Life is Good

I haven't done a blog post in a while. Things are going well in all areas of my life. I am maintaining well and am learning new things as time goes by. My last idea was to significantly up my exercise but I learned fairly quickly that when I do that, I eat a lot more. So the end result is not weight loss. I have cut back on exercise this past week and I am eating a lot less. Exercise is good and sometimes it is a lot of fun but I am not keen enough on it to do lots without a payback. I am generally reasonably active so I am going to continue to do 10k walks but not more than one a week. It feels really good to know that I can do it easily.

Christmas at my house is a quiet season. I have my few decorations out and am enjoying them. I sent out the last of the Christmas cards and gifts on Wednesday. Christmas day will be DH and I and possibly my sister. We may go to see our eldest daughter and her family after Christmas but as of now, nothing is scheduled. A few of my regular activities (Bridge and Pickleball) have or will be cancelled because of other participant's holiday commitments but that is the norm.

We are having a lovely warm and sunny day after a week of cooler, wet, and gray days. I am going to try and get a long walk in this afternoon. I have been watching my friend's dog while she went on a cruise and she is picking the dog up this afternoon. I really need to be home when she comes so if she is late I will miss my walk.

    Your lovely and quiet Christmas sounds like fun, but also relaxing. We are traveling for two weeks to our family in the states. Not as relaxing, but a different kind of fun.

Recording my Weight

My weight varies regularly. I usually weigh withing a 2 pound range but can see fluctuations down of as much as 4 and up of as much as 6. I have learned to be comfortable with the constantly moving scale. I used to record my weight here whenever I hit a personal low which recently was 142. I am changing that. I am not going to change my weight here until my highest weight for at least a week is a lower number. So I will stay at my current recorded weight of 143 until I see 142 or lower for at least a week.

Maintenance is going well and I lost 2.2 pounds during the last 8 weeks. I am exercising more than I ever have in the past and will continue that until I lose another 6 pounds. It may take a long time but as long as I don't gain, I will be very happy.

Current Status and Next Goals

I have been back active at SparkPeople since about August 1st and I am down roughly 15 pounds. I am now below my old goal and only a few pounds above my new goal. I have been learning about maintenance and am happy with my progress at this time.

I don't really expect to lose a lot more weight and really do not expect to lose it quickly and that is more than OK. I would like to be at 140 by the end of January and then down to 138 by the end of March. However as long as I do not weight more than 145 I will be very happy.

I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and I am sorry for those who do not celebrate this holiday. It really is a great day. God is good and I thank Him today and everyday for everything. Life is good.

Day 93

Today my weight is 142. This is the lowest adult weight for me EVER. I am thrilled but in a new and better way. I am learning maintenance while I lose my last few pounds before reaching my new goal of 140. I accept that I will always need to track food, exercise regularly, and even accept that the scale with jump around and sometimes that jump will be up instead of down.

I started an 8 week challenge 3-1/2 weeks ago at 145 and have been up and down between that number and 144 for most of that time. I was traveling for a week and did not get enough exercise and food was not the best. But mostly I think it was just a normal "spot" where my body was adjusting to a new, lower weight.

I have now lost 15 pounds in 93 days and that is awesome and actually more than I expected to lose. My goal is 140 but I am going to continue to keep my calories in weight loss area for most days to take off a few more. It would be very cool to end up in the mid to high 130s and if I can do it and then maintain the loss, I will. If not, I will be thrilled to continue to be the size I am now.

This is a big shout out thank you for SP and to all the wonderful folks here. You are the best.

Day 91

Today is day 91 and 3 months went so fast. I am now down nearly 13 pounds. I am currently at 144.2 and my lowest weight a few days ago was 143.8.

I am not losing quickly but I don't even want that. I feel wonderful physically and losing 5-7 pounds will be great but how long it takes is not an issue. What I really want is to learn how to maintain. I am eating a bit less than I would like but not enough less to lose quickly. Where I was losing a pound a week, now I am losing about 2 pounds a month. I am still doing as much exercise as I can without hurting myself or getting over tired.

This is a journey and one that I will take as a normal weight person. I need to lose another pound for my BMI to be in the normal range. And I am making a commitment to be here on SP regularly. I need to be accountable and the folks here are a wonderful inspiration to do that.
