My parent's A-day....

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

My parent's A-day is today emoticon. They would have been married 52years. But as I mentioned in my last blog my dad pass away two years ago. My mom has dementia so I really don't think it will be an issue. As for me I was longing to go to the gym for two reasons, first I now expect it actually crave it, and I was looking forward not having to think about this day. I feel sad and upset enough lately. I don't want to fall into a depression state of mind. Between cabin fever which also leading indirectly to being unable to go to the gym and the recent sudden death of a friend and now the double dose of thinking of my parents memory. Seriously, how much more before I eat myself into a stupor?
The upside I did invite some friends and their daughters to visit this afternoon for some playtime for the girls and a chat session for the moms. I hope I am more cheery this afternoon. I want this to be an enjoyable time for us all. Wish me luck!

Been there done that got the shirt. Fine a good bag and box the crap out of it. Take out your frustrations on it and use up a lot a calories while you're at it. And cry if you want. No one will know if you're crying or just working out hard.

My mom died 5 months before their 50th and my dad had Alzheimer's. He didn't even realize she was gone. I ate on 150 pounds after she died and now I am punching bags trying to lose it...after he died. We will get the job done.

I am so sorry for the complete feeling of loss that you are going through. The emptiness must be overwhelming for you!

Just remember that you are in my thoughts and I am thinking of you. Believe it not, even during the day when I am not sparking, I think of my buddies here and feel accountable to each and everyone of you.

Do take care and having a playdate might help you. I wish that I could reach over to you and give you a hug and just be there for you.

So, instead, I am here. My heart goes out to and I do hope that you feel that I care.

Have a blessed day surrounded by those who love you, need you and whether you realize it or not, feel for you.

Hugs

I'm glad you're having friends over. I think it will be good for you! Workouts are good, too, to get over that down feeling. If you can't get to the gym, pop in a dvd and go for it!

How is that new Wii Zumba, by the way? Do you have it yet? I'm curious about whether I should try something like that! Let me know!

I hope you have a great day, Anne! I'm going out for lunch with a friend, too. Let's make it a great one for both of us!!

Thanks for sharing such a personal experience. I can relate to not wanting to think about the day, and it's good that you crave going to the gym--a very good outlet for your emotions. I'm glad that you will have company to make the day go by faster. Best wishes to you. You're in my prayers Anne. Take care. You're an amazing woman.

Hey Anne- Hang in there!!! Remember the good times and don't let it ruin your afternoon playdates!!!!! The snow and cabin fever get the best of us! My mom passed away when I was 15-it has been 20 years and I still remember and have certain bad days too! Try to flush out the bad times with all the great memories! Have a great day! emoticon

My mom died after my parents had been married 63 years. It was 4 years ago but some days are still days of remembrance...not always easy but, like you, I find a way to get through them. My dad is 90 and has dementia. I never know if he will remember why a day is a day to remember mom and be down, or if he will just treat it as any other day.

I do know that exercise in the morning on any day starts my day off better with less of the down feeling.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my mom ten years ago on Jan. 14--she was only 55. Valentine's Day will be seven years since I lost my brother--he was only 23. He was more like a son to me. My heart goes out to you. I am here for you if you need to talk, I'm just an email away. Take care and know you're in my prayers.

Sorry to hear about your father. Yesterday was my sister's 43rd birthday and my dad ended up in hospital. He is 70. He has been battling colon cancer and we are waiting for news hoping it's not a relapse. I'm sure your father was a very special man and you loved him very much. He will live on through your memories of him. Thank you for the star!!!

I'm sure you miss him very much. My parents are both 75 and I do feel very fortunate to have them. My mother is battling cancer but she is a very strong positive person and I believe she will beat it.

I signed up for a 8 week class

Saturday, January 15, 2011

I signed up for a 8 week class...Belly Dancing.

My first class was last night. I thought about taking this class since September. I was too late the first 8 weeks and lost the nerve the second 8 weeks. The instructor e-mailed that class was starting up for the next 8 session on January 14th. I never e-mailed back. Then my birthday rolled around this past Tuesday and I went to my usual Zumba class. I love Zumba class. I took a chance this past summer taking this dance class and I just simple cannot see it boring me ever. There are times when the instructor will do to many (in my opinion) of the less fast pace routines and I feel I don't burn as much calories. It does not matter I leave there feeling terrific! Sure sometimes less calories burned but still just so alive! I always loved to dance.

When I was younger I joined a dance studio at 6yo until 15yo. I went to school dances starting at 10 never miss one including both my proms 8th grade and Senior in HS. I audition for school plays to be part of the dance team. I audition for dance class to replace the normal gym class in HS. And yes, I made all the audition so I pretty good at it too. I started clubbing since I was 15, the clubs would allow you in even under 18yo but you had to be 18 to get a wrist band alerting the bartender that you could order alcohol beverages. Fine with me I was there to dance anyhow! Yeah, back in the days when you only had to be 18, then 19 now 21 to drink alcohol. MY college's day well, I went dancing Wednesday, Friday & Saturday almost every week. I was even ask at several clubs by the manager if I wanted to be a dance motivator (like a party motivator at Weddings). I always said no, I did not want something I love to feel like work.

So, I took the chance last night and took a belly dancing class. I really enjoyed it. According to SP I burned over 300 calories! Pretty cool for something I enjoy immensely. I was just slightly hesitant to continue for the next 7 weeks. Then I read a fellow sparkers blog. It was about being honest with yourself on what you are good at doing. And more than once I read articles about the best exercises are the ones you look forward too. Well, that was all the push I needed. I will be back next Friday at 6pm with my check book!

Hey, I took chances on Zumba, Spinning, and my kickboxing and I never looked back. I love these classes. Here I thought only Yoga would give me a warm feeling of home away from home when I am at the gym. And now look I found 3 more loves...who knows may "Belly dancing" will be number 5?

Somehow I missed this blog entry before. Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun and a totally different way to get exercise. Keeping things fun is the key to sticking with it. For someone with your dance background this sounds like the perfect addition to your life.

Sounds like a lot of fun! I'm sure you'll be great @ it. You are a true motivator to me. I've always wanted to try Zumba but I live in a rural area and the closest class is in a city about an hour away from where I live. You've inspired me to get back into Curves.

It's great you've found so many activities that you enjoy! As they say, the exercise(s) you stick with, are the ones that you enjoy, and don't even feel are exercises! Let us know how the belly dancing goes - I've been curious about it, but have never tried it.

My birthday...1/11/11

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

First I would like to thank all my spark buddies for visiting my sparkpage today. I am grateful for all the good wishes.

Today, was a good day for me, first I started with my normal routine getting my children feed and ready for school. Next, off to the gym for 60 minute Zumba class and 15 minutes on the elliptical. I spent the afternoon with my dear friend (been best buds since HS)who recently move back to NY from GA after 14years. My daughter and her mom & aunt were there as well. A delicious lunch followed my a surprise B-day cake. My husband took me and our children, Logan and Sylvia out to dinner in one of our favorite Italian restaurants, unfortunately baby girl had a real bad ear ache. She was a trooper did not want mommy's b-day ruin so she tried her best to hold out until after dinner. Well, it did not happen barely done with our salads, when I ask my husband to explain to the waiter and get the food to go. My son was so immerse in his reading that he did not even know what happen. So, cute he said "What do you mean we are leaving? I did not even have my dinner yet!" My husband, Michael and I just stared at him...Are you kidding you have not notice your sister crying about 3 minutes after we sat down and progressively got worst and louder?....Logan responds Oh. We got home broke out the paper plates and ate our dinner. We gave Sylvia some ibuprofen and she is fine now. All in all everything turned out fine.

Schools are close tomorrow and hubby staying home as well. I think I will get up later then usual and have some family time. I just hope baby girl ear ache does not get worst at least not until Thursday when the roads will be cleared.

Its my birthday! Its my birthday! Its my birthday! Its my birthday! emoticon

Hope your daughter is doing better, sorry it had to happen on your birthday
Isn't it great when you get to a point in your life that when it is time for ways to celebrate your birthday you try to find something active to do, as well as spending it with the people you love most in the world.
Glad you had a great day, now let's make it a great year!

Ear ache is so painful - can't get away from it - just like tooth ache. I think they are perhaps the worst pains to handle.

Big hugs
Glad that you enjoyed your birthday with GF etc

At least you will have some family time since everyone will be home for the day. This year must be a record of all the snow that you are getting there.

Glad to know that you are in a routine for the working out.
