This Makes Me Feel Happy!

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

My Spark friend RUTHIEBEAR wrote a blog about this great uplifting video. It made me smile, so I'd like to pass it along to everyone. If you have the time, it is worth a listen!

I Did It! I'm over 100,000 Fitness Minutes!

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

I'm so excited! I have not only hit the 100,000 Fitness Minutes goal that I set, I am currently 156 minutes over my goal. When I joined Spark People in 2008 my goal was to log 100,000 fitness minutes. Now I have 100,156 and will set my next goal at 200,000 fitness minutes. I can do this and be successful!

For The First Time Since 1993....

Friday, March 30, 2012

Today, for the first time since 1993, I was able to swim a couple of lengths in the pool. I never dreamed that I would have the range of motion with my neck to be able to do this again. I know that I must be very careful when putting my face into the water and turning it sideways to breathe but that I was able to do it at all is a miracle. The reason I tried swimming today is that I have to swim two lengths of the pool in order to become a water aerobics sub (after I take the classroom training). I was assured that I can do any swimming stroke that I choose. I also did some floating/paddling on my back which was very relaxing. I did find that I got winded quickly when I put my face in the water so I will have to build up some stamina with that type of swimming. I swam for about 30 minutes and I have to say that I was thrilled to be able to do it!

Invitation To Be A Water Aerobics Sub

Thursday, March 29, 2012

At the end of our deep water class, the instructor came up to me and asked me if I would be interested in becoming a water aerobics sub. (I've already taught the class 3 times when she had to be out) It involves some training and a fee of $75 for the training but it sounds like fun. The training class will begin sometime in May. As long as it isn't at the end of the month, I'll be okay (taking FIL's ashes to New York for burial in late May). I got a little more information about what is going to be involved and now I'm looking forward to the challenge. Hubby even agrees that it might be good for me!

Fun At The Craft Fair

Saturday, March 24, 2012

My sister and I journeyed out this morning to a local craft fair. We bought a few small, fun items and then headed to the mall. We met my hubby at the mall for lunch. Hubby and I split some Chinese chicken and veggies (and some rice). We both drank big 17 ounce glasses of water with it. Hubby was a champ and shopped with us because this was my sister's first outing without the wheel chair. We were afraid that she might not be too steady on her feet. She was funny to watch after being cooped up for 6 weeks. She reminded me of a little kid in a candy store. After about 3 stores, she was limping badly so we called it a day and came home. We had a great time and walked for about 3 hours. I'm pooped!
