Wish that I knew what to do

My life has changed quite a bit. I am now at a job where I make about $2000 less a month. All of my money goes to bills now and my husband is in control of the grocery shopping.

I am very thankful to have a job, I can't afford my medication now and it is really bothering me. I have no motivation to be active, I am depressed most of the time, and I have to eat whatever he buys. Lets just say....that if I only ate the healthy foods in my house, I would starve.

    Can he pay the bills and you do the grocery shopping? Failing that, get a good multivitamin and practice portion control.

I second the $4 Walmart prescriptions, if your meds are something that can do that.

    Glad you have a job!

Write down your food requests and give it to your hubby?

Make some phone calls or do an internet search and see if you can pay less for your meds.
Call the big pharmacy that makes them.

Some pharmacies (local and otherwise) will lower their prices if you explain to them what is happening.

Oh, and check out the Sp Teams that deal with Living on a Shoestring or finances or budgeting. The members have some really great ideas.

OOOOHHH, and while you are at it. (When you've got the time, of course) call the bill companies and find out if there are ways you can pay less. Lots of electric and gas and phone companies have special plans for those who don't have much $$.

    One day at a time :o) This helps me to get through the tougher patches in life. Do what you can today, and take it one day at a time. Something you could try is to take a few minutes to write a grocery list of what you'd like that's healthy or work one out together. Thinner's idea about making it a date is a cute idea! Also, finding a creative outlet helps, whether its painting, reading a book, yoga, kickboxing, playing an instrument, spending time with a pet, singing really loudly with music or whatever you love to do. I hope for the best for you!!! emoticon

  Sorry to hear of your job, I hope it works out for you. Your page is awesome, congradulations on your progress. What medications do you take? Are there generics for it? Ask your doctor if something similar could be ordered like the $4 prescription list at wal-mart. You can ask for the list and bring it to the doctor. My doctor keeps it in his office because a lot of people are in the same situation. They don't have everything but there is quite a bit on there. And for shopping... how about you go with your hubby to the store. Make it a date! Hope for the best for you! emoticon

I'm so fat right now. I say right now because my weight yo yos so much. I feel lousy, no energy, and my stomache almost always hurts. Need to figure it out. I'm not being productive at all right now. This morning I can't even eat a healthy breakfast because my stomache hurts from the buffet last night. So by lunch I will be starving. Ugh. Why do I do this to myself?

I would like to go for a walk at lunch today. I know its good for me and it helps clear my head, unfortunately lately I have been getting rub burns on my thighs because they are so fat, so hopefully if that isnt bothering me too much then I will walk. So depressing.

Swimming is a great form of exercise !

So the dr says "no more running" Apparently I have some sort of nerve damageand running is aggravating it. So.....after taking a few days off. I decided that I will become the best walker that I can. And I will train to improve on distance and speed.

    Sorry to hear that I know it can be important to keep exercise levels up in order to stay in shape, be fit, and be healthy. You should see what the Dr. recommends for you to do in order to replace your running perhaps riding a bike instead. Just a suggestion.

Completed day six this morning, but my left shin is really bugging me. The running on it seemed to hurt less than switching back to walking. My stamina is definately increasing. I'm not huffing and puffing. Sweating tons though. Hopefully leg will feel better for my run on Tues.

For some reason my walk/run was a little rough on my left leg today. But I did get it done. I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow and see if my weight has gone down at all. I know that I feel and look a little leaner, so thats a plus. Next challenge will be day 6 on Sunday morning.

    Weekends are always hard. Be sure to take a day of rest from exercising too. I usually do something light on Sundays, like a walk or 10 minutes on the recumbent bike not to break my streak.
