No Longer Complacent ;)

I have been absent from SP for some time. I had become complacent because I was maintaining and not making any progress. I thought after loosing 120 lbs i could just drift along. Which I did for awhile... Then of course Halloween emoticon happened and emoticon get the picture. By the time New Year's emoticon rolled around I had gained a good 11 pounds and my motivation was out the window. I tried a couple of times this month to get started but I always let food win. emoticon

Jan 14th emoticon I took a big step, enrolled in the "Just 10" program at work. It is a program that over 10 weeks is designed to drop 10% of your body weight. I think it should be subtitled the "get real program". We have a personal coach/trainer that we meet weekly with. During these sessions, the program is revealed, followed by exercise. I must say I thought I was active but guess what, NOT EVEN CLOSE! I'm not discouraged, I can only get better. I also have to deal with past surgery/injuries so some modification is in order. Planks are hard to do with my right foot after my surgery and squats hurt my knees. emoticon Homework consists of walking 30 minutes a day, every day and strength exercises are emailed to us.

Wah,wah for me, right? You are thinking get over it Anne. Yep, I am. I am already 5 lbs down since starting. I also think shaking things up with eating and exercise has jumped started my body. I feel like my motivation is back. emoticon I look forward to moving toward my goals and looking good for my daughter's wedding in June. emoticon

One other thing, I gave my coach my password so she can monitor me. emoticon so no trainer bashing here!!! Hi Randi!!!! emoticon emoticon

    Hey, that's actually sounds like fun - to have a personal trainer who keeps you on track!! Glad you jumped in and found something to kick your butt in gear again! It's Fri and I'm still tracking!

Today is Fri, TGIF and fast food Fri. Guess what, I'm still tracking. Hard to believe. I stopped tracking before when it got too overwhelming but right now, I'm still doing this. Went over with my calories last night but I was under for a couple of days and still lost on the old scale. Disclaimer: I had gone up with my weight and I didn't change my ticker. I don't usually change it unless I lose or go way beyond my range. Call me a ticker cheet. Anyway, I'm ready to make progress so I can move my ticker the right direction. Got to go, have a great weekend Sparkers!

Keep up the great work (I'm sure it's hard with fast food fri - good for you for figuring out a way to make it work with your plan!)

    So glad to are sticking to tracking.
Have you thought about using a journal too ? I find it so helpful and I can access it any where I need to ..
It helps that I can write down how I am feeling and what exercise I have done... also all the nutrition I have eaten ..
I also track sodium because that it the unseen killer .. too much sodium can retain water .. and shows that although we know we have eaten well and healthy the scales tell a different story, mainly because excess salt in our food retains water ..

    It's all good!

Great job on the tracking. A little over some days, a little under some days, it all averages out. Great job! For me, it is just part of the journey, part of what I have to do in order to reach my goals. Maybe some day I won't have to, but for now, this is what I have to do for my overall health - keeping track of what I deposit in my body just like keeping track of bank deposits is so important to financial health.

    I don't think you are a ticker cheat. I do the same thing unless it is a big amount and long term (like the 8 pounds i gained last Christmas. I have SP friends who lose a pound every other week and get the congratulations but their overall weight stay in the same place for months. A pound or two is natuaral fluctuations so if I lose a pound on a weigh in day, I change it. otherwise I just don't sweat it. Great going on tracking! emoticon

Hi everyone!

Yep, I took the summer off and basically found out I could do maintenance if I wanted to. I also found out that's OK but I'm not done yet. I still have another 50 pounds to lose. The kid's went back to school and it's time to get REAL. I need to track, track, track. It's the only way that I can make any progress. Sooo...on Mon I go back on plan and get a little militent.

Good-bye french fries, good-bye pizza for awhile. They will be worked back into plan when I am a little more controlled. Right now, I eat the appropriate things for the most part but I know I'm out of my calorie range.

Also my XBOX has been on the fritz. I got a new one but I have to download my fruit ninja so I don't lose it. So I haven't got it hooked up yet. It is on my list of things to do this weekend.

I hope everyone had a great summer!

    I am in the same place as you (as usual). My kids start school Monday, and then it's back to being focused for me! Summer is tough to do it all, at least it was for me. I've let my indulgences in a little too far as well, and feel the same way you do - it's fine when you're maintaining but not if you haven't met your goals yet. So I am back to it too!

Hi all you sparkers out there! Yep, I'm finally writing a blog. I've been sparking from a distance and thought it was time to throw my 2 cents into cyberspace once again!

You may remember that I switched to full time back in March and my free time has kind of fluttered away. My job is ever changing and I am still getting oriented to the inner workings of being an RN in a administrative position for a home health company. Lots of challenges since my position is constantly evolving with lots of responsibility! I really like the environment and there is a huge emphasis on a healthy lifestyle. Be that as it may, there is still a lot of munching going on! Sometimes it is hard when it is stressful and people are eating audibly at there desks. I am the queen of healthy snacks but I also participate in fast food Fri. It's easy to eat healthy because the girls go to 3 different places and I can pick and choose healthy items. I really like Wendy's sweet potatoes and McD's fruit and yogurt parfait.

Exercise has become a little bit of a chore but a must do. I still love dancing and I am becoming more agile with my foot all the way healed from surgery in Dec. I have been working on getting higher scores on my Kinect Dance Central 2 and almost all of last nights efforts were my highest scores. Yay! Been walking the dog for an ave of 3 miles at a time and he loves the outings. We got him a gentle leader walking harness that works like a horse bridle and it all but eliminates the pulling he does. It really makes walking with him a pleasure, I don't feel like my arm is being pulled out of it's socket.

So with the new job, I am dealing with the computer at work and I find the reading glasses are just not cutting it. I tried progressives before but I picked glasses that were heavy with too narrow of a field. Needless to say, with headaches and frustration, I went back to reading glasses. So go forward 2 years and I am having a heck of a time seeing what I need to see.Those with young eyes need to understand, I can see distances but close up I have problems and that includes computer screens. So I went and got glasses and today is the first day. I have to be patient and turn my head to focus on things because there are sweet spots in the lenses where you can see better. Gone are my 10 pairs of reading glasses that I would match my outfits with. I have to wear my glasses for a week and hopefully get used to them. Included is a picture at the vision center of me trying on glasses. This is not my final choice but similar. I had to go with a lighter weight frame to avoid the headaches.

    I read your blog & will check out your our 'stage of development' our bodies are evolving-I have progressive lenses & while they take some getting used to, I really do prefer them over reading glasses now...thanks for updating.... emoticon

Your job sounds so interesting and such a great idea to be helping people at home ...
I also have a harness for my Bobby.. he pulls so hard ... he is a little dog but so strong emoticonThis is him right down to the red collar....

He is the love of my life apart from hubby and family of course ..

Glad you are making great choices in the eateries... there is always some we can eat and feel so good about ...

One-derland is possible and beyond!!

Hello Spark friends,

I finally did it! I broke 200! After months of a see-saw up and down I have broken my plateau with a vengeance! What did I do?? I didn't starve myself that's for sure. I ate within my calorie range and exercised.The exercise I did was 60 minutes a day for 6-7 days. No momentous changes except that I kept my calcium intake within range. Strangely, that is my secret to success.

This week is also the end of Dr. Oz's transformation nation. It started in Sept with a weigh-in at Weight Watchers and ends with an additional weigh-in this week. I have lost 30 lbs since this started even with my injury and surgery to my right foot. I have seen more plateau's during this period but persistence is definitely key!!! I think the participation just gave me another element of motivation. Hopefully the Weight watchers scale will reflect the same number mine does, if not c'est la vie.

I need to update my picture to reflect the loss, bear with me. Happy April Fool's Day!
