2014 (Wedding Pics Included...Finally)

Thursday, February 27, 2014

It is almost 3 months into 2014...so very hard to believe. I've kept telling myself over and over that I needed to get back into this but would never follow through. So, today I decided to get on spark and see how my spark friends are doing and hopefully get some motivation. I updated my page and posted new pictures and after this I will be making my workout calendar and plan my meals. A lot has been going on since the last time I was on. I had started night shift in August and I have fairly adjusted to that schedule. Some days are better than others. I'll have days where I sleep just enough and be perfectly fine but then there are other days where I'm completely exhausted and all I do is sleep. Working night shift has my eating all out of wack. I don't know what to consider breakfast, lunch, or dinner so if anyone has any tips on that, that would be great!!
And then I have a health issue going on. Since I got married I am so very ready to have another baby. I have irregular periods...its been like that for years and I have never thought anything of it since I wasn't trying to get pregnant. Well, now that the time has come to wanting babies I talked to my gyno and she ordered up some labs and a test that checks my tubes and uterus. Well my prolactin level...which is controlled by your pituitary gland...came back high/abnormal so I had to get a MRI to check for a tumor...which came out fine...Thank God. But now my gyno is referring me to an endocrinologist to figure out why my prolactin level is high because she thinks this is what's causing the irregular periods. So I figured getting my weight under control and just living a healthier lifestyle might possibly help with this whole situation.
More exciting news is we are looking for a house. The terms for why we have to buy a house isn't the greatest but this is an exciting and very confusing process lol. I was hoping to have more money saved to buy a house in a few more years but due to certain circumstances we've decided to just buy a house now instead of renting another. We're hoping to move after my daughter's school year is over because she will have to switch school districts.

March 2013 Plan

1. Pack food for work
2. Water! Water! Water!
3. Lose 1/2-1 lb a week
4. Only eat out once a week or not at all!!
5. Fruits & Veggies for snacks!!
6. Start C25K and finish it!!!!

The last time I wrote a blog was before my wedding and it was about not fitting into my wedding dress. Well, the day before the wedding I was down to 163 lbs (goal was to get to 165) and my mom had taken out my dress and actually had to put it back to the way it was originally so it would fit right. The only thing was I had some back fat but other than that I fit my dress and had the best day of my life! Hope you enjoy the pictures...sorry they're so late lol and sorry there's only a few and not a lot are the professional ones...idk why but it always says theres an error...

Every Bride's Worst Fear...

Sunday, October 06, 2013

Yup...it happened to me. I wish I could say my dress didn't fit because it was too big but nope it doesn't fit because it is too small. My mom is doing the alterations on my dress so I really slacked on getting back in my dress. I was already nervous to begin with because I knew I had gained 10 lbs since I tried it on. So when it was at the one month left mark until the wedding I decided I had better put on my dress so my mom could start the alterations. Well, the dress wouldn't zip...wouldn't even clasp at the top. I had the same spanx on that I wore when I tried on the dress and the dress itself has a sewn in corset. I wanted to cry. I am an emotional eater so of course I wanted to go eat everything I could but I didn't. I decided on that day that I would stop eating carbs and sweets and I would continue doing C25k. Little did I know that I would start TOM that week too... WORST WEEK EVER!!!! There were a couple times I had some sweets but only in moderation. I've only been having carbs in moderation too, usually at dinner time cause I love me some mashed potatoes. My goal is to get to 165 by this Friday since the wedding is this Saturday...I only have 2 more pounds to lose. I tried my dress on about a week ago and it could clasp and zip just a little. My mom said there was just enough material to take it out more so just to be on the safe side shes doing that. So, I'm hoping, praying, and crossing fingers that it will zip up on wedding day...such a stressful situation and I put myself there. The past 2 weeks I haven't been doing C25k either...ughhhhh. I plan to start back up on week 6 tomorrow! Other than that I am so excited to marry the man of my dreams. There's still a lot of little things left to do but I'm very ready and excited for the big day and honeymoon!! Can't wait to share pictures!!

Your marriage is far more important than a party or a dress. Take a deep breath. It'll all be OK.
