OUCH! and another cooking SUCCESS! Given A+ ( warning food pic)

Wednesday, April 06, 2011

hi all

the OUCH! is...

Mon: P90x : Chest and back = ARMS

Tues: missed Spinning so SWAM 2 miles = ARMS
Skipped PLYO and did Core Syn = ARMS

TODAY: supported friend joined YMCA Cross Training class = ARMS!

I took a 5lb and 2 lb weight! I normally can 6-8 lbs!

5 was IMPOSSIBLE....

and it's been since college I did STEP AEROBICS!

It was fun, but I found my body HEAVIER, less nimble ;p

DING DING DING new opportunities, new exercise out there!

HRM says 150-60 even ;p 300 cals burnt LOL

I didn't push myself ;p

on the the DINNER.

My problem is I get too creative... that is why I can't cook lol!
I can't reproduce my meals ;p

TODAY.....NO idea what I wanted to cook!

Refridgerator God said "BEEF FLANK!"

ok defrosting ;p

As CHERWHOAH said, last night food looks good BUT not healthy!

LOL so true and I only REALIZED that when I posted it!!

Too worried on the process FORGOT the MENU! I had a veggie in mind didn't cook it!

ANYWAYS.........LEFT OVERS, Left overs

I got creative ;p

The broth used to Marinate the chicken yesterday was a UBER or Over glorified chicken stock ;p

Add Tomato, Cabbage, carrots, and shredded left over chicken from last night!

I decided to my version of PEPPER Steak ;p I have made it a MILLION times all FAILURES!

I am a LAZY cook, I used to just chop and THROW it together ;p CHEWY TOUGH MEAT, veggie not evenly cook.....

this is what I did DIFFERENT! (PROBABLY common sense to you!)

1. Marinated the beef and Stabbed it to death!

2. Shear the WHOLE beef both side till brown (5 secs each side, HOT pan)

3. Take it out, and cook the veggie separately,

4. Take it out, and SLICE the beef

See how red the meat is.

When you are about to eat, just STIR-FRY AGAIN for till pink!

WOW hubby LOVED it, he knows I make this dish all the TIME!
asked WHY it was different!

LOL not LAZY and went through the steps

From yesterday's blanching experience

I learn to put some of the stock from soup in the pan!

Cook the HARD (white part of the Bak Choi) first!

then add the tender green ;p LOL (I know DUH-OI!)

hubby gave A+

Wednesday, April 06, 2011

Hi all

I am going to keep this format! b/c I love it!
it reminds me how far I am come, no beating myself up when it's so hard to see the wkly changes ;p

And I want you all to see HOW I got my result ;p

SP-friends just scroll to bottom for most recent

Last week was a crazy week! of UPS and DOWNS!

Down was upset that 10lbs gain from MIL visit and Spring break!

UP! 2 challenges to distract me from it ;p
started back on my DUAL exercise routine (run and p90xing)

TODAY I am 157.4! a lb away from bef the spring break ;p

BUT you know me SCREW the SCALE!

2 challenges?
LOOK nice

Cooking ;p
I am enjoying it!

On to PROGRESS Pics.....

This is my one and only bef pic (totally regret it! wish I had more)
180lbs I think

I have already lost 10 lbs on my first week just by eating right and moving
after 2 wks I decided to SWIM, but that didn't work out, so it started my running!

Inspired by a sparker whom I can't recall, I decided to do my own pics!

This pic is before I ever ran! and yes it's was only of 30 sec! 171 lbs

This was bef c25k, I just push distance, hurt myself! so PLEASE used the c25k!

WEEK 3: First 5k, 44 min
So I ran about 18 miles in total and ran my first 5k! 170 lbs

Week 4: START c25k
Fellow sparkers suggest C25k! So I started! 168 lbs

Week 10: COMPLETE c25k, 2nd 5k 28 min
Finished C25k in 4 wks (daily, 130 miles later) 160 lb!!!! 2nd 5k

Week 11: START b210k
Start b210k, 34.5 miles in 1 wk, (4-6 miles, 1st 6 miles, thanksgiving) 159 lb!!

Week 15: RAN first 13.1 miles training
vacay, 94 miles later, b210k lady slacking so push distance (1st 8, 10, 13.1 miles) 161?????

Week 18: START Half Marathon training (13.1 miles)
83 miles in counting from wk 15, registered for HM in training! 159!!!!

Week 19: ADDED Swimming
Not so many miles, Added Swimming, Day 1, 157 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Week 22: ADD P90x
155 miles in 2011, 7 swims, Plus P90x, 156.8 lbs ;p (down 2 from last week)

Week 29: first 1/2 Marathon 2:31:12
270.34 miles in 2011, 7 swims, P90x W6D2, and 5 Spinning (159 from 164)

Week 30: TODAY
280.47 miles in 2011, 8 swims, P90x W7D2 and 5 spinning, 1 Xtraining 157.4

Since p90xing
Wk 22 vs 30, 156 vs 157

LOL haven't seen result, either ;p
hiting POST.............

Ok I see my HARDWORK paying off

BEF 156, 164, 159 and today 157!!!

Wk 27, wk 28, wk 29, wk 30 TODAY

It was definitely WATER retention and SODIUM!
but look how it didn't UNDO at the last week! eventhough I am "heavier"
I got more TONED ;p

TOOK a week of water and back on tracking

emoticon emoticon emoticon

thanks for chking in!

I did it! SWIMMING and COOKING success (warning food pic)

Tuesday, April 05, 2011

hi all!

first of today was a SUCCESS!

1. swim/spin: I SWAM! I haven't in about 1.5 months!
I was 132 laps, 2 miles in 80 mins. PAR to the last time!

WHAT was not PAR was 4 strokes per BREATH was easy peasy!!!

something is happening, can't see it, scale doesn't reflect!

BUT changes are happening!

2. Caring: since not seeing anyone, lotion and gloss LOL

3. COOKING! On menu: INDONESIAN fried chicken and rice (ayam & nasi goreng)

It's semi-instant ;p Recipe from my real life sparked friend (also in SP)

First my lunch! YUMMY!
left over pesto with smoked salmon ;p (shoulda served it this way last night)

AND I love that I have lunch already to eat ;p

If you saw my Status: I had to prep the chicken at 2 pm

I messed this stage up!
should have waited to THAW chicken!
Kinda bland but YUMMY still ;p

Season the chicken in the seasoned broth!
Leave in the broth once chicken is cooked through (deep fry)

BUT I opt-ed to BAKE at 350 degree, 15-20 mins each sides.

WHEN hubby got home. FRIED RICE (over night rice)

Meanwhile bake the chicken

after: smelt so good, didn't take pic fast enough... hubby stole it

Supposed to be served with sliced tomato, but FAMILY wasa HUNGRY!

Hubby was so excited, so proud and yummy all the way!
except for the bland inside and flavor on the crust.

but definitely a REDO!

woo hoo

SO I don't blog again:
p90x is plyo tonight ;p

Same goals for tomorrow ;p

spark on

maybe one more blog for virtual relay I am sure we already crossed Riyadh

Uh? My 160lbs body functions like a 120 lbs body according to...

Tuesday, April 05, 2011

hi all

CALORIES BURNT calculators.

so last night...

I pushed real hard, 16 push up (real, whimpy ones) consecutively!
I couldn't do ONE, 6 weeks ago when I started p90x!

Last night I only burn 250 cals doing 90 mins of CHEST and BACK plux AB RIPPER X!

At week one, I burnt 400 cals!!!

so my wheels started turn!

It's true for my running too ;p
6 milers was at least 700-800 in the beginning

and now bearly push 550 cals!!!!!

SO out of curiousity I tried a couple different site. they DON'T take into about height!

Plug in 160 and 6 miler at conservation 6mph : 750 ish (right)

Plug in 155 (my weight at my lightest 2 wks ago: 710 ish (???????) not true 550

Plug in all the way to 120 to yeild 550 cals!!!

same for spinning class: I burn 350-400 in 1 hour class. 120 lbs too.
at 160 it said I should be burning at least 500-600!

I know SP fitness counter is a litle HIGH for me now!

Maybe this is why I am not losing weight my numbers aren't right!

And this may explain why:

when I start p90xing and running I was HUNGRY!!!! had to bump up to 1800 cals
and few weeks later 1500 is FINE again!

Anyone care to share some light into this?

Member Comments About This Blog Post:

Wow we are sooo on the same page with this problem as you no doubt read, Well I do think SP is high and wasn't until I kicked up workout that I saw significant results. In the beginning way slow but I was just post op and getting back into it. Now that I am steadily active and working out regularly I too was hungry. I started drinking meal replacements to lower my calories and eat one square meal and a snack. Trying to keep within 1200-1400 range might work better. I really want to lose 10 more and that's all.
As long as my clothes fit how I want and I can maintain I'm happy! emoticon

NTSOHLTHNT 4/5/2011 6:01PM

So it's time to get a heart rate monitor strap for that Forerunner 405 of yours and get some accurate calorie burn readings. I know what you mean, though. I do wear a HRM and sometimes I burn 300 cals on one day and 250 for the same workout the next day. What's up with that?!

Report Inappropriate Comment
OFFDREA 4/5/2011 5:04PM

My caloric burn has gone way down in the last few months too. The more fit you are the less your body needs to work. It gets used to things. My run last night I forced myself to run almost 3/4min mile faster then I normally do and I burned waaaaaaay more calories then I have been on a run that long.

Report Inappropriate Comment

Maybe it's time to change things up again. Are your strength training? More reps? Higher weight? Play with it until you see a change. Like the previous comments, your body get acclimated so easily that you have to trick it sometimes. Good luck!

Report Inappropriate Comment
NATKITA 4/5/2011 4:17PM

The more fit you become, the less hard your heart has to work to do the same things (whether the scale changes or not). Ergo, your HR will not go up as much and you will burn fewer calories. However, if you are replacing your fat with muscle, the HRM is not taking that body comp change into account (your new muscles burn more fat...For that matter, Sparkpeople trackers use an "average" (whatever that is) body comp for their estimates as well.

On the other hand, HRMs do wear out like any other piece of electronic equipment (perhaps more so, since they're constantly subjected to moisture, movement, and friction, and sometimes force). My old one used to get all squinky when I would do certain types of high-intensity cardio (almost like it couldn't keep up), and also when I did push-ups, because I think I was accidentally pushing buttons on the watch part of it). Do you maybe need a new one?

Report Inappropriate Comment
CANDYXPERT 4/5/2011 4:05PM

Maybe your scale is broken? emoticon

Report Inappropriate Comment

I think Spark's calories burned estimates are too high also. I wear a Bodymedia Fit that shows me I burn far less than Spark estimates. I'd rely on your HR monitor. When I feel hungry I listen to my body and eat a little more too.

In the 4 months Ive been on SP, ive entered all my fitness (except ST with my trainer since i cant figure out hte exersice names) and stayed within my range and no weight loss, but definately fat loss. So ive decided not to track my fitness in SP, and stay at or below 1500 calories a day... knowing that if im famished and hungry, i will eat fruit or nuts to be comfy....

Its such a science ive decided not to analyze it (which i tried to figure it out and have decided its not worth my time and effort because i cant BREAK the CODE).

Change things up, add intensity....YOU LOOK GREAT and dont worry about the scale, use your clothes as judgement THROW SCALE AWAY :) BE HEALTHY BE HAPPY...KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! emoticon

Your body adjusted. Its normal. Now you need to shock it again. I did the whole bmr and deficit thing last fall for four months, weighed/measured everything, used my hrm to calculate everything and I didn't gain or lose a single pound. Then, in January of this year I started the couch to 5k program and was cycling my calories, I started to come down a little. Now, I'm adding in coconut oil to bump up my metabolism and I am finally losing. My point is that your body is clever and adapts to whatever you are doing.

I have the same issues with calories burned too. I started Kettlebells and expected a higher calorie burn than what I expended and running is burning much less too. I think that you've conditioned your body to the point were you don't use up as much energy for movement. I just stick to my monitor for accurate readings. Great going! Your body is in tip top shape and ready for a harder challenge. emoticon

Some are high, some are low. at 5' I burn about 86 calories a mile. I really wish I burned what my treadmill said.. but that's based on a 170# man! oh well!

You are a lot fitter now and your body is used to those exercises. Those calculators can't possibly take that into account like your HRM can. I can't use the SP fitness calculator at all for any accuracy.
