I didn't do the mini-challenge last week, but I decided to so it this week! I've come out of the gate pretty strong by deweeding,digging, and planting in my flower garden (not counting Yoga). I am looking to add a nice 3 mile walk as well. I had to take a break after pulling up two hedges by the root ( I kicked them out LOL)!

What are you most proud of in your fitness/health journey?
That would be my progress. I've maintained a 65 lb weight loss, and I have finally started to learn moderation in eating. I can also keep up with my hubby walking around. I walked about 12 miles and climbed some very step uneven steps up to a castle (crossing the Atlantic Ocean at low tide).
This was a huge feat for me!

Want to tell us about victories (especially non-scale ones) on your journey so far?
The things above just being able to physically ride a bike 3 miles (including uphill), climb those 500 stairs, cross the Atlantic Ocean at low tide. To wrap a towel around my whole body, have my husband put his arms all the way around me! Do Yoga without falling over because of lack of balance. But perhaps the biggest thing for me, is feeling confident wearing shorts in public .I had surgery on my legs a few years ago because of painful varicose veins. I have had these veins since I was 13 yrs old, and I have always been extremely self conscious of them. I only wore shorts with panty hose I would burn up in the summer because I would not expose my legs. Although I could not get all the veins removed, the pain stopped and my legs look so much better. I can now wear summer dresses and shorts and feel confident!

Are there goals you have set out for your body or things you want to be able to do at some point?
Oh yes, one biggy is to fit into this dress for a high school reunion (I should also graduate college by then!!!)
I also want to learn sword fighting- I love the female warrior!

This one is harder but Jennifer Hudson has been a huge inspiration- She is amazing for so many reasons!

And I know that she is not a real person but She-Ra has always been my hero since I was a little girl- and that hasn't changed :)
What about in normal life?
I am my biggest motivator but my hubby is a HUGE source of inspiration as well as my support system! I also have a dear friend Julie,who is a huge inspiration, she has lost over 150 lbs and continues to keep it off! As always God is always my biggest inspiration because I want to be exactly who he wants me to be!

This may be my favorite because it applies not just to weight loss but to my overall goals of being getting my BA in Commercial Music.
I just wanted to say that I have been going through a major transformation (overhaul if your will) for the past two years, of mind, body,and spirit. I have found myself in so many ways ,and I will do whatever it takes to achieve my goals when it comes to pushing myself. Needless to say, this girl is DONE!

Another year down in the books, and I'm a year older and wiser ( yeah right). So my birthday was really nice, I had a great overnight visit from my Mom. We went out to eat for two days. I have NOT been good at all. I maintained some self control for the first day, but yesterday my darling husband bought me chocolate. Normally, it's not that big of a deal to be around chocolate, but since my "friend" came to visit, I have been craving chocolate. Needless to say, I tore through a bag of dark chocolate Ghirardelli squares, and Lindt truffles in two days time. I still have the Almond Joy candy bar that I have not yet touched, but it's looking appetizing. Oh, did I also mention that I made him chocolate chip cookies? Yeah, I've been bad, but I'm climbing back on that horse! Not counting chocolate, I ate a grinder at a Pizza place, Chinese buffet, ihop ( steak and eggs), and this weekend Macaroni Grill for my birthday dinner with the husband ( storms preventing us going out last night.) The combination of bad celebratory eating along with my "friend" visiting has taken a toll on my healthy eating this week, so I'm forgiving myself and moving on! Let's do this thing!!!!

Well, I've been a bit quiet laely due to my starting college. For those of you who may not know, I made the decision this year to go to College. I have started as a Traditional Undergrad at a Christian University(where hubby works). I have been pretty nervous about the experience but I truly believe that may hard work pay off and I also know that it is where God wants me to be.
I have never REALLY been out of my comfort zone before BUT this time I am totally out of my comfort zone!!! Just to kind of give you an idea, here is a explanation of my first day...
Well I'm sure that many of us have fears and things that happened to us back when we were in high school; one of those fears might me those little tiny wrap around desk/chairs right? Well.. my thought is, SURELY by now they won't have those. Oh yeah, and I'm so glad we don't have PE right?
Ok, to get this started it's 8:00 A.M. and my first class of the semister is Health/Wellness. I get to class early only to find GUESS WHAT?? Wrap around desk chairs OMG! Let me tell you, I am SO glad that I have lost 67 lbs otherwise, those things would totally freak me out ( they kinda did anyway)!! BUT I fit in that desk just fine THANK YOU JESUS! Now, we have out introductions and the Instructor decides that lectures for Health and Wellness do not make any sense SOOO he says that we will be doing some physical activity!! Queue the wavy lines and 80's music. Getting picked last and sports for the fat kid (hmmm)- OMG REALLY !!!! YES, we are actually going to be doing sports activities like Vollyball etc.. Oh and I'm also in the class with several athletes as well-Welcome to College Becky!!
Ok.. on a POSTIVE note the exercise will be very good for me and I'll be able to say active at least 2 days a week! I am still VERY nervous about this but VERY thankful that I have already started a healthy lifestyle.
On to next class, English- Had to write an Esssay, WOW I didn't expect that at all!Hopefully I did ok on that :)
Algebra was last and guess what.. we had to take a test and I'm VERY week at Math.
So to sum it all up, I felt like I was in a haze walking around in a dream all day. it was weird....
This is a postive thing though and I should say that Chapel was AWESOME and pumped me up bigtime! I'm ready to DO THIS!!
Oh, and my eating is working our great with breaks throughout the day too YAY!! WARRIOR ON!!!

Biggest Loser Challenge. Go Blazing Blues!!!

So I have been doing this 10 week Biggest Loser Challenge.
The way it works is that you weigh in weekly posting your weight and all through the week we have mini challenges to ensure healthy habits and make sure we get activity. I manged to do all the challenges except Water activities because well.... I don't have access to water and I can't swim anyway!!! I pretty much blew the challenges out of the water! We also have Healthy points which is drinking 64 oz of water a day, making positive blog posts, or posts to other team members pages ect, and every day of exercising for 10 minutes is an additional point. I killed that too! :)
We also had to do drills and these are my week 1 scores followed my my week 10 scores!!!
This week's challenge is all about testing yourself and setting our goals for this challenge.
You can do any of the drills on any day, in any order. You only need to do each drill once.
Completing each drill and posting your personal results will earn you 10 points per drill.
Drill 1 - Do as many crunches as you can in 2 minutes. Post your total to earn your points.
Drill 2 - Do as many push-ups (regular, modified or wall) as you can in 2 minutes. Post your total to earn your points.
Drill 3 - Hold a wall squat as long as you can. Post your hold time to earn your points.
Drill 4 - Hold your arms out to your sides (at shoulder height) as long as you can. Post your hold time to earn your points.
Drill 5 - Do 150 step-ups (non-stop) using a 6 or 8 inch step. Post your time to earn your points.
Drill 6 - Hold a plank (on toes or knees) as long as you can. Post your hold time to earn your points.
Drill 7 - Hold a bridge as long as you can. Post your hold time to earn your points.
Drill 8 - Do as many jumping jacks, mountain climbers, high-knees, of jump-rope skips as you can in 2 minutes (pick an exercise that is challenging but SAFE for you to do). Post your total to earn your points.

My goal for the challenge is to lose 10 lbs and increase exercise to 180 mins weekly. If I reach this goal I will buy some new summer shorts

Drill 1 - Count of Crunches = 133 that is 68 more than week doubling week 1!!!
Drill 2 - Count of Push-ups = 65 -That's 28 more than week 1!!
Drill 3 - Wall-Squat Hold Time = 5:00!!!! That is 3 minutes longer than week 1!! Whoo hoo (my lower body is so much stronger!!)
Drill 4 - Arm Hold Time = 2.30- Thats a minute longer than week 1!! I actually felt my fingers start going numb LOL!!
Drill 5 - 150 Step-ups Time = 4.26- Not much better but something!
Drill 6 - Plank Hold Time = 2:16- Omg that still hurts! But still 25 seconds longer than week 1!
Drill 7 - Bridge Hold Time = 1.45- 14 seconds longer than week 1
Drill 8 - Count of Cardio Exercise = 70 Jumping Jacks (with ankle brace on :D ) Thats 38 more and doubling week 1
Earn 5 points for answering each question of reflection:
1) Did you reach the personal goal you set for yourself? -Yes!! I wanted to lose 10 lbs and I actually lost one extra pound putting me 11 pounds lost for the challenge!!! I also wanted to exercise for 180 minutes per week and I've gone well over that by exercising at least 45 minutes 5 days a week and sometimes even more!! I have been averaging about 225-300 minutes a week!! WHOO HOO!!!
2) What are you most proud of yourself for accomplishing during this challenge? Learning Consistency was the hardest part, though I did have some set backs I managed to push through them.I have also tried so many new things like Belly Dancing, Bollywood, Kickboxing, and Pilates which makes exercising so much Fun- not to mention buying bikes with my hubby and learning to ride again which has been a HUGE challenge but a blast!!!
3) What did you struggle with the most during this challenge? Consistency exercising. I would have a few really good weeks then after I went to my in laws to visit I stopped exercising for nearly 2 weeks and then had to start really slow with only 10 minutes a day and now I'm doing at least 45 minutes 5-6 days a week!!!
4) Did you learn anything during this challenge that will help you on your weight loss journey?Yes, even if I have bad days or even weeks I must reflect back and go down to small goals in order to build back up again. Once I am consistent in small goals, I can move on to BIGGER goals and build on what I've learned!!!

Since My Weight Goal was to lose 10 lbs in 10 weeks I actually lost 13!!!! Whoo hoo!
I also managed to lose 2.5 inches on my chest, 2.5 on my waist, and 2 on HIPS!! WHOO HOO! That's 7 inches WHOO HOO!!
CHALLENGE COMPLETED--- WHAT'S NEXT???
I am also doing a Challenge called Firecracker Sexy Beast which runs from July 4th(Firecracker) to Sexy Beast (Halloween) We have incremental goals set and I made the first goal late and the second one( New Moon) is next week. I need to lose 3 lbs to make that goal and may not make it but that is ok.
Update I made New Moon after my MAD Bike ridding this weekend!!!!! YAY-YA!
In order to make the Sexy Beast Challenge I need to lose 20 lbs by Halloween! Whew!! That's gonna be tough!! I'll keep ya posted!
