A Walk in the Snow

Saturday, December 05, 2009

Yesterday afternoon, for the 2nd time in a year, S'East TX. got snow! It snowed for several hours and the snow was gorgeous! Now I know that might not impress those of you who see snow a lot & every year.

We live on a county road & I decided to do a "first" for me! I walked 2 miles on our road while the snow was falling. Oh, my, what fun! I sang, caught snowflakes on my tongue, waved at people in cars/trucks as they passed me (some of them looked at me like I was nuts even tho most had probably seen me walking on other days), looked at the snow on trees & fields as it accumulated. I had a blast!!!

Then after I got home, while I was still wet & bundled up, hubby & I slowly walked thru our back field & woods--again while it was still snowing! That was fun too!!!

I got out early this morning with my camera to take pictures of the snow on things. Hopefully some of them will come out well!

Enjoy your day & if you got snow for the first time yesterday afternoon, I hope you enjoyed yourself as well!!!

I enjoyed your snow story. Isn't it a great feeling to have fun while exercising? And, oh, the benefits!

What a wonderful tale. I can appreciate your experience - it doesn't snow where I live, either. I enjoyed reading your account of walking in the snow!

The first snow is always so beautiful...especially if you don't get it very often!!

What a fun thing to do. They say you actually burn more calories walking in the snow than in nicer weather.

Happy 4th of July!

Friday, July 03, 2009

I'm back home & packing for our trip to Nachitoches, LA., & my Dad's. Each year we spend the Saturday & Sunday nights that are either before the 4th or are the 4th in Nachitoches at the Starlight Plantation B&B. It's outside of town on the Cane River, rustic & quiet, & we love it!!!
Then we go up to see my Dad for a few days.

I'll probably be out of touch for several days. Everyone have a great, happy, & safe 4th!!! Let's Sparkle!!!

I finally found a spring/summer multi-colored long whispy skirt this morning + it was on sale for $10.00 + tax!!! I have looked everywhere in Bmt. that I could think of; I finally said something this morning to the hotel sales manager about a shop in Orange, but I couldn't remember the name. She remembered the name & gave me directions so I just decided to go look. This skirt was the ONLY one of its kind in the shop!!! I am sooo excited!!!

I did some other things, but they weren't as exciting! I can't do major exercising & sweat because I can't wash my hair yet. I'm just trying to watch what I eat--a little more than usual.

Must run. Everyone have a Sparkling Day & keep drinking lots of water!

A Good Day So Far!!!

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Went to bed early last night & was up this morning by at little after 6. I walked for a little over 1 mile before doing some other things. About 10:30, I left for Buna, a little town right down the road from us, for a hair appt. I now have my curly hair back; yea!!! We left it a little long, but not much & it really looks cute! I'm now in Beaumont, at the hotel, waiting for hubby to get in from work. I'll be with him until at least Thursday. I'm feeling good & hope all of you are too.

Have a Sparkling rest-of-the-Day!!!

P.S. My hair is curly like in the picture, but a little longer in the back.

Two 1/2 Busy Days!

Monday, June 29, 2009

Saturday started out very well; I got up early enough to walk/jog some before showering & eating breakfast. Three of us who are good friends had already planned to meet at the new house of one of us for lunch & visiting. While eating breakfast, I read in the paper that the father of another close friend had died & visitation was that evening in a town south of us. The close friend in that case is also a good friend with one of the ones I was getting with for lunch; so I called that one to tell her & we agreed we'd go to the visitation together. My hubby also wanted to go because he knew my close friend too.

The three of us who were having lunch together had a ball! Lunch was delicious & the visiting was load of fun. The lady who hosted the lunch has a daughter & son-in-law who live near by so the daughter came over with their 8-month-old son & he was a joy. Cindy & I hadn't seen him before & we had a blast with him. After loads of fun, Cindy & I left for home to rest a little before changing clothes to go to the funeral home.

Hubby & I met her at 6. Our friend was holding up pretty well as was her Mom. The parents had been married for 55 years! We visited with both of them for a few minutes each & with a couple of other people we knew before leaving. Cindy went home & hubby took me out for supper.

Needless to say, by the time we got home, I was very tired!

Yesterday was a good day; busy with Bible class & 2 worship services but didn't do much during the afternoon. I went to bed kind of early so I could get up this morning & exercise outside before it got too hot. I managed to do that & after showering & eating breakfast, I went to my mother-in-law's for coffee. After then doing some things here at the house, I ran some errands in town.
I've still got some things to do here at the house or on the computer. Will not go to Beaumont to be with hubby until tomorrow afternoon after getting a new perm late tomorrow morning!

Everyone stay cool & hydrated!!!
