I signed up for a 8 week class...Belly Dancing.
My first class was last night. I thought about taking this class since September. I was too late the first 8 weeks and lost the nerve the second 8 weeks. The instructor e-mailed that class was starting up for the next 8 session on January 14th. I never e-mailed back. Then my birthday rolled around this past Tuesday and I went to my usual Zumba class. I love Zumba class. I took a chance this past summer taking this dance class and I just simple cannot see it boring me ever. There are times when the instructor will do to many (in my opinion) of the less fast pace routines and I feel I don't burn as much calories. It does not matter I leave there feeling terrific! Sure sometimes less calories burned but still just so alive! I always loved to dance.
When I was younger I joined a dance studio at 6yo until 15yo. I went to school dances starting at 10 never miss one including both my proms 8th grade and Senior in HS. I audition for school plays to be part of the dance team. I audition for dance class to replace the normal gym class in HS. And yes, I made all the audition so I pretty good at it too. I started clubbing since I was 15, the clubs would allow you in even under 18yo but you had to be 18 to get a wrist band alerting the bartender that you could order alcohol beverages. Fine with me I was there to dance anyhow! Yeah, back in the days when you only had to be 18, then 19 now 21 to drink alcohol. MY college's day well, I went dancing Wednesday, Friday & Saturday almost every week. I was even ask at several clubs by the manager if I wanted to be a dance motivator (like a party motivator at Weddings). I always said no, I did not want something I love to feel like work.
So, I took the chance last night and took a belly dancing class. I really enjoyed it. According to SP I burned over 300 calories! Pretty cool for something I enjoy immensely. I was just slightly hesitant to continue for the next 7 weeks. Then I read a fellow sparkers blog. It was about being honest with yourself on what you are good at doing. And more than once I read articles about the best exercises are the ones you look forward too. Well, that was all the push I needed. I will be back next Friday at 6pm with my check book!
Hey, I took chances on Zumba, Spinning, and my kickboxing and I never looked back. I love these classes. Here I thought only Yoga would give me a warm feeling of home away from home when I am at the gym. And now look I found 3 more loves...who knows may "Belly dancing" will be number 5?
