My son, Nicholas, enjoying watermelon at the baseball game last night. I love this picture of him.
They had a kid's carnival and he got to play games, jump in the bounce house, win an inflatable monkey toy, get a new baseball hat, made a new friend, have some ice cream and a hot dog and watermelon, see lots of home runs, and enjoy the fireworks. For a change, Nicholas was very well behaved, didn't run off (thank goodness, because there we SO many people there last night!!) and made a very pleasant night for us. I got in two extra walks of almost two miles total due to how far away I had to park, but that was OK.
The team our local team played was from Great Britain, supposedly the best talent from their nation. Um.. Well, the Keene SwampBats beat them 33-0. The SwampBats are college baseball students from around the country and they come to the New England Collegiate Baseball League to practice in a wooden bat league. They often get drafted to major leagues the following year. Still, expected the game to be somewhat of a GAME.. a challenge, not a wipe-out! The game ended at the 7th on mercy rule, since it wasn't a standard competition, but an exhibition.
I LOVE fireworks! I took a video of the fireworks. Actually, two - one short one 1.5 minutes and the other is 9 minutes and includes the finale. I'll try to post those later.
