Return from trip to Harrisburg, PA. and Rochester, NY.

I'm so excited about losing 4 lbs. this week! That's a total of 10.5 lbs. Our trip to see my husbands family was a lot of fun. We ate out in restaurants almost every meal, but I'm really motivated right now and I made really healthy choices! I'll write more about my pattern of weight loss later. I do the same thing every time and I need to change, this time.
The trip to Rochester is too long , so we stayed in Harrisburg, PA. the first night. We always stay at La Quinta motels when we travel because they are pet friendly. I had planned to either go to Hershey or The National Civil War Museum but it was raining really hard when we arrived, so we went to the Olive Garden Restaurant for a late lunch and relaxed and watched TV that evening.

My husband and I moved to Virginia from California this year. He has family in Rochester, NY. and last week we decided, we couldn't put it off any longer, that we would make the trip this Thursday. I'm excited to go but, I'm worried about my exercise and diet plan. I decided that I will have a great time and concentrate on my goals. I have my second weigh-in on Thursday and I don't want to screw up so early in the game.
I feel lucky to have a really nice Fitness Center at the apartments where we live and I haven't missed a day on the treadmill. 1 hour for 60 minutes @ 3.0 mph. I plan to walk everyday on our trip.

    You'll be fine! Awareness is always a great thing. It keeps us on track.

Where in Virginia do you live? I have a friend who is, right at this moment, visiting Roanoke to explore the possibilities of relocating before he retires. We live in NJ and he's worried about making ends meet on social security because our housing costs are so high. He loves the outdoors and has enjoyed hiking in the Roanoke area this week, but this is his first visit and he has lots to consider.

Great Start!

My first weigh- in and I lost 4.5 pounds! I used my new Fitbit and that kept me walking all week. I set my goal to 10,000 steps and I'm such a geek, I love seeing my progress on my iPad and iPhone every day. (Many times a day!)
I decided to keep my calories at 1200 a day. I don't usually drink a lot of water, usually my first choice is Diet Pepsi, but drinking 64 oz's a day of water, I found that I've only been drinking 1 can of soda.
I can't wait to get my first 5 pound reward!
