I Think I Have Flipped the Sweat Switch!

Saturday, July 14, 2012

So I know this might sound crazy, but I have never REALLY been able to sweat. I mean the kind of sweat that just drips and leaves your socks and underwear drenched. Yeah, I know that's gross, but THAT has never happened to me.

I mean I get hot and sweat, but it's mostly beads that just kinda run a bit, and my face turns beat red (sometimes purple). I'd even get a little a sticky, but I'd never just pour sweat . I've noticed recently that I'm sweating more, but the funny thing is that I haven't changed a lot. I've worked out in the gym, jogged, you name it, but whatever I'm doing now, is really working when it comes to sweating, and WOW does it feel GREAT! I am cooling down faster than i used too. It used to take me half a day to cool day (seriously), and that is with drinking water as well. I used to walk around with a red face all day once I got that hot, but now I feel NORMAL! Ok, well I feel as normal as I can emoticon.

Yesterday I noticed it big time, I got up danced, did some Pilates, and stair climbing. I was pretty sweaty by the then, and late afternoon I did Jillian Michael's 30 day shred, that kicked my sweat into OVERDRIVE. I didn't stop sweating till I took a cool bath that night. I even was sweating while washing dishes (weird). I flipped the switch and now it's hard to shut off. I don't know what's caused it, but I hope it continues, it gets old doing a minimal workout and feeling like your head is going to explode, not to mention when people see you and say things like " You better sit down and rest." ,then I have to say "I'm fine, just a little hot.". I'd turn so red people thought that I'd have a heart attack or stroke.

True Story, when I was about 6 or 7, and already quite overweight, our class had to go on a 5 mile . hike up to one of highest points in West TN, known as Pilot Knob at Nathan Bedford Forrest Stat Park. The hike started out fun, because I liked outdoors, but being that I was so out of shape, the little fat kid, could hardly handle it. By the time I reached the top, I nearly had a heat stroke, and teachers had to tend to me while all the other kids were having a big good time watching a movie in the museum. It is one of those things that you never forget.

I remember this wooded area very well. emoticon

Me, around that time.

That's not the only time I was in that situation; although, it probably was the worst. Actually one of my goals is to back and do that hike again, and maybe even do a bigger hike.

That kind of gives you an idea of how this not sweating thing is a problem, it's also hereditary because my Mom is the same way.

So anyway, I'm hoping that I keep sweating like this, for whatever reason is causing it. Funny thing is that I LOVE to sweat now, it feels so GOOD! Yeah I'm a total freak!

LOVIN' THIS SWEATIN'!!!

Now, I can't blog without some sweat motivation can I?....

This one always makes me smile

I can't help it, I have a thing for cats!

Too funny, sweat is fat crying and sweat is the cologne of weight loss!!!! Good for you for getting your sweat on. I sweat and the more you get into your workouts and consume water the more you'll begin to sweat in various places. My goal at one point was to see the sweat ring around my t-shirt --- now it's a normal thing when I put the work in. Great job emoticon

Being drenched in sweat to your undies isn't gross.. it's freakin' awesome! I never had done it before either. :) I love it that it happened to you! YAY!!!! That just means that your body is on over-drive to cool itself off because you are LAVA on the inside, girl!!! YAYYYYY!!! You know, it's because you are mixing it up and your body is all freaked out and like "What The Heck!?" lol

I'm totally with you though, babe. I LOVE the feeling of the sweat pouring off of me. It actually drives me even harder, faster, further! Yesssss! The other day, I felt it coming off of my legs and I just giggled.. 'cause I felt so freakin' awesome! :) YAY!!!!

One girl here on SP said that when she sweats, she is "melting butter".. HAHA!!

You freakin' GO GIRL!!! XOXO

"For the Body I want"- Red Hot Heartbreakers Challenge

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

It's interesting because I had planned on writing this yesterday, but I was so tired and so defeated, that I just didn't do it. Since it's my girly time, and I vegged all day and most of the weekend, I just didn't know how to get back on track. So what do I do, I open up my spark email and I find Nixxie's Blog for the "For the Body I Want", so after reading her inspirational words, I started digging through old photos, and I realized, that I had come to far to let a bad day mess up my whole week. I immediately started trolling' the internet looking for inspiration, and I found it!

This is me during my 35th Birthday Party in 2010 and me NOW 65 lbs lighter on July 6th 2012

I actually posted this comparison picture on facebook after the DG's last challenge .I began my journey on March 2010, after going on vacation and realizing that I had once again hit my top weight;this high (or low I should say) really scared me straight. I knew that I had to do SOMETHING and quick! I decided that I would make small changes and see what happens. I stopped drinking soda's and slowed down on the sugary treats. I immediately started dropping the weight, and I slowly added exercise, changed my portion sizes, and added more fruits and veggies. I managed to lose 75 lbs over the coarse of a year, and for he first time in my LIFE I felt like I was in control of my own body. By no means have I had the perfect journey;I have gone up down, and all around with my new lifestyle, but I have not ever totally given up! I rocked my weight loss last summer even after losing my job, and then embarked on a completely different journey of going to college to get my Degree. We have all heard of Freshman 15, but I really thought that I had it down, and that I would not fall, but I did. Not only did I gain Freshman 15 but I added three more pounds to that! Needless to say that my Summer goal is to get back to where I was so that I can move on and finish the journey that I started! I hate that I gained so much weight, but I have managed to get off 6 lbs and 5 inches for the first month, so I'm pleased with this progress, and I'm ready to move forward.
I know that my loss had not been fast, but I'm glad it's not because it took a lifetime to put this weight on, and it will take time to get it off. Once it's off, that's it. I won't GO BACK!

Slow and steady WINS the race!!

I also have some body inspirations, some of which I've always had, and others that I found. I want curves, I have never expected to be thin, and I still don't expect it. I just want to be healthy and have some curves.

I'm old school in my body style, but Mae West and Marilyn Monroe are truly my two favorites!

I think she is just so classy, although she was the "bad girl" of her day, a lady comedian with class is just my style!

No one can deny that the immortal Marilyn Monroe isn't one of the sexiest, most beautiful women of all time!

I think that this lady has some amazing curves as well!

Yes, curves are beautiful, and I think that a little meat is much sexier than ribs showing.

I think she is just gorgeous!

Yeah, I'd be OK with this figure! :)

Although I love curves, I certainly love muscle, and power! Shiva Rea is one of my inspirations because the way she moves in her Yoga poses, is the most beautiful, elegant, and feminine movements that I 've ever seen.

WOW!

I love her prayer beads, and of course the BIG cats in the background are AWESOME too!

Now moving on along...... I need a little food PRON to get this thing going! Tell me this just doesn't look awesome! Eat healthy to be Healthy!

!

Eat to Live not live to Eat!

When I want something sweet!

I like this because one of the things that I am trying to do is drink more herbal tea.

I like to look at these comparisons, to visualize myself.

Eat for you!

Oh to look this good in a slinky black dress.

This is a virtual model that displays my current weight and my overall weight loss goal.

I will eat for the body that I want!

And what is a blog without my favorite Hero's?

She-Ra - Princess of Power- Nuff Said

What a hot bod! Another warrior princess Xena

I love this chick!

Now, without further adieu'

Better Choices

Thursday, July 05, 2012

Today I ended my my Challenge with the DG's and I wasn't thrilled about the numbers, but it IS PROGRESS! Sadly, I gained when I started school, but the weight is going back down slowly but surely. This summer I have put most of my focus on eating better, my portions have stayed in control, but I've slipped up on my sugars, and carbs. I don't think I have EVER bought and eaten so many fresh fruits and veggies before in my life! I LOVE IT! One other thing that I have decided recently to do is eat the healthiest meals on the menu no matter what! I'm bad about going out and eating whatever I want as long as it's "somewhat" in reason, but it just ain't working, so I am forcing myself to eat the healthiest things I can find and checking on nutrition first! I was so proud that I tried the Simple and Fit meals at Ihop the other day. I had a Spinach, mushroom, and tomato omelet with a side of fruit ,orange juice, water, and about two bites of the pancakes and I got full! This overeating going out, has to STOP! It's killing me! I started the new Red Hot Heartbreakers Challenge and I have my goals in check. I will be back to my start weight before I started school, and then move past that! These are my goals, and I WILL get there this time!

Progress is always positive no matter how big or small it is! :) I LOVE your resolve about eating the healthiest thing on the menu. I did that last night at the Mexican restaurant we went to. It was still amazing yummy, I was OUT with my family, and I had a great time. And today, I feel about a zillion times better because for the first time probably in my WHOLE life I was in a healthy calorie range for the day and it just feels awesome! Small changes lead to big things.. I'm proud of you! XO

Water Bug

Friday, June 29, 2012

I finally decided to take my neighbor up on his offer to use their pool;he has asked me to over many times and I always refused till the crazy heat today kicked in! I ended up doing some sun worshiping and swimming. Well, actually I can't swim, but I did bounce around and run around the pool. I think I tried every aerobic exercise that I could think of. I actually felt the burn in my legs and got my heart rate up ! Maybe someday I can learn how to actually swim . I admit that I am a bit embarrassed by being 36 years old and not able to swim. I had a great time today, and I will go back along as long as my neighbors approve. I certainly have the greatest neighbors ever! Did I mention, that he is also fixing my car for me at a discount price? Great ol' country boys, gotta love um'. I did manage to get a little blistered out in the sun. I tried to put on sunscreen, but the bottle was just not working- not good. Luckily, I don't burn easily, so this isn't a huge problem.

Here are some pics that I took poolside.

Sun Worshiping

Almost two hours later- lobestery

Having a great swim (Ah, float...)

Cuddled up in "Lion King" beach towel.

Great day, I did 200 squats, lunges, swimming, and stayed in calorie range. Speaking of calorie range, my husband and I planned on CiCi's but it was so packed that we went to Bellacino's Pizza. When they brought The pizza out, and I saw the grease and cheese, I could feel panic set in. I knew that I would be eating it, and I didn't know what to do. I did end up eating it, and yes it was GOOD! I can recall once, that my hubby and I ate this whole 16 in Pizza in one sitting (NOT PROUD), but we made sure to get a take out box today. I checked the nutrition facts on the website, and it actually wasn't THAT bad. I still managed to stay in my calorie range. Thank goodness for portion, and self control!

You can tell by the pic, this isn't a place with many healthy options. Only a few salads really.

Great job staying in your calorie range! And definitely apply sunscreen-even if you don't burn easily, the sun is still doing skin damage. (Stepping off soapbox now!! :D)

Good for you!!! Love the pics by the way.

Love Bellacino's, when the kids lived here ate there quite often. Can't remember the last time, consider it next trip to Publix.

Remember to put that sunscreen on a good 20-30 minutes before you hit the outdoors AND apply it often. Hope you returned that bottle for one that works.

A Week of Freggies!

Monday, June 25, 2012

So this week our DG Goddess Challenge had us making sure that we eat lots of freggies (that is fruits and veggies). The challenge was to find new and fun ways to incorporate freggies into our meals, and blog about them!

So this is what I have come up with. I made some AMAZING salads this week. I am posting the recipes on my recipe website. But I'll give you some previews here.
These are some pictures of the veggies I created this week.
Better than Wendy's Berry Almond Chicken Salad.

Southwest Chicken Salad

Fruit and Veggie Salad

Spicy Tuna Lettuce Wrap

Veggie Grilled Cheese

Fish Tacos

Grilled Veggies with Ravioli

Dark Chocolate Cheesecake Stuffed strawberries with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle.
(Not the healthiest but good portion control and so Yummy)

Just a healthy breakfast.

Now for my highlight of the week. My famous Zucchini Bake.

GREAT Challenge, and I am making sure that I incorporate lots of freggies into my eating from now on! If anyone is interested in any recipes you can get some of them at the link here: (I'm working to get them all up so what you want might not be here yet.) You can message me or post to my Sparkpage if you want something specific.

Thanks again for the Challenge Goddesses!
