I made an interesting discovery as I began to read more food labels. Many things that are heavy on sugar are also heavy on salt. I knew about salad dressings, canned goods, frozen meals, cheese and other dairy products. What I had never looked closely at were energy bars, cereal, baked goods and sweets. Depressing but true is the reality that most things that you buy at the grocery store contain sodium and high fructose corn syrup. One way I can get away from them is to make my own food and to eat more fresh fruits and veggies. Then, I know for sure what is in my food. It may take a little longer to prepare but I'm worth the effort!
