BF parents are visiting and we decided to take a long weekend road trip. everyday I'm at the whim of their terrible eating habits. They don't eat lunch and we're on the road so I can't stop if they don't want to. So every night has been a pig out fest. All you can eat breakfast, Surf and turf, pasta, beer, wine, shots... It's total insanity. At least there is a gym in the hotel, so we've been getting up early to work out. I've been going over my calories every day so I know I gained back 5 lbs. ugh!

    Great ideas the other commenters have. You could go to a grocery store as opposed to a lunch restaurant, and get stuff you can nibble on in the car for hours like baby carrots or grapes.

    I can see how hard this is for you. I agree that you should pack some healthy food for yourself. You do need to take care of yourself. Have fun.

  Tuff stuff! That is hard. Can you pack a cooler with a few healthy things? Maybe a wrap, yogurt (Greek) for extra protein, and maybe some fruit? I think I would have to insist! It's fine to indulge here and there, but after awhile we really feel it.
Have fun, but remember you are important too, take care of yourself. Your good health is worth it! emoticon

9 weeks post knee surgery

Well I'm doing about 90% better since I had my knee surgery 9 weeks ago. I'm still not walking down the stairs properly but it's mostly better. I'm exercising regularly now and trying to do as much as I am allowed to do every day. My physical therapist says I can start running again next week, I'm just not sure what she means by running. I was never a treadmill person, in fact I hate them and feel very insecure on them. I like to run outside, but pavement is usually too hard on the knees. So I guess I'll find out what she means soon enough. Have a good week everyone!

    How about running in the pool . Water has a lot of resistance .

Progress not perfection

Well I just keep pigging out on chocolate lately. It seems like every day there is some kind of calorie bomb being offered. It is very hard to resist when it's right in front of you. On a positive note, usually fruit is also offered. I'm tracking every bite, so that's half the battle. On a positive note I have been exercising regularly, so the net effect is I haven't gained or lost. It's not a bad thing considering I can't do any major cardio right now. I was looking over my charts and saw my biggest weight loss times were when I was running a lot. So when my doc clears me for running again I will focus on loosing weight again. I the meantime I need to work on consistency in my diet so I maintain what I've lost so far.


House hunting

So we're planning to move into bigger place this year and have started searching on-line for the house we will live in for the next 20+ years. There is this great channel here in the US called HGTV (home and garden television). I must say I've become quite the addict. I really want to win one of those backyard make overs or even just make over any room. That would be so much fun!

Health Insurance

So most of you know me already but here's a little background. I had ACL surgery 7 weeks ago and have now been recovering and going to Physical therapy 3 times per week. So I just found out from my bastard health insurance company that they only approved 20 PT visits. My physical therapist is fighting for more visits, but she said it's a common occurrence. So I look it up on-line and sure enough 1000's of on-line complaints of insurance companies not giving enough PT visits post op. Well the thing is my health insurance says they will pay for up to 40 visits per year, so why don't they just give me the 40? Anyone else have this problem? How did you deal with it? The physical therapist said worst case scenario she will give me an aggressive at home plan to follow and just have me come in one per week. I could also pay for extra visits with my own money, which I will probably do because I know I need more physical therapy than this.
How do insurance companies get away with this? Physical therapy is 50% of the equation when it comes to recovering from knee surgery.
