Making Choices

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

As I enter middle age, I often find myself thinking about the impact I make on the world around me. I know people watch how I respond and react to major events in my life. They also see my day-to-day living. This holds most true of the teenagers and twenty-somethings living in my home.

My journey to healthy living is no exception. My friends, family, and co-workers know my goal to lose weight and make healthier choices. They see the choices I make and these choices impact my integrity. Do I follow through with what I say I'm going to do? Do my actions match my words? Will I choose what's right? As I embark on this journey to a new and improved lifestyle, these thoughts invade my mind and provide motivation.

You always have a choice. Choices always have consequences. These consequences may be good or bad. This we know. Did you ever stop to think how long those consequences will last? How many are impacted by your choices? You may think your unhealthy choices will only affect you, but you can be certain that others are watching. Those choices may impact generations to come.

Just something to keep in mind when you consider choosing TV over an evening walk or a candy bar over yogurt and fruit.

Absolutely! Some choices put pounds where we don't want them and other choices make our heart and body healthy enough to last a few more years! I totally believe this. emoticon

New Day, New Opportunities

Thursday, June 06, 2013

Each new day brings new opportunities, new choices, and new mercies. Yesterday, I met my goals and went to sleep motivated and anticipating what today would bring. I am determined to make wise choices: not let this yucky rainy weather keep me from getting in some fitness time and not letting work lunch at Outback undermine my nutrition goals.

Good idea. There is always a way to get active. I am planning a trip to the "Y" today, but have been walking inside round and round just to perk up metabolism until then. emoticon

Here We Go Again

Wednesday, June 05, 2013

It seems like Deja Vu. I am motivated toward a healthier lifestyle. The problem? Despite REALLY wanting to keep it up, somehow I manage to find my way back to the starting line. I blame it on seasons, weather, work, etc. The real problem is self-discipline. I discovered I am one of those people that requires accountability in order to make these changes. Once I get the new "habits" established, I do great. I just need help getting there!

So...that led me back to SparkPeople. I don't have anyone locally to provide support so hopefully I can stay on track through the online community.

emoticon You are not alone! That's why we are all here, I imagine! It's more difficult trying to go it alone! I make sure if I am having a bad day that I announce my intentions to do what I should, knowing some other Sparker will ask me about it later. Example: I squeaked in my strength training minutes before midnight last night so I wouldn't have to confess otherwise! emoticon

Wishing you great success as you pursue your goals! Feel free to stop by my page anytime! emoticon

Welcome back! Yes, at times we are going around in circles. But every moment of every day is a new beginning, so let's make the best of it. I am in exactly the same spot. I have learned some things about myself and I am ready to move on, so are you and that is where Spark is such a help.

Week 3 of 5K Training

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

I have always wanted to run, but never thought I could. After hearing about Fleet Fleet's No Boundaries training I decided to give it a try. I am now in week 3 and I was able to run a mile straight through for the first time this past Monday in addition to the intervals for the other 1+ mile. My goal is to be able to run the entire 5k distance in the Mistletoe 5K on December 1st...maybe even sooner. emoticon

Way to go! I did the No Boundaries training last winter, but ended up with injured ankles and couldn't participate in the planned 5K. Don't you just love Stacy?
Continued good luck with your training. You can do it!!!
