All Packed And Ready To Go!

We finished packing tonight for our trip. We are sharing one suitcase which we will check and each of us will carry on a small bag. My new replacement cell phone arrived just in time for our trip. The other one kept dropping calls and at times wouldn't even ring. So far, fingers crossed, this one seems better.

I have set the alarm for 7a.m. and my outfit is chosen and ready to wear for tomorrow. We will pack up the dogs and take them to hubby's brother and proceed on to the airport. Since I will not have access to a computer, I will be taking a Spark break until next week.

I will miss all of you while we are gone.

I Finished My

Yesterday, I decided to buckle down and make a list of any remaining things that we had to before our New York trip. I clipped coupons last night and made a list of stores/places that I needed to visit. I'm happy to report that I finished every single item on the list today! The only things left to do are to pack, give my sister a house key and take the dogs to my BIL's house. He has graciously offered to take care of our K-9 babies while we are traveling. Being organized is so helpful and reduces the chances of forgetting something. I'm sure that we'll still miss something but hopefully not anything major!

Getting Ready

Hubby and I are getting ready for our trip. We both have mixed emotions about it. We dread the burial but I, at least, am looking forward to seeing my DD and my sweet aunt. I made our motel reservations last night. We already made our flight reservations about 6 weeks ago. We will also visit my mother's grave while we're up there.

I have my goals all in place, have reading material and puzzles to keep me entertained. I will bring some snacks too to help me stay on my plan. I need to get some snacks for hubby because he has to watch his blood sugar.

Tomorrow and Tuesday, I will squeeze in as much exercise as possible. I will look for exercise opportunities during our trip when ever possible. I'm trying to look at this as a big adventure instead of a necessary family trip. Perhaps that will lighten the mood a bit.

Goals For The Next 12 Days

It felt great to get back into the water yesterday after being out of commission for several days. I've been out of sync off and on for the past month due to illness and tests. Now that the testing is over and my system is getting back to normal, I want to get back on track with my food plan. Exercise has never been an issue with me but eating proper portions at regular intervals has been an issue.

We will be traveling to New York this coming week to bury my FIL's ashes. My goal for the week is to do mindful eating. I'm talking about eating with the purpose of nourishing my body at regular intervals. I will be under stress and to avoid getting sick again, I will need to watch the sugar, eat lean protein, veggies/fruits and complex carbohydrates. I will be attempting to do this while eating out at restaurants the whole time we're gone. I will attempt to keep my goals simple so that I'll be successful.

Goals for the next 12 days:

1.) Mindful, purposeful eating at regular intervals
2.) Keeping hydrated
3.) Watching my fatigue level and getting appropriate rest
4.) Using a journal to log food, water, exercise and to emotionally vent

That's my plan. I'm keeping it simple and later I will use the journal as a tool to track patterns. I will not beat myself up if I slip or don't meet any of my goals. I will just get right back to my goals and sick with it.

    Amazing goals ~ Again I am sorry for the hard part. I remember the trip for my fil's ashes. It was hard, but we kept it as light as possible for my dh. Thankfully as the time dd1 was 11months and we made a mini vacation for her. It was great and sad and a proud moment for us.

    Awesome plan. It is difficult to stay on trach while traveling. I pack as many healthy snacks as I can and stop at supermarkets for fruit rather than fast food places. It all helps.

Tired But Pleased After My Tests

Yesterday, I had my endoscopy and colonoscopy. For the first time since 1998, my stomach appeared normal. By this I mean that the red streaks and erosions are finally gone! I only had one polyp removed during the colonoscopy this time, which is also an improvement. I also didn't get sick from the anesthetic and my blood pressure was steady. This was an improvement from the fluctuating blood pressure that I had during my September surgery. Of course they used a different kind of anesthetic this time which was a short term anesthetic. I did wake up during the first procedure and opened my eyes. I groaned with pain and looked at the doctor and they put me right back under, thank goodness. I'm glad it is all finished. I'm thoroughly sick of being poked and prodded!

My progress, shown with these tests, proves a healthier lifestyle is working where I can't see it every day. There is more than one way to measure progress on my journey to health.
