So I have been trying to write this blog for a few weeks now, and I finally feel like sitting down and discussing dreams, aspirations, successes, and failures.
For those of you who may not know, I am a full- time college student studying Music . Fall semester 2012 was no walk in the park for me! I had 10 classes with 18 hrs. and a 40 hour Internship to fill. I am the kind of person that does not give up, and I will push myself to the breaking point! Ok, so I reached it this time! I ended up dropping a class because it was simply too much, and I struggled to get through my Theory classes, BUT I MADE IT! I did not make the Deans List this year as I usually do, but that is OK. I was pushed to my limits, but I made it through!
This is totally how my brain felt all semester!!
Now, the downside..... I started out pretty strong, but by the time that productions started, and Finals hit (ALL AT ONCE), well... I wasn't so tough anymore. I ended up, getting a REALLY bad sinus infection that completely wrecked my voice jury, AND I bombed two Finals. I also TOTALLY stopped working out, and my eating was very erratic. This is the kind of stress that always messes up my healthy lifestyle.
Yea, this was pretty much me!
I shall say.. THIS IS TRUE!
Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
So my semester ended..... NOW WHAT? BREAK TIME WHOO HOO!
This was TOTALLY me!!
Ahhh......
i had a wonderful Christmas and New Year spending time with family and my hubby, and decided to sit down and plan out my New Year Goals- NOT resolutions!
So, with all of this being said, and the sheer fact that I survived and passed all my classes, with only a minor drop in my GPA, and a slight weight gain is AWESOME! GO ME!
Now without any further delay, here are my 2013 Goals!!
(1) To keep it simple,(Well that's pretty much the answer) I am toning things down A LOT!
I am taking a lot less hours (currently 8 classes and 12 credits).
(2) I will exercise at least 10 minutes a day (so far I've made 6)!!!
(3) I will track my food DAILY (another thing I stopped doing)- so far so good!
(4) I will keep a calendar. so that I do not fall behind- DONE
(5) I will spend more time with family and friends when I can.
(6) I will learn to say NO!
(7) i will stay on Sparkpeople more than Facebook (that is a hard one)- So far, I'm doing well.
Now for the biggy!
(8) I will continue my healthy lifestyle, and reach my GOAL this year!!!
Finding Balance, is normally an issue for me, but I knew I can do it. I have done some pretty amazing things this year, like publish a Music Review on a Music News website, and have that same Review published to the Artists website! Whoo Hoo! I attended a Record Label Party here in Nashville, and have been invited to more! Now more exciting things are coming down the pipe, and I am SO excited!!!!
Yes.... I totally have a thing for cats!!!!
Here are some recap pics for the year!!
Yea.. I am a BIG goof! This was my outfit that I had to wear for our concert at the War Memorial Venue here in Nashville! It was so much FUN!!!

Ok, not quite, but I decided to FINALLY pose in a bathing suit, this is something that I have NEVER done before, but I thought that it would be an appropriate way to end the summer! I did very well this summer losing 12 lbs and a combined 13 inches! I had hoped to lose more, but then I realized that it took me a whole year to gain 18 lbs, so losing 25 lbs did not seem so realistic after all. I am very proud of my success, and I know it will help boast me into the the hardest part of the year- The dreaded HOLIDAY season!!!!
This is a pic of me right before my Birthday on 5/15/2012
Now...... for the Catwalk *slight cringe* LOLZ
I would NEVER have done this before! I am actually pretty proud of pics although there is still MUCH more work to be DONE!
Here is a Summer Before and After!
I still hate that I gained the weight last year, but I have already constructed a game plan to prevent that from happening this time! I start my Sophomore fall semester on Tuesday and I have already prepared a pre-chopped all of my veggies to grab on the go.
I am also preparing a fruit salad in quick and easy portion controlled containers as well.
This time I shall NOT fall!!! I know this is going to be hard since I will on campus all day 5 days a week, but I REFUSE TO give up my myself!
We can find a way to OVERCOME and BECOME anything as long as we NEVER give up!
I am proving that I can BECOME the woman that I want to be one day at a time! I am 82 lbs DONE and so HAPPY!!!!

So today was the very day that I have been looking forward to ever since I completed Spring Semester this year- The President's Dinner!
So what is the Presidents Dinner you ask? Glad you asked, I'll inform you hehee...
The President's Dinner is a tradition that has been going on at Trevecca Nazarene University for years. Every year the President hosts this really fine dinner where everyone gets all dressed up for a formal evening of dining, fellowship, and usually some sort of "surprise" happens during this party. The party is exclusive for faculty, staff, admin, and their families. Since my husband is an Admin at the University, I am invited to the party. So far, I have attended the party for the last three years, and it is different every time. Everything about the party is pretty much kept top secret until the day comes.
Ok, so now you know about the party, the first question always is "What are we eating?" Usually, its' something uber fancy that I have never heard of, and today was no exception. Man, I wish I would have taken a picture but the menu was as follows:
Beef Short Rib with Rainbow Chard -What the heck is Rainbow Chard?
So being the trusty techy that I am, I googled this ;) and it's pretty close.
But what is Rainbow Chard really? WOW, what a simply divine looking green!
So here is the "skinny" on Rainbow Chard AKA Swiss Chard.
Swiss chard is part of the beet family. It is very high in vitamin A and K. Vitamin A is very beneficial for your eyes because your body can use it to create retinoids. A very important retinoid is retinol, a chemical compound well known for increasing the effects of the visual pigment, rhodopsin. Rhodopsin is very important for night vision because it helps rod cells to absorb light better. Vitamin K is important for blood clotting, cell growth and may help with bone development. One cup of fresh swiss chard can contain over 300 percent of the daily value of vitamin K. Swiss chard is also high in vitamin C, magnesium, manganese and potassium, and is a good source of iron, vitamin E, dietary fiber and copper.
-The leaf color of swiss chard is usually green but its stem comes in many different colors. This is why some people like to call it the rainbow vegetable. The flavor of swiss chard is somewhat similar to beets and spinach. The main flavors can be described as lightly bitter and slightly salty. If you are planning to cut down on your calories, swiss chard can be your best friend. One cup of fresh swiss chard can have as low as 35 calories.
Benefits of swiss chard
Great source of antioxidants
Helps prevent inflammation
Helps with blood clotting
Excellent source of vitamin A, C and K
Great source of fiber
Great for improving night vision
Promotes lung and digestive health
Me being the foodie and nerd that I am, I had to see what this strange food was! It sure is pretty, I can tell you that!
The other stuff I get LOL.
I'm pretty good with short ribs, carrots, green beans, hashbrown casserole, and salad
So, I was ok with most of the food but the Rainbow Chard was a bit too sweet for my taste.
Now onto dessert, Oh my my...... that DREADED word DESSERT. Ok we have two choices here either we get Turtle Cheesecake... WHOA.. wait just a minute.... did someone say.. TURTLE CHEESECAKE?? Yea, Cheesecake is probably my favorite dessert of all time, and Turtle cheesecake- REALLY? So what's the other choice, COME ON- Does it really matter?? Well yes it does.... and THAT is why we are HERE!
Ok, Ya'll are gonna hate me this, BUT I gotta make you suffer just as I did!
Choice 1- Turtle Cheesecake
Looks Amazing huh!!!
OR...
Choice 2- Fruit Torte? This is an actual pic.
The whole ordeal made me feel kinda like the Devil, and an Angel were fighting on my shoulder!
I was being pulled to the delicious TURTLE CHEESECAKE...... but the calories were bound to be better for the torte! I felt like I was being torn apart!
In reality, it was more like this...
!
Ok, dramatics aside, I chose the Fruit Torte, and it was SO good, although I am sure that it was loaded with sugar! I also left out the bread completely, and keept everything small today, so that should help.
So now that the food is out of the way, and we have had some singing, and speaking, what's left? How about the announcement of a surprise Employee BONUS!!!
So yes, this was an Amazing night, so I took a few after pics, and decided to compare them to last year. ..
These are last years pix
And now this year!
I defintely have more curves than last year!!!
Aren't we cute??? I always have to make hubby smile, and I inadvertently crack myself up in the process!
Oh and what is dressing up without the perfect shoes?
Funny thing, I noticed that these shoes are actually really loose, I have been a size 11 shoe forever, but I'm wondering if it is possible to be going down to a 101/2. Maybe it's just the shoe, but it was still a thought, and they were so comfy too!
I sure am one happy camper today that is for sure! Wonderful night, wonderful news, wonderful food (mostly), now hopefully it will be a wonderful Fall Semester! Oh and I LOVE my Alma Mater! Good OL' TNU

More Yoga!!!! This is part two to my Yoga VLOG ventures! I'm a bit more shaky in this one, but I enjoyed these exercises so much. I will say that my balance STINKS-It always has. I am really trying to improve that stinky balance, all the time. I really get into this side of it with the leg extensions. Wanna improve strength and flexibility? Gotta try some Yoga.....
