I currently live on 8 acres in the boonies (about 45 minutes from the closest major city) with my girlfriend, our 2 dogs, 1 cat and my ex's bazillion farm animals. He lives in the city in an apartment with 2 dogs and his girlfriend.
Thankfully, we are moving in 10 days. Into said city, with only our 2 dogs and cat.
However, I am awake at 4 a.m. because of the farm animals - the goats in particular. One of them had kids last night, and as adorable as they are, it's a stressful thing. We have another one who looks to be next, but she is very small, so she'll probably have to go to the vet when she goes into labor. I'm REALLY hoping she can hold out until we don't live here anymore, but I'm not counting on it. I woke up at 3 a.m. to check on her and could not go back to sleep - ugh.
Okay, so I guess I should somehow turn this into a weight loss related blog... So, my plan for when we move into the city: We will live in an apartment, so no more letting the dogs just run around in the yard. They'll have to be taken for multiple walks every day, which will be good for us and them. We plan on at least one 30 minute walk daily for exercise, plus the short walks to let them do their business.
Since I'm an early riser, I'm also going to continue getting up at 5 or 5:15 a.m. to do some yoga or light cardio before I go to work in the morning. When I've done it before it's really helped me wake up and be ready for my day.
The biggest lifestyle change we are making when we move has to do with our eating habits. We have decided that we can only go out for dinner two times per month, and the same with ordering take out. This means cooking a lot more at home, which will be much healthier for us. I have TONS of cookbooks with healthy recipes, and now I'll get to use them! I also ordered a freezer cookbook to teach us how to batch cook and freeze things for those nights when neither of us feel like cooking.
I'm looking forward to this move for so many reasons: being close to work, our friends and the gym, not having to drive forever to go grocery or any other kind of shopping, and not having so many responsibilities that aren't mine (the farm and farm animals). However, I think the change to a healthier lifestyle is the best one. I've been wanting to do so much to become a healthier person, but it's always been hard living out here without a safe place to exercise, or the time to do it because of all the driving back and forth to work.
Now, I have so many things to look forward to, I just don't know what to do with myself! It's really a great feeling, being happy and looking forward.
