Holy Buckets!

This past Wednesday I went up to Cedar Rapids and did a comedy contest. Out of 15 comics I took 3rd! I didn't have any want to win, I just wanted to do stand up in front of a new crowd. I was very happy with how well I did and am super excited to go back in a few weeks for another round.

To top if off the Friday before that I had my first paid show! I was so nervous but totally killed. The past week has been pretty crazy but I am so happy that for once in my life and I doing something that I love.

I know that if I hadn't taken those first steps about a year ago to start losing weight and stop feeling bad about myself there is no way I would have ever gotten enough courage to go up on stage and try to make people laugh.

I am so happy about how far I have come and look forward to my future in weight loss as well as comedy!

Comedy and other updates

For the past few months I have been attending the under ground comedy nights in Des Moines. I am proud to report that I have achieved my end of year goal and officially started making a name for myself in Des Moines comedy!

I get so nervous and worked up before I go on stage but have finally been able to just say, "F it." and be myself in front of a room of people. I have never felt so comfortable just being me in my life.
I'm not sure where this journey will take me, but I'm more than happy to be on the ride.

I feel like I've been slacking on my WIN challenge but the scale is staying the same, so it could be worse. Even if I'm not losing the weight I am doing something for me and feel amazing!

    This is cool! I don't think I'd ever have the guts...good for you!

We were at a comedy club a number of years back. Local & unknown comedians. Suddenly the manager gets up and makes an annoucement...Howie Mandel (pre-Deal or No Deal) was there checking out the local talent. He gets up and does a set.....man it was great and we had fantastic seats too. My husband ran and got his camera in the car and got some good shots. Maybe that'll be YOU someday.

"My goal before the end of the year is write more jokes and start getting up in front of a crowed more often. I need to not only work on my delivery but I need to work on being comfortable as myself in front of an audience."

Last night I took steps to getting into the Des Moines comedy scene. I went to a Tuesday night open mic night. I didn't go on stage last night as I figured a few nights of watching before diving in would be a good idea. There are two nights a week dedicated to open mic comedy in town, and I fully indent on attending them as often as possible.

I have no idea what I was so afraid of, the local comedians were very friendly and for the most part funny. It made me realize that I'm just psyching myself out, and I can totally do this.

I know my stage presents and overall confidence in line delivery are weak, but I think I can pull it together before the end of the year. If not who cares, at least I'll be trying, and that's more than I can say I've been doing.

    You can SO totally do this! There's only one thing that's holding you back--and that's you. So just get up there and do it! (And let us know how it goes afterward.)

Here it goes, week one of DONE girl fitness challenge. Even though I have not had a fitness challenge sense middle school I surprised myself but not being as awful and I give myself credit for. (I don't really think I'm awful)

1 minute of push ups = 7 it was more like 12 seconds of push ups and 48 of laying down saying, "ouch my arms"


1 minute of sit ups = 37 I used my small medicine ball, turns out trying to do sit ups for a minute on a hardwood floor really hurts your tailbone.

Pulled in at a stellar 30 seconds, once again this was not fun to do on a hardwood floor.

Last but not least here I am trying to fit into a "end of challenge" pants (size 9 dickies)

Thinking I need to pick up a yoga video to help my core strength and balance, any recommendations?

    Hey chica.... you look great! That endurance test was hard!! I think ONE of the hardest ones for me was the pushup crunch ball combo! But hey guess what.... WE GOT THROUGH IT! oh ya..woohoo!!

    Get The Firm's DVD "Buns, Hips and Thighs" (if I could burn it for you, I would). This really should be titled "Abs, Abs, Buns, Hips, Thighs, and More Abs" but The Firm guarantees visible results in 10 workouts. They'll get you into those pants in no time! Look for it on Amazon or Ebay.

We made it home safely from Colorado.

I did a really great job of staying within my calories while still having a good time. I even had enough left over to have a beer and not feel like crap about it. The only pit fall I had was not having enough healthy things to eat for the trip back so we ended up stopping at McDonald's. I didn't go over my calories or anything, but my streak of not eating fast food was ruined. Oh well, I knew I was probably going to have to start it over at some point.

Tonight I'm going to make this for dinner, I think you all should try it because it's super yummy.

For those of you that might not be a fan of meat replace the chicken with these

They are amazing.

As sad as I am to be back, I'm looking forward to starting a new cycle or wii fit and having time to take the pups for more walks.

I hope everyone had a great Labor day, and that this week treats them well. emoticon

    Glad you hear you had a great time and stayed on track. Occasional fast food, especially if you stay within calorie range is not too bad. However I respect you goal of avoiding it altogether. The healthier I eat, the less I enjoy junk. Hope that is you too.
