Ok so today I am a little older, a little wiser and thanks to a lot of website research a little less stressed than this time last year. I just read an article on yahoo that said if I keep my good, bad and ugly about my weight loss journey as this is out in the public I may succeed more than those that keep it secret.

So here it goes.
I plan to blog at least 2 times a week to let the world know how I am feeling, what I am eating, how much I am exercising, what exercises I like or don't like, and so much more.
I plan to post the joys of loosing weight and how I did it and I will also post how I feel when I gain weight as I know enevitably I will.

I hope to have others follow me and do the same and hope we can compare notes, help each other feel better about the low points in our weight loss journey and congratulate each other on good jobs done.

I plan to make small goals that are both pound related and non pound related.

I hope all my spark friends will join me on this and in a way maybe make our own challenge out of this.

I hope I can get more emails and blog comments from friends and other sparkers as well.

If your looking for a buddy know that I am here looking for one too.

My journey is beggining here in Alaska with a starting weight of 276 pounds. I just got back from a cruise in Miami that went to St. Thomas, St. Marteen, and Nassau.

I will be starting this journey with the use of weight watchers thanks to my friends at www.cafemom.com

    I read KIYOSHI04's suggestion on a previous blog that you posted -- that there is no "right way" to lose weight.

I would so-o-o agree with that. Each of us needs to find what works for us. For some, it's Weight Watchers, Isagneix, South Beach Diet, whatever.

For others, it's exercise.

For me, it was a combination of lots of ideas and programs that I read about. And, taking what I liked about each of those, and, throwing out what I didn't like. I didn't follow any one program exactly. I used others' good ideas, and created my own personal program, based on my lifestyle and my preferences, and, what I WAS willing to do, and, what I was NOT willing to do.

Create your own program. Experiment. Don't be afraid to make adjustments as you move along.

And, aim for PROGRESS, not PERFECTION. Don't give up when you have a bad day. Look at what you've done in the past that has been successful (even if it wasn't successful today), and,

At a loss, what do I do???

I have tried isagenix, I have done tons of diets in the past. But how do I really loose weight. At the end of the day everything hurts and my feet and ankles are swollen. I just don't seem to know the right way to get this damn weight off. I am frustrated and upset and at a loss. What do I do?????

    there is no "right way" to lose weight.
you have to figure out what works for you--what you can live with.
for some people that looks like completely changing the way they eat and adding in exercise. for others, it might look like exercising like mad but not changing the way they eat. for others, it might be a different combination.
for me, it looks like: tracking every single thing that goes in my mouth and working out.
and never thinking of this as a temporary fix. i try to live how i want to live at my goal weight.

i began at 284 pounds..... i am 156 yesterday.
it can be done. it is just a matter of finding what works for you.

    Although I'm not sure that you are in a plateau, a lot of the tips that I've given in my "Stickie" on the Plateau Busters thread ( http://www.sparkpeople.com/my

=11578 ) would work just for getting you started at losing weight.

Don't feel like you need to do everything, or to do everything at once. Over the months, I've added one or two new things to my strategy as I become comfortable with other things, and, I am, now, doing many of them on the list.

I'm not much for exercising, so that's one of my suggestions that I don't do much with.

    Turn on sparks and follow the structure of their meals.. You don't have to use their suggestions but get each food group in recommended to each meal in a form from the same food family you do like...

I never used to be a big planner at 306lbs but when I found out I could have success coping suggestions and changing stuff I didn't like life got more interesting..

I also hurt all over my body and have a spinal injury that doesn't tolerate excess weight anymore.. I am now off pain pills..

Hang in there and don't give up..

Day two of Baby boot camp

So today is day two and I woke up to know internet. Uggh how was I supposed to know how many calories are in my fruits and veggies without my spark people. But now it is up and running after calling the phone company and they sent out a repair man. wooo hooo I am back on line.
My excitment this morning was to get online and post my weight from this morning as I do with Isagenix full body cleansing I like to weight in every morning, then go do a workout drink my shake and get in the shower then check on line before starting work for the day.

Ready....
I stepped on the scale this morning and it said.......

268 I could not believe it so I stepped on again and it said

I think my eyes were playing tricks on me at first but hey I am down 4 pounds in just one day. That is great to me. I know spring if finally starting to bud its head so I did quite a bit of raking and measured the backyard playground yesterday and ran after a lot of kids as I run a home daycare. I even kicked around a soccer ball with my own 2 and 7 year old yesterday and threw the football with my 7 year old and took a 15 min walk to the mail box with my 2 year old and pushed my 2 year old and another 2 year old on the swings in the back yard. So I was quite active and was up from 7 am to 11 pm. Plus I am on my feet all day. Though I know I need to get to bed earlier tonight cause I was tired today at naptime. So right now I am drinking my want more energy.

I must say that I am also loving my new blender water bottle combo that I picked up from walmart last week. It is Oyster brand blend and go or some name like tht cause it does not say on it what the name is. So I can blend my shake and take it with me where ever I need to go. I love it.

I am loving the weight loss and it is very motivating to see something esspecially that much come off so quickly. I know it won't keep comming off so fast but I will be happy as long as I get 2 pounds a week or more.

Day one of Baby Boot Camp

So hubby and I decided we want to have as many more babies as possible before I can't anymore due to age. Hubby said he definetly wants a baby boy as we have a baby girl already together and I have a son already but my son is not ours together.
Hubby is worried about not having a son to carry on his families name.
I have always wanted a large family, the bigger the better for me. I already run a 24/7 home daycare so lots of kids is easy for me. We decided that we just both need to loose a little weight. I need to loose at least 50 pounds and hubby has 20 more to go. So today I started on Isagenix again and I feel great. I actully feel lighter already. I weighted in this morning at 283 pounds and I am only 5 foot 6 inches.

    I am so glad to hear that you are starting back on Isagenix.

Your decision to have another baby is a great one. People like you who are so great with kids should be having them and nurturing them. You will help to make the world a better place .

Don't know anymore

I just don't know anymore. I thought I was loosing weight but turned out I gained 20 pounds instead. I thought I was eating healthy foods but I guess not healthy enough to get the weight off. So now I am 5 ft 6 and 282 pounds. This sucks. My heaviest ever was 289 and that was on the day of delivery of my son and 286 when I delivered my daughter 5 years later. I hate this but just don't know what to do anymore.
True I have lost weight here and there with Isagenix and slim fast, and low carb dieting, and weight watchers just to name a few but within a few months it all comes back and lately it has been whatever I do loose during the month all comes back during my period and I have to start all over cause it is not just bloat weight.
What am I supposed to do?
I am at a point now where I don't even have an appetite at all, I don't want to eat anything out of fear that I will just gain more weight.

    ok, this is an older post, but you should still get a message that someone posted on it.

Step 1 - take a deep breath, hold for 2 seconds, release. Do this a few times - no benefit other then calming

I am 4 foot 9, so am totally envious of your 5 foot 6 by the way

But so 4 foot 9, and at my heaviest I was 240 something.

I started the journey to health in 2006 - and lost 30 odd pounds, was thrilled - but I did not do it thru a sustainable method. I joined LA Weight loss, and while the short term result was great - it ultimately was not sustainable and the weight went back on.

So after various ups & downs, more ups then down I was right back where I started from but a lot more knowledgable. And summer of 2010 I got serious.

I had a checkup the other day and my doctor's receptionist was commenting on my weght loss and asked how I did it. And ultimately I said it was because I am finally eating healthy meals that I want to eat for the rest of my life, and I work out a couple of times a week (not right now as recovering from surgery)

From summer 2010 to Feb 28, 2011 I went from 240 something to 222 pounds. March 1 I got super serious - there was an 8 week contest - I didn't win but I managed to take off almost 20 pounds. But my eating for that 8 weeks wasn't really sustainable as I really restricted everything.

But even with relaxing a bit, I am still losing and am now just shy of being 190 pounds. And yes even while I can't work out I am losing, even if that is much slower

We eat a lot of turkey breast and chicken breast. Once in a while we change it up with beef or pork. I have a small kitchen scale and while I will eyeball sometimes now, I weighed everything at the start.

I knew how much I was planning on so I would log a days worth at a time

Lots of veggies are eaten

If we eat mashed potatoes - I add in a white turnip or two, and even carrots - ok so it makes the potatoes a different color - but the taste is excellent and gets more veggies and less carbs into my eating.

Th important thing is - it is all sustainable - no herbs, pills, diuretics required. No prepared meals from Jenny Craig, no fasting or shakes. And it is cheaper as no special things are required

    i was 5'2 and 284 pounds at my heaviest. i am now 155 pounds.
sure didnt happen overnight but i have to tell you. 282 is manageable. hard, yes. but manageable!! take control of it before it is too late, too overwhelming. before you cant.
start simple. get in the water. get a notebook and track down every single thing that goes in your mouth. and begin working out.
if it is too much, focus on one thing at one time.
i didnt do any sort of diet...just wrote down the calories of everything that i ate and added it up myself. [spark has their tracker, too, but it didnt work for me.]
i dont even really work out. i just keep my feet moving. i just walk in place. i walk in place while i am doing the dishes or loading the dishwasher or making the beds. my feet are moving when i am making dinner, doing laundry, brushing my teeth. you would be surprised how much it does help. i know it doesnt sound like it would but ive lost 129 pounds.

also, does the weight come back during your period or are you eating more and therefore gain it back? my friend literally gains--her eating is fine--but she gains and then has to re-lose 2/3 pounds.
but all of those pounds are something. even if you lose 5lbs before you gain 3 back because of your period, you will will have lost 2 pounds. 2 pounds is something.

  I totally understand where you are coming from. December 2009, I saw my sister who is just a bit larger than me, try to get out of a chair. (I am 5'2" and was 235, size 22) She struggled for about 30 seconds and then waddled to my back door, leaving a trail of popcorn that she had just eaten at a restaurant before coming to visit. I looked at my husband and told him, "that can never be me". January 2010 I embarked on my journey and am now wearing size 12 and am 168 pounds. My doctor wants another 20 to 30 pounds. You need to eat and be conscious of what you eat. It is extremely important to log everything you eat. You need to make time for yourself to do it; you are important and are allowed to take time from your family to help yourself (and them). I started exercising with DVD's at home (still do) and started with the biggest loser ones because they were the easiest for me. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

    Okay, first off... not eating WILL make you gain weight. Your body will think it's starving and keep everything.

Sounds to me like the different things you've tried may have messed a bit with your metabolism. Slim Fast, Isagenix... anything like that works for a short time, but nothing that isn't sustainable will ever work forever. Could you REALLY drink those shakes twice a day, every day for the rest of your life? I know I couldn't.

The good news is, there IS a fix. But I have a question - I looked at your food trackers from last year. Were you not tracking everything, or is that all you're eating? If the first, then you need to start tracking EVERYTHING. If it's the latter, you need to start eating.

If you've filled out your profile and everything, you'll have calorie and nutrient suggestions. Try following them. And do it for several weeks. It might take some time for your body to realize you're doing good things to it and start to let go.

Also, are you exercising? Even the smallest things - 10 minute walks here and there to start - will help.

You can do this, by following smart, healthy eating.

    I understand your frustration, but you have to keep up with it. Ive tried the slimfast thing, and yes it works, until you stop their program. Those drinks are filled with nothing but sugar. Make sure you are using your SP tools. The calorie tracker is a god-sent. If you ever need to just vent feel free to send me a msg or something. We are all here for basically the same reasons, and can relate to one another. Keep your head held high and believe that you CAN do what you put your mind to! *hugs*
