2013 - A new beginning

Monday, April 08, 2013

I've said it many times, new year, new beginning. However, I don't think I've ever had the right tools to actually make a change.

2012 was a rough year for me, personally and professionally. I spiraled downhill pretty quick and found myself really down on all aspects of my life by the beginning of January. I had a long conversation with my mom (one that she forced) and decided I needed some help. In addition to taking a small dose of medication, my awesome older brother set me up with a personal trainer / nutritionist that works with the athletes he coaches. She has been the best gift/addition to my life. She has become more of a friend than anything else. She keeps me in check with my food and has actually taught me HOW to eat and WHAT to eat. She's been so patient with me as I find my way around the healthy stuff in the grocery store and (slowly) learn how to cook. She holds me accountable and makes me believe there are good things inside me that I can give to the world. Something no one else has been able to get me to see in several years.

In just 10 weeks I have managed to completely change what I am eating, try new food that I swore I would never touch and lose 29 pounds! I feel so confident in this process that I gave away all my winter clothes yesterday because I am confident they will be way too big by winter.

I love how happy I am and the way my future looks :)

A New Year . . . Continuing to work towards my goals

Wednesday, January 04, 2012

I had a pretty rough month of December. No matter what I did, I just couldn't stay well! From the time I went back to work until we went on Winter Break, I don't think there was one day where I felt any better than 75%. I may have exercised 10 days out of the whole month (VERY unlike me!).

Normally this would have caused me to just give up on everything. I would get used to laying on the couch after work and eating whatever sounded good (since I didn't always have an appetite). Not this time!

Winter break did me a world of good. I slept (A LOT). I spent time with friends and family and tried to get back into an exercise routine. Although I did not lose any weight the month of December, I also did not gain any - YAY ME!

Now it is a new year and I am going to continue with the goals I started working towards last year. I will continue with my good eating habits, continue exercising and trying to take off some more of this weight. I have faith in myself!

Thanks to everyone on Spark for all the support!

Goal #1 Accomplished!

Sunday, October 30, 2011

Back on June 27th when I restarted my weight loss journey I had high hopes but not a whole lot of confidence! Fast forward 4 months and my confidence is growing! I have officially lost 22 pounds by my (self-imposed) deadline! When I stepped on the scale on Saturday morning, I almost thought it was a dream - I can't remember the last time I was that excited to see a number on the scale.

My next goal is a lofty one (especially with the holidays in full swing), 25 pounds by mid-March but I have faith that if I just keep plugging along, I will accomplish my goals. My family has been super supportive which has made a world of difference this time around. Also, I am not losing the weight for some big special event. I am doing this for me. I think this is the first time I have actually worked on losing weight for myself. It feels good!!

Thanks for the support and good luck to everyone on their "Spark Journey"

Amanda
