Bored

Friday, March 11, 2011

Well, my children have friends over and are having a great time. This does make me happy. But gee I am bored! I am watching over the two groups: boys & girls. Boys in the family room girls in the living room then the boys want to go in our attic rooms where there is another game system Okay I tracked up to watch them and the girls now want to play with the kitchen which is in my daughter's room Okay I listen to them. I give them snacks, drinks & pizza for dinner. But I am so bored that all I keep thinking is where are the chips? ice-cream? candy?
My husband is at one of his K of C meetings and won't be back until much later. And the moms of these children took me up on the "You don't have to stay. Go and do something for yourself." Which is fine but this leaves me with no one to talk to accept this lovely box of chocolates. So, I am sparking but don't feel much like reading so I am blogging about absolutely nothing! Yeah, I am bored! This could be deadly for me and my weight loss efforts. Maybe I am being tested? If so, this test s_ _ks! I have a can of seltzer in my hand to help fend off the enemy. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh, I already had emoticon emoticonfor dinner and so far I am within my nutrition range. However, it is only 7:33pm. What was I thinking? Next time I'll make sure my DH is staying home too or at least invite a friend to converse with. emoticon

I sure hope I don't blow it because I have not went over since last week.

Ugh!!!!

I hope everything went ok last night. I've had those nights and they are torture. I hope blogging helped. Sometimes I will throw in a chick flick movie if the kids are elseware. The guys don't want to watch Pretty Woman or One Fine Day so it feels like a guilty pleasure emoticonHave a great weekend.

It sounds like you are craving adult conversation! Another spark friend and I have exchanged cell phone numbers so that we can text during the day. If you want to do that let me know.

I hope you were able to resist the chocolates. I hear they aren't very good conversationalists ;)

Boredom is one of my worst - stand in front of the fridge and catch everything that leaps out at me - please tell me you had a chat with yourself or something so that you didn't gorge on huge numbers of calories!!

Sometimes I give myself a pedi or Veet my legs or something to relieve the boredom but maybe you don't want to scare the kids??

Hugs

Nothing like saying "Oh, no! You don't HAVE to stay. Go do something for yourself..." Next thing you smell is the burning rubber as the car speeds away.

You sound more disappointed than bored. I would be too. Next time tell them to bring the coffee one their way here.

Hang in there my friend. emoticon

Just tracking

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

I measured my usually body parts today. I was real good in the beginning to measure monthly (& weigh in weekly)but I can just tell that there is not much happening in this area. So, I have not measure since the last day of the year (Dec 31). Last year I lost a total of 18 inches and as of today I lost 21.5 inches. A 3 1/2" difference in less than 2 1/2 months. This makes me feel much better since I have not lost much weight since.

Break down since May 3, 2010 to March 9, 2011

Waist 7"
Hips 8"
Thighs 2.5"
Calf 2"
upper arm 2"

I understand the waist, hips and even upper arms but the thighs and calf just confused the sh_ _ out of me. You would think with the type of cardio I do the legs would firm up more then the other body parts. I believe it is the weight loss that contributed most to the shrinkage of hips & waist.

It's great when a person takes out that measuring tape. I find it far more gratifying than the scale.

The legs may well have firmed up and lost considerable fat and that is the whole point :D Well done !!!!!
I hate it when fat sits in my saddle bags :D I much prefer to have hollows. So ... accept it and soak up the congratulations, since you are obviously doing lots right

SP reports?

Tuesday, March 08, 2011

I want to learn, really I do.
I decided to check out and look over my SP nutrition reports. I want to see if I can figure how this SP tool can help me focus on my healthy weight loss and conquer my constant plateaus. During this assessment I look over today's pie chart for my nutrition. Not bad but slightly off yet I was with in all my ranges except for my calorie range I actually was right on the button (to the right). Too close for comfort.

BTW: I can't see how this tool can help me with my journey. Back to the drawing board.

Maybe I should start with the fitness report?

I think it is helpful to know if you are eating too much in any one category...that way you know what to try to cut back on. I seem to feel the best if I am on the low end of the range for carbs but on the high end for protein.

I use the nutrition tracker to keep an eye on calories but I have my own proportions - don't like the 50percent Carbs at all!!

Also keep an eye on minerals such as Potassium, Sodium etc - these helped me cut back on buying some Vitamins and Minerals and I cut back on bananas and some other items as I was way over on Potassium. Anyway - it's like most statistics - it's all in the eye of the beholder (or BS - Belief System :D ...)

I track it, but I don't pay attention to the recommendations. It could be that your metabolism has slowed down enough to match your food intake.

I track my salt intake and fibre as well . It keeps me on the ball as far as keeping healthy.

Fitness reports could help.

Not much plan for today. I dusted and vacuum today and caught up on my TV recordings.
As for my cardio and strengthen routine I need to mixed things up again. Especially since my ankle still is in pain. I been working out about the same amount of time but not as intense so calories burn are quite low this past week. I think I will step up starting today my strengthen routines. Most can be done without adding pressure to my ankle. A little concern about how long it is taking to heal. I did not think it was this big of a deal. In fact, as I write this blog I am icing it again. Which I stop Thursday morning. Should have thought to ice it after belly dance class last night. I will be fine I know I will.

I like being active again. Who knew how much I missed it. Certainly not me.

Might need to get the ankle checked out. Hope it gets better soon. I had a sore foot and put off seeing anyone for ages thinking it would get better by itself and it didn't. So finally "gave in" and went to a dr, then a orthpedic specialist who ordered a scan and it turned out to be a synovial cyst. So had a week of intense physical therapy , antiinflamatory drugs and an orthotic made to go into my walking shoes. It took months to get better completely! Who would have know! emoticon

Do you have an ankle brace or ankle guard to protect it from instability whilst getting around and belly dancing etc? Please see a doctor - if you don't, it could become a far more expensive prognosis!

Hugs - look afer YOU!!

If your ankle is still bothering you, maybe you should have a Doctor look at it. I was sore on the bone between my right thumb and wrist and finally saw the doctor when it hurt lots to turn the key in the ignition. Found out that it was a stress fracture and that I had rebroken it several times.

Get better soon!

A Day of Peace created by Stephen Danger Shoemaker

Wednesday, March 02, 2011

A good friend of mine that I know since I was about 17yo sent this to me via facebook. (Ironically) I am not one to pay attention to my facebook. I only log on when facebook e-mails me letting me know someone was is trying to contact me. Other than that, maybe I will log on once every 4-6 weeks. But when facebook e-mailed that my buddy was attempting to get in touch with me I jump on. (Confused she just did not pick up the phone and call.) Now, I know why.

I absolutely love the idea and will attend and attempt to honor this request. Especially after this morning when I screamed at my 7yo to stop yelling! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
I believe I should practice what I preach.

Read below and think about joining us. Also if you agree spread the word. emoticon

I have an idea... for a day of peace. Wouldn't it be amazing?
Just one day in the year where we all held our tongues.
A day where we ignored others' shortcomings and made a valiant effort to be kind and understanding.
...A day where we all got along. It's sad that we are all at a point where we should do this, but it's even sadder to know that we easily could every day, but refuse to do so.

My proposition is simple:
One day, March 4th, we all stick to three simple rules that will make the world a little bit more bearable. Feel free to partake in this before and long after then; the only reason I have the event set that far into the future is because I want word to spread and allow this to have as big of an impact as possible.
This event is to take place everywhere we go in the world, preferably all the time.
----------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
Rule #1.
Say not a single unkind thing about anyone or anything. If at all possible, try not to even think a nasty thought. If we do, reflect on why it was that we thought to say it in the first place.
----------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
Rule #2.
Show everyone we cross paths with some genuine human compassion. Be it with a smile or kind words, just spread some love.
----------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
Rule #3.
Make not one person the exception to the rule. Not everyone deserves to have roses thrown at their feet and have a holiday in their honor, but nobody deserves to feel alone. Reach out. Talk to someone new. Care about them, and we will be cared for in return.
----------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
Please invite everyone on your friends list. Every single person, regardless of how often you talk to them, if ever at all. This can be done very simply and quickly by pasting this into your address bar and hitting enter. This will select all of your friends and you can then choose to send the invitation:

There seems to be some confusion about this, so....
PLEASE ADD A PERSONAL MESSAGE TO THE INVITE TELLING THE PEOPLE TO CLICK ON THE EVENT TO SEE THE INFO.
Seriously, make sure you do that, because most of the "Not Attending" people didn't know to click on this and just dismissed it.
----------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
Please spread this as much as possible, and please actually attempt to do this.
I know many of us will simply accept the invite with no intention to give this any genuine effort, but "Attend" anyway, not to look like a good person, but to look like we aren't a bad one. And for those of us who do that, please just remove yourself from the event.
This can be big. If we all band together, well, maybe we can all start living a little bit nicer lives. Maybe this won't work for more than one day; maybe it will. I honestly don't know what will happen, but what I do know is this: if we can get at least one day of happiness and peace out of this, well, I'd more than consider that a success.
This is not intended to be a "Let's be nice for one day and go back to our old ways the day after" kind of thing. It is meant to give us all a little more incentive to be better people.
This is not a hippie or a religious movement. This is just an attempt at brighten the world up a bit.

You have no reason why you can’t do it. None of us do.
Thank you all for your kind words, support, and enthusiasm,
~Stephen Shoemaker

Please help this message spread to as many as possible.
