My MRI results came back and I definitely will have to get surgery to repair my ACL (ligament in my left leg).

New haircut - done
New suit - done
Now to work on how to say things in a way so accentuate my best features. I think my problem is I'm too honest and let it all hang out. I really need to hold back more and be reserved.

Billy Crystal did a good job this year, I thought it was enjoyable with no major controversies. Angelina Jolie looked particularly skinny borderline anorexic. Cirque Du Soleil was amazing. Overall it was fun to watch while I was cooking all my meals for the week. Good night all.

Comments about your weight?

Friday, February 24, 2012

What is the worst comment people have made to you since you lost weight about how you looked before?
Don't get me wrong I like hearing from people that I look great and lost so much weight. I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth but some comments are just totally over the line of normal and some are in fact harmful. For example...
I really hate it when my family or anyone else makes additional comments. Both my aunts, my mother and my dad believe they are helping when they make these comments but they are not helpful. Here is a list of comments I've heard recently:
Dad - "You look great" my response: "thanks" (it should've stopped there but then he continues...) "you look much better at this weight. you were getting too fat" me: "yeah I know so what's going on with you?" (changing the subject)
Mom- (email response to my telling her I will be interviewing for new jobs soon) "keep getting trimmer as you looked better with the pounds off last time I saw you. A two ton tony does not get hired. A slim/trim, good looking and smart girl will. All of which you can achieve loosing that weight." (email deleted but I'm still angry about it)
Aunt1 - (this one is an exercise fiend and always watched her weight her entire life and picked on all of us fatties in family. Last year she says while at my fattest) "Well I don't say anything anymore because then everyone gets mad at me but you know you need to loose weight. I'm not going to say anything so I'll just say you know what to do" (um, thanks, I think? You're not going to say anything but you said it anyway)
Aunt2 - (after I lost the weight she posted as a public comment on Facebook about I picture I posted) "You look so much better. Remember exercise whenever you can and eat apples instead of sweets. every little bit counts" (thanks, if I didn't already know that I wouldn't have lost the weight in the first place, but thanks for the public comment on my facebook page.)
I've also heard from random people who were not family "you were fat" and "you look SO much better now" (emphasis on the so).
Why can't people just STFU? Say you look good and leave it at that.

I'm sorry you have to deal with those backhanded compliments!

I think this is part of why the social aspect of SP is so great. Sparkers tend to "get" each other because we're all going through similar things...and hopefully would never say anything so insensitive!

Oh my goodness! I completely agree with you...I have only lost about 25 pounds almost so far and people are just now starting to say things but yeah all of the you look SO much betters and the tips that I dont even need to hear. Its even worse when you get weight loss tips from someone else who also is overweight and not doing anything about it. I dont know why and i dont know if its wrong but it drives me nuts.

Where did it go? I'm thinking I should already go to the garden center to get my veggie seeds started for the season. Punxsutawney Phil is a big fat liar!

We have a backyard we share with the rest of the building, but I'm the only person who uses it. The inground plants are ornamental but our vegetables and herbs are all potted. Last year we grew a lot! 3 different varieties of tomatoes, Thai chili peppers, Hungarian hot peppers, jalape˝os, bell pepper, eggplant, parsley, cilantro, basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, lemon thyme and sage. I froze most of the herbs. We still have too many Thai chilies. I cleaned them and froze them for the winter and use them for stir fry and Thai style chicken soup. I'll post pictures on my profile this weekend.
