Today I received a SparkPeople Appointment Reminder, that one week from today is my brother Ralph birthday. emoticon

I guess I forgot to delete it.

I had to update this blog.
Day is not going well, my SIL called her nephew, aged 23 just died. My nephew's cousin only 9mos apart. He was a sweet boy...I guess really a man. Just so young.

Losing steam

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

I am just losing steam.

This week the children were off from school. I have had some fun with them this week. Family over on Monday afternoon had a lovely time.

I knew this week would be tough in figuring what to do for cardio workouts since I won't take the kids to the gym. I can use my own weights for strength workouts. I been playing Wii and dancing to music but you know just not the same. I would have taken the kids to the HS track but they had play-dates at awkward times so it never workout.

But today, my DH took off from work. So, I had the opportunity to go to the gym. I was so excited, looking forward to some cardio and strength training. But once I was there I don't know what happen to me? I just could not get into anything. I did only six strength routines really struggling to do the third sets of all six. And cardio? Geees could not do anymore than resistant 10 on the elliptical and fizzled out after 35 minutes. I am sure the sleepless nights are getting to me. I been feeling "different" lately too. I am keeping up with my veggies, fruits, vitamins and water intake. I know I am fueled properly. I still look forward to my workouts. So, I know it is not burn out or being bored with my routine either.

It has to be the lack of sleep. Well, I hope it is anyhow. This way I can try and figure out a solution.

I am just losing steam.

Anne......I have days like that too, where I just can't get into the rhythm of the workout. Most of the time I just need a rest day and all is fine when I go back in a day or two! Take care, Terry

I see veggies, fruits, vitamins, water... I don't see protein in your list. I hope that you are keeping up there as well.

Just a thought on sleeping. A few years ago I had a lot going on with my family and sleep was NOT happening. My Dad(RIP) picked up a little box of Guatemalan Worry Dolls. Every night before going to sleep, I would tell one "worry" to each doll, put them back in the box, close the lid and sleep. It took a little while, but putting my worries away for the night did help me to sleep better.

Of course simple journalling might help too. But there was something about knowing that the dolls were listening to me about things I felt I couldn't talk to anyone about, or do anything about, really helped.

Spark on!

I hope you get some good sleep tonight. I think you need a nice long bath. I think next week when things get back to normal your system will get back together. Maybe some yoga?

Ah gosh, sorry you've hit a rough patch. If it is sleep related, then hopefully you can catch up a bit over the weekend with some rest and relaxation. Sometimes, we just go 'off' for a bit, but are able to get back into the swing of things pretty easily. You will!

Hey, at least you got to the gym and did something. Don't beat yourself up about it. Tomorrow is another day. Try some herbal tea before bed and maybe a relaxation download. I almost always have trouble sleeping. Sometimes that works for me.

WOW.. I can't do the elliptical at all!! 15-20 minutes tops and I am ready to die! Mixing it up it key to keeping motivated I find. I like to run alot.. I just put on my tunes and it keeps me going.

Do yoga when really needing to de-stress. Its calming and peaceful. After that take a long bath and you might just have the best sleep ever!

You need to relax and just get your mind off of everything that's bothering you. Whether it be consciously or subconsciously.

You've been through so much that I'm sure that you're going to have the off day or so. I really hope that you manage to get a good night's sleep tonight.

I went through that after I was so sick earlier this year. I'm finally getting my spark back. Is there a certain reason why you aren't sleeping well? That does play a major role in energy and other areas, too. I hope you can figure it out and get the sleep you need, Anne.

Yes, he loves me...

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Well, I planned Valentine's Day meals this morning. I knew DH made reservation to eat at a local Polish restaurant. So, I made sure I ate light, low cal and low fat and get this NO snacks either. I knew what I was going to order, including side dishes and dessert. I stayed on track and did not go over my nutrition range.

We got the kids cards and put made up gift cards to spend $14.00 (DH's idea) because Valentine's day is on the 14th! Cute & odd but still cute. The children were so happy...more DSI games for Logan and another Monster High doll for Sylvia. Barely got the gift when they already decided how to spend their money. (their Father trait...I am a saver).

However, the best part of today was my chocolate candy treats. I got, per my request, chocolates from my DH. I figure I eat it in moderation within the week and share with my family. But the real surprise was that DH went out of his way to buy 70% cocoa smooth dark chocolates for me. Wow, he actually remembered my speeches about articles I read from SP. I asked for chocolates but he took it a step further. Now that is the real present...I know he loves me! emoticon emoticon

That was really sweet. I guess when we keep talking about what we learned on Spark, it eventually sinks in the rest of the family. I guess they really DO hear us! emoticon

So glad that you had a good day with your family and that your sweet DH thought exactly what to get you.

I read a blog....

Monday, February 13, 2012

A fellow spark buddy (cmj4v13) blog about a site on street poetry by Scottish artist Robert Montgomery. I really like this one (#13):

"The people you love become ghosts inside of you and like this you keep them alive"

It put tears in my eyes.

I read this article the other day. It has some great information. I have a friend that is a heart disease survivor. She is amazing and quite the runner.

It's always good to know. One can never have too much information. We just have to make sure we actually use it.
