TREADMILL MIND CONTROL...

Saturday, May 11, 2013

So when we cashed in our gym memberships and bought a treadmill I insisted it was plunked in the middle of our lounge so that I couldn't blob in front of the TV without seeing the treadmill as a constant reminder to exercise. But there has been an unexpected side effect...

Not only can I not blob in front of the TV without feeling guilty if I haven't exercised...

I can't eat crap food in front of the treadmill either without the voice in my head (I think it's the voice of the treadmill!) saying - "Wow how many calories are in that? I wonder how long it will take for you to you to work that off?"

So not only am I exercising more, I'm eating less... Who knew treadmill mind control was a thing?

Perspective...

Monday, May 06, 2013

So a few weeks ago my husband and I went out and bought a treadmill. We were sick of paying for gym memberships that we never had time to use so cancelled them and invested in a home machine instead. To justify the cost I decided that I would use the treadmill every day for at least 10 minutes per day.

I managed daily exercise for 36 consecutive days then I had an afternoon when I was unwell and so missed my daily session.

And you know what? The world didn't cave in. I didn't immediately gain 10kg! I didn't go out in the the kitchen and eat everything in the cupboard.

And then the next day I got back on the treadmill again. Day 3 of my current streak today. I think I'm getting it!

Cheers,
Susan

I did it!

I did it! I really did it!

I ran 7K without stopping!

I was thinking about what an achievement it was for me and realised that not only is it the longest distance I have run since joining SP and the completing the C25K programme but it is in fact the longest distance I have run EVER! Even in school I would do anything to avoid running. In our school cross country or road races I would run past the marshalls and then walk again as soon as I was out of sight.

Clearly SP has changed my life. Thanks to you all, especially my spark friends for their support.

7K tomorrow

Saturday, February 25, 2012

So tomorrow is the big day - am going to run 7K in a large organised fun run in my home town. Haven't been out running for over two weeks so am a bit worried.

Wish me luck!

A nice surprise

Wednesday, January 04, 2012

So last night I was getting ready to go to work and doing up my belt. I slid the buckle along until it was comfortable and looked down - and it was on the last notch!
It is so great to see real evidence of progress. Gonna have to get out some tools and put some more notches in that belt!
What nice surprises have you had lately?
