I also think of this as a journey! But I don't see a wagon to fall from.
I put a post out about falling of wagon! and wrote this:
decided to keep it for future reference!!
I think of this lifestyle change as a cross country road trip!
If you try to pull an all nighter you just can't!
You have to take pitstops, get gas, check out the landmark, check out the scenery!
When you go cross country, you plan plan plan. I will stop at this state, see this, that. meet relatives!!!
and you might like a place, or get tired and stay a few days overnight! (aka plateau, your body needs a rest or adjust too)
I see my weight loss like that!
I can't just go go go! I stop to eat my PLANNED TREAT! go and have my PLANNED DINNER!.... havent done PLANNED VACA! but you get the idea!!!
BUT like all well laid plans, there is be a DETOUR, a ROAD BLOCK or a CHANG# OF PLAN!!
If you have a GPS:
you can re-route yourself on the spot
you can set to AVOID the route, go an alternative route.
you can just change your itinerary!
If you have a BUDDY: it will take a little more time but
your friend can guide you to next best route. it may not be as effecient as GPS sometimes
IF you are ALONE:
You just have to pull over, pull out the map and pencil!
You can go to a gas station and ask for directions!
You can pull into a motel/hotel and try again in the morning!!!
the journey is yours! Its not about getting there, but how you get there!
