I Haven't Been Around in a year...

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

My update isn't great at all. I'm pretty much starting all over and that really stinks. No matter what I did I couldn't seem to stop gaining weight. Considering that I've been computer-less for over a year now you would think that I would have lost weight. That is definitely not the case. I'm still trying to get healthy but it's a long and very discouraging road ahead of me. The one new thing I am about to try (for at least a month as suggested) is the paleo diet. It will be massively hard because I'll be the first to admit I love grains and dairy. Something has got to give when it comes to my weight though. I lived a pescetarian life for a while last year (thought it was vegetarian, found out it wasn't) but that ended after a lack of protein left me with a 6 month long headache. While my journey is tough and tiring, I really want to keep fighting the good fight. Hope all of you are still on the right path and if not, it's okay, it never too late to get back up and try again.

Lots of love,
Anisa Leah

I'm so glad to see you back on here - welcome back with lots of hugs! Don't beat yourself up - its NOT about how many times you fall, its about making the decision to get back up. I've been on and off Sparkpeople many times since joining in 2010, and I'm sure many other members would say the same. Keep trying, because you will find what works for you, and you will reach your fitness goals.

P.S. - I'm STILL trying to beat some of your scores on Dance Central! Lol I just finished playing a few minutes ago, after slacking on my workouts for the past week.

July Update

Friday, July 26, 2013

I still very much suck at logging my workouts on Spark People. However, I have been doing pretty good workout wise. I started walking and I love it. I walk a out 2 miles when I don get out to walk. On top of the walking, I still dance and now I've added all of these fantastic new iPhone apps to the mix. I have apps that take my heart rate (one of them even tells me where my heart rate needs to be to burn fat), I have workout apps, and fitness tracker apps. I tried to re-download my Spark People app (which used to be free) but they wanted me to pay for it and I guess I'm just not willing when I have free apps like fitness pal and lose it. In any event, I just wanted to check in and tell everyone how I'm doing. I feel so much stronger nowadays and happier. I also had to ditch my scale, I now only weigh myself once a month and do body measurements bi-weekly. I pray that when I do weigh myself that I have a scale victory because I truly have been trying my hardest. Hope all is well with everyone on their journeys! Until next time!

So glad to see you on here again! We missed you! And keep up the great work - walking is an excellent exercise, and great way to mix things up. Do you Zumba? If not, you may want to give it a try when you feel ready. I play at home on my Playstation or Xbox, it always makes me sweat! Please keep us posted on your progress!

I've Been M.I.A.

Monday, May 27, 2013

I have not been on Spark People as often as I used be. I won't even make excuses for it. I will talk about where I am in my journey. Last year I put back on 30 of the 61 pounds I lost. Talk about devastated. Even though I put that weight on, I am still constantly fighting the good fight in my journey to health. I recently went vegetarian when I realized I was having a very hard time a majority of my life digesting meats. I definitely feel better with that change. I lost 2 inches off of my waist one month into that lifestyle. I'm still pretty new at it and trying to find healthy new recipes to follow. I'm trying to get back in the habit of at least tracking my exercise. I have always been terrible with tracking my food because: 1) I have no idea how many calories my self made recipes add up to, 2) Not certain what a serving size of my self made recipes is. I just wanted to check in and let everyone know that I am okay and that I am NOT giving up! June 1st I will be trying my hand at both the 30 day squats challenge and the 30 day push-ups challenge! Wish me luck! I hope all is well with each and every single last one of you. Best wishes to you all and Happy Memorial Day!!

Use the recipe calculator! It figures the calories ect. Get a small kitchen scale and that will help with portions. Figure out the whole casserole or whatever dish and then what seems like a portion to you. Subtract the amount of your serving from the amount of the whole and then you know number of servings. Put that in the recipe calculator and it will do the nutritional data. If you don't have a scale use measuring cups. I know a 9x13 pan is 12 servings, I have a Pyrex bowl that is 8 cups. It is a little time consuming in the beginning and when you have the info you need to continue following the recipe exactly so your info is correct or you need to tweak the recipe each time you change. Home made foods are so much better than the packaged and processed! Keep up the good healthy work and you will reach your goals!

You only fail if you give up, so great job!
Did you ever try the recipe calculator on sparkrecipes? It's kind of time-consuming, but if you have a few favorite recipes you make often, it would be worthwhile to put them in. Then you can keep better tabs on what those meals are like nutritionally.

The New Year is approaching fast!

Sunday, December 04, 2011

I wanted to take the time to reflect on 2011. I have to be honest with myself and say that this wasn't my best year weight loss wise. Once I flunked out of school my motivation for EVERYTHING just went downhill. I really shouldn't complain because I ultimately lost 20 lbs, but in comparison to the 40 lbs I lost last year is seems kind of like a fail to me. I have been trying to get back on task with working out. I just purchase Dance Central 2 and the only thing stopping me from playing this game as much as I want to are the kids that are here this weekend that won't let me play. Monday, I will be back at it so I can meet my goal of losing at least 5 - 10 lbs before the New Year. Its just hard to push yourself sometimes, but I know I have to do it because I love me and I want to be a healthier me. Best wishes to everyone and their fitness goals. I hope 2012 brings even more success for you than 2011 did! Stay amazing! Love you all! emoticon

20 lbs is NOTHING to be ashamed of. The fact that you have lost a total of 60 lbs in the past two years is incredible!! Regardless, your attitude is definitely commendable and I know, if you keep that up, you'll achieve your goals no problem!

You go, girl!
