A&I Winter Activities blog

What are your favourite winter activities? Share anything you like to do, whether it's active or sedentary or somewhere in between.

I really don't do anything outside in the winter because I have asthma and I can't breath the cold air. Other than shopping and hanging with family over the holidays it's not a time to be particularly active in anything.

I do like to meditate and reflect where I've been over the year and what I want to get done. I love the opportunity to start with a "clean slate" and do a make-over. I don't "spring clean", I "winter clean" LOL!

That's pretty much all I do. Short but to the point!!

    I know what you mean. I don't really do spring cleaning either. It seems like winter cleaning is the best time to de-clutter the house. If you do heavy cleaning you can count it as exercise you know?! It's in the fitness tracker. emoticon

    Hey, if you can't go outside, cleaning is definitely a great alternative - and depending on the cleaning, it can really get your heart rate up!

    I'm like you, i do more cleaning in the winter than i do in the spring...i've always been kinda weird that way. I will have to say my favorite winter activity is after all the work and running are done, at the end of a long hard day...a nice hot bath, then in my jammies and cuddled under a blankie with some hot chocolate :)

    I like the idea of winter cleaning and starting a new slate. I like your blog. I am sorry your asthma keeps you indoors during the winter, but hopefully you have indoor things to keep your time occupied. emoticon emoticon

    I know the gain seems to intensify any pains I'm having, so I'm not as active outdoors as I want to be or was a few years ago.
We all do what we are physically able to do during these colder months - the important thing is that we enjoy what we are doing. (That probably is why I don't "winter-clean!")

Good morning!

I joined the Spark Flyer's challenge to Finally Loving Myself from now til Valentines day. One of the challenges is to blog daily and another is to come up with three things I love about myself, so I figured I would blog on those 3 things rather than just think on them and that way I have a record of them I can refer back to when I start stinkin' thinkin'.

1) I love my hands. I have very talented hands. They are able to do lots of things like touch type and spell things (I spell better typing than not) and without them I wouldn't be much good at much!! :)

2) I love my eyes. I have really vivid blue eyes, especially when the sun hits them just right.

3) My love my faith. I am deeply spiritual and it is a strong solid foundation in the middle of chaos.

Good morning!

I joined the Spark Flyer's challenge to Finally Loving Myself from now til Valentines day. One of the challenges is to blog daily and another is to come up with three things I love about myself, so I figured I would blog on those 3 things rather than just think on them and that way I have a record of them I can refer back to when I start stinkin' thinkin'.

1) I love my creativity. I have the ability to think very creatively about things and do creative things. I do or have done in the past: stamp, cross stitch, embrodery, card making, scrapbooking, ren faire, singing, drama, scrolling, etc. and also have the knack for creative solutions to problems and such.

2) I love my hair. My hair is often unmanageable, and I can't seem to "do" anything with it but I love it as it is... the actual hair itself! I think it's very pretty and while the strands are very thin the hair is very thick and so it doesn't show that I shed a lot with my hypothyroidism.

3) My legs, especially my lower legs. Although I'm overweight and I have fat on my theighs, my legs are still fairly decent, not HUGE like some women's are, and my calves are rock hard.

Edema, Inflamation, Water weight, and Success

So... my goal in January was to lose 5 lbs.

I'd gained 13 lbs from Halloween through the New Year... talk about depression/holiday eating!! So yeah, it's the 7th and I've already lost 6 lbs!! WHOOO emoticon

I know that most if not all of it is water weight and some folks would be like "yeah, it's just water, it's not REAL weight loss"... but -

The deal is, if I reduce the water in my body (while still maintaining perfect hydration through drinking plenty) it means I'm reducing my edema and inflamation as well... and inflamation causes pain (and I have plenty of that thanks, don't need any more!!)

So... I'm thinking... WIN WIN!! ;D

    Congrads!! Woo-HOO we are DOING IT!! I lost 5 lbs this week too, eating more fruits and veggies and drinking a LOT of water, and I feel really great. This time next year we are going to feel so much better!!

    I don't quite understand when people say water weight is not "real" weight - water weight lost is weight your body is no longer carrying around - and that seems pretty real to me.
My goal for January is to lose 5 pounds, too. Tomorrow is weigh day and it's not going to be a good one! I've made poor food choices too many times and had to cut way back on my exercise.
Oh, well - Next week will be better.

The more I come and look at my page the more I love it. I think life was so much simpler back in the day and when people got up in the morning there wasn't all this stress and constantly being on the go. They knew where they were, what they had to do that day and that's all they did. I am looking to get to that place as far as possible at least internally while having to live in this modern day. They also lived seasonally and ate seasonally. They didn't mess about with junk food and they lived close to the earth and her natural cycle. I think that is a much healthier way of life.

    I love the pictures -they are quite peaceful and looking at them will definitely help de-stress. Oh, for the simpler times! I feel that calm and peace when I go hiking in the middle of a remote area with beauty all around and no cell phones, internet or TV!

    LOL - my grandparents lived like that, and I can tell you one thing for sure. They never had to go to a gym to get a workout! She was 87 and he was 101. Natural is the way to go!
