Depressing Plateau :(

I've been stuck between 150-153 for almost 7 weeks now. (There was one week that I managed to hit 149, but it must have been water weight because it came right back.) I've been reading some articles/blogs on this to get some advice. I've changed my diet while maintaining the same calorie range. I've also been switching up my workouts so I run between 3 and 7 miles/4 days a week and 2 days of other types of workouts (rollerblading, hills, biking, etc.). I've even added toning exercises a couple days a week. Anything to keep my body "guessing". I feel like I've changed everything I can, and I've still seen nothing come of it. Nothing. My clothes still fit the same. The scale does not change. The tape measure still reads the same.

I keep telling myself that it will break at one point, but this is getting ridiculous. I just want to be at 140 by the 4th of July, but if this plateau keeps sticking around, I'm not going to be able to reach it at a steady, healthy rate.

This is really starting to depress me.

    I totally understand as I also reported being in a very long plateau. I even consulted a dietician who told me what to do which is what I did and what you have just done. Make sure you are getting plenty of rest as lack of sleep will cause your body to stop losing plus stress of any kind puts your body in a stop. Just don't stop doing what you are doing. No matter how frustrating it will break.

    I am with you mind, body, soul and fire on this one. I have been stuck for the past 12 weeks. I started to see a change this week and then my sleep patterns became interrupted because of two sick (and I mean really sick) dogs. And, voila it seemingly simple weight loss returned with a few brothers.

April Sunshine vs. Rainshowers

I'll admit it... March was a disaster for me. It started off great, but the last two weeks have been a battle. I increase my runs to 4 miles, but everything I ate seemed to stick tight and refused to leave. I did reach my goal in the end. It just took a lot of punishing work and dedication to get there.

So for April, I'm going to stick to my 4 mile runs/3 days a week and do something else besides run 2 days out of the week. (1 of those days I have to work on steep hills to get ready for backpacking, and I suppose the other day will be whatever gets me motivated to move.) Also, I HAVE to start strength training and be serious about it. Not just do it once a week and call it good enough. 8 weeks until swimsuit season, so it's crunch-time. Literally.

However, I am celebrating some milestones for myself. Today marks a 20 lbs loss since last May when I joined SP. More importantly, it also marks a total of 40 lbs lost since my highest weight recorded back in Sept. 2008.

March Outlook

I would say February was a successful month for me. I maintain my goal of running 3 miles 3 times/week and lost a total of 4 pounds.

So for March I'll step my mileage up to 3.5 miles 3 times/week. And because my mom was great enough to give me a stability ball, I plan to do some toning exercises after each run.
