Please Help Sponsor Me for the 5Ks?

Saturday, March 31, 2012

Today I did my first 5K with my dog! It was supposed to be a 2 mile walk, but I didn't see any turn-around and I kept going to the end of the trail where there was a gate before a main road. Across the road were runners and volunteers handing out water to them, so I asked where the walkers were supposed to go and they pointed back where I'd come from. I did miss it. I was already at 1.7 miles on my Cardiotracker app. The whole walk was 3.1 and then another .3 for the walk to and from the parking lot.

I lost my $20 entry fee on the walk from the car. I had to go back to the car after to get another $20 to pay. It cost me $40 to do this race, which was supposed to be a 2 mile walk, but turned out to be a 5K. That leaves me out for food this week. This was for Fast Friends Greyhound Rescue. fastfriendsroadrace.com/

Next week's race is $25 entry (day of race) or $20 if I register by the day before which I will try to do. There is no fee for kids to enter the fun run. www.cheshire-med.com/index.php?optio

So I am asking for sponsors for this. I need to cover the $40 for today and the $20 for next week. If I get more than $60 I will split it and donate at least half of it to Fast Friends. There is likely to be another 5K coming up in May to do somewhere nearby.

If you can, please donate to me via Paypal.com. My email address you can use is
Angelwendymama@gmail.com and my real name is Wendy Chapman if you need that info.

Send me money.. and/or at least send me love. I'm frustrated about today, but I really should be just proud of having done it.

I will definately donate my friend count on me after Tuesday ok? I love your kindness and your willingness to help. I know it must have been a bummer to get sidetracked. You and I are too much alike. I am always getting lost. Hang in there and I know you will get all the money you need and then some. Stay Curvy

I think it is emoticon that you are doing these walks. I think it is a shame that they charge people to do these walks. What happened to the days when people use to get pledges for the distance walked? Does it cost them to host the walk/run?

I am on disability and having a hard time making ends meat. The last week of the month is tough as by then I am out of food stamps and stretching the food in the house and $$$$. I can send you emoticon though. I am so proud of you. I am lucky and received the 6 month scholarship from the Hospital for Special Care for the gym and pool. I walk the park track but that is only 1 mile but free. It also has dirty old men sitting on park benches checking out the "view" emoticon

I hope you and your friend can work things out. Have you considered asking her to provide any food her children would need or pay a reasonable amount for it? It's unreasonable for her to expect free childcare with little advance warning and for you to provide all food and drinks.

Good for you telling her how you felt emoticon Its important to be honest with your friends, if she's a true friend she'll cover you when you need a sitter too (sounds like she needed a reminder of what a friend does).
Good luck with the puppy walk :D
emoticon your day sucked, keep your positive attitude emoticon

I hope your friend comes around and babysits. Good luck on both your walks. I will see if I can help out for next week's walk. And remember the universe is counting all those beautiful actions. Keep on being a good friend but, don't let anyone take advantage of your good heart. Stay Curvy emoticon

My Day - So Far

Friday, March 30, 2012

Late last night my best friend asked me to please watch her two year old daughter during the day and pick up her six year old son from school and watch them til 5-ish. She is having dental surgery today and didn't think she'd be OK to supervise them on medication. I said yes, but I forgot until I was in bed after midnight that I had a doctor's appointment for Nicholas at 10 for vaccinations and a mammogram appointment at 2:45. Pick up for her little boy is at 3. I eventually got my mammogram rescheduled a bit earlier so I'll be able to get him on time.

I managed to take my son (age 5) and her daughter (almost 3 yrs old) for a walk. I did my full walk. It took longer than usual because the little one can't go as fast as I do and doesn't catch up as fast. I also gave them playtime at the cul de sac. But.. I did manage to exercise and get my mile walk in with the dog. Yesterday I did not do any exercise. The weather was too yucky for walking in my opinion and then I fell asleep right after dinner in the evening.

I mean to make up for it today and do a dance party of at least 30 minutes with a goal of 1 hr today or tonight. I'm pretty tired right now, but this is my tired time of the day so it might get better. Time to head out for my mammogram.. my very first one. Scared!!! But I took some ibuprofen in case it hurts. I promise not to pull a hissy fit like my son did when it was time for his shot. I'll keep it inside and come tell you guys how much it hurt or didn't.

--
Update - Back now. Yeah, it hurt. But it wasn't intolerable and it didn't take long for each squish (two per boobie). I am glad I took ibuprofen first. The (thankfully female) nurse/radiology tech. was very nice with a very kind bedside manner, which helped a lot. Glad it's done.

Good for you in doing that mammogram and for not canceling your appt. Your a good friend. I am a breast cancer survivor and always advise women to get mammograms no matter their age. I got breast cancer when I was 38. So emoticon And props girl for doing the walk with the extra kids. You did not let anything stop you. Clothing Exchange?

Thursday, March 29, 2012

We all need smaller clothing as we get smaller in size. Do we have a SparkTeam for clothing exchange where you just donate clothing for the cost of shipping to another Spark member? I think I want to start one if there isn't. I found a group called Clothing Exchange or donation, but it wasn't about sharing with each other, just about donating them elsewhere.

I need 2X ladies' bottoms and 1X or XL tops. I prefer all natural fabrics. I prefer V neck or sweetheart neckline, 3/4 length sleeves, and I like cotton jersey. I take XL in unisex size now.

I need 2X bottoms for the spring/summer and 1X bottoms for fall/winter.
I'll need an XL or L jacket.

To give away - I have 3X and 4X bottoms and 2X-3X tops and a couple 3X winter coats and 2X and 3X fall/spring coats. I have a lot of 26 and 28 pants. I also have 2x and 3x maternity pants.

I wonder if SP would let us do that? Ask one of the Coaches about it, babe. If you want I would help you run a group for something like that for sure! Sounds awesome. Great idea :)
