hi fellow runners
I am all ears ;p
Bef my FULL marathon training....
I was "Do your BEST...Run til you can't run no more!"
But that only got me so far.... and lost momentum
and I lost to my mental block!
as my 6 miler, turn to 5 miler, to 3 miler
BUT with my marathon training, I LEARNT SOMETHING NEW!
ok.... not new
Interval train ;p
It worked then! so it should work now!
IF you care for distance
if you care for mileage!
to run 30 mins you need 30 mins of cardio and muscle right!
so when you interval train to 4 miles! your 3 milers will be easier!
and for me CARDIO and MUSCLE don't build at same rate!
CARDIO is easier to build up, and quickest to LOSE!
MUSCLE is harder to build up, but longer to LOSE!
so in the beginning, cardio can keep up but body failed
after MIA for 2 months
Legs wanted to keep going, lungs on FIRE!
but I digress!
my schedule is
1 LONG run (7-20 miles) @ 12 now
2 short run (interval or full)
1 Speedword (Hill, fartlek. bike hills)
I am liking this schedule!!!!
It coordinates to
SOME run are AWESOME
SOME run just plain SUXS!
so on the SUX days, I short run, or speedwork with all the available options ;p
I think I will con't this schedule even after the marathon ;p
running 3-5 miler everyday got so boring I didnt' want to run anymore (same locations)
With the above method
I went from not able to run a full mile to 12 mile nonstop in 5 wks
CAN'T wait to read your training schedule.
what works, what doesn't

First I want to say:
Some runs are AWESOME
Some just PLAIN SUX!
JUST plain !
for fellow running geeks
DISTANCE: 12 miler
TRAINING: Long run, turned NONSTOP
PACE: 11:45 min/mile
Just want to add..... this is for FELLOW RUNNER:
when I did C25K...I did the podcast!
i download, and play the morning of.....so I usually HAVE no idea what I am doing that day!!
IT WORKS b.c I just have to..... DO IT!!!!
This Marathon training is similar, I only look a week ahead ;p
only b/c I need to fit the runs into my week!
If I look too far ahead....
example: say next week is 15 miler (I don't know guessing).... I will push myself to do 15 today,
pysch myself out..by making today's run harder...because I am scared of the 15 ;p
SO I knew yesterday 12 miler this week.......
and ran today.... I felt great.....it's 3, 6, 12, speedwork, and/or cross this wk...
crossed nonstop 3 miler...ok 6 miler
crossed nonstop 6 miler...ok 12 miler ;p
b/c i know I only have one great run a week....
the rest is HARD and TRYING
so today was my 12 miler ;p
that is how I approach my runs ;p
HOW do you approach your runs?

My DD (8) did her first 10k yesterday, pics in previous blog.
It taught me and her huge lesson which I love to share
1. Don't say u can do something when u never did it! [only did a 5k]
2. Believe in yourself [she absolutely believed she can]
3. When hit with adversity 150% support will get u through, even if it's from ONE person.
[she complained, whine from first step, wet snowy frost bitten, but I held her hands and cheers push, some love some tough love]
4. When long term goal seems impossible, focus on short
[6.2 mile was like Argh! But that tree, fire hydrant, that corner was easier to get to]
5. What looks like a mountain from afar may be a mole hill
[Argh! I can't, I can't as u see the insane steep hill, really we are at the top, it's not as steep when u were on it]
6. I don't care if I am last, at least I finished [that is HER WORDS]
7. Don't be afraid to pat yourself on the back [yeah today she is like, I am all that hahaha]

So long story short:
as we drove past North park last wk
ME: Oh there is TER-RI-FY-ING 10k next week ( in my best spooky voice)
DD: What that? What is so terrifying, we bike HERE, ALLLLL the time (your best 8 yr old acting 16 voice)
I gave her detail... including the FINE PRINT! killer HILLS
I was even afraid to do it!!!!!
DD: It's just HILL, i did a 5k when I was 7.......so I can do 10k cuz I am 8!
ME: (marketing the 5k as best as I can)
But she made me register on the spot ;p
and talked it up to her friends at school
how only "ADAM" only every ran a 5k............
TUESDAY: I trained her around the pond (my usual hilly run, with tot in tow) 2 hrs
I think her will was broken.......but she is a ONE STUBBORN LITTLE BUGGER
said it was OK!
so THIS morning we dressed up ;p Falling apart mummies
my hubby said:
we were too pumped to care
drove...got out packet, Met fellow sparker LYNNANN43
Lets just say THANK GOODNESS INDOOR waiting area...
it was like a snow globe
5 mins bef start we TREKKED to START LINE
It was COLD
It was WET
It was HILLY,
It was SNOWY,
It was HILLY, very Hilly, oh i said that already
She was FROST BITTEN
Her fingers were FROZEN
BUT we WALKED up hill, RAN down hill!
PUMPED from volunteer cheers
She came in "before" me....
1:25 gun time!
DD: HA! I did better than you thought! under 2 hours!!!
making me the race finisher, I think, there was no one behind us LOL
OF COURSE phone died...no finish line pic
DD: it's ok mommy, I KNOW I did it!
went in to warm up...and they were servicing real food, not just banana
in car...BUTT warmer, and meat ball sub from the race ;p
chip time or garmin 1:22
or 13min/mile..... not bad considering, i run 12 min/milein full hahahaha
so proud of my DD;p
I asked if she will do it again...she said not in SNOW
so we are thinking great race ;p
but will train her properly
