5% Challenge Motivation

Friday, October 04, 2013

This challenge has given my the motivation to stay busy for most of this year and at one time I had a 100+ day streak going, which is the longest I have ever gone since joining SP. My motivation for this Fall challenge is to maintain a slow and steady weight gain, yes that's right a gain, for my pregnancy. So far I have gained around 25 lbs and I am only 23 weeks along and have about 17, give or take a few, weeks to go. I want to have the healthiest baby I possibly can while also ensuring that my labor and recovery will be swift as well.

Being able to take care of my baby after labor is very important to me and I know that the more active I am today and throughout my pregnancy the easier everything from delivery to recovery and beyond will be that much easier. If I can remain active throughout this pregnancy then I will be able to be more active after and therefore not only play an active role in my daughter's life but also return to activities sooner to help increase the recovery of my prior weight and to even surpass where I was to start with. I will be a healthy mom and be able to instil in my daughter the importance of healthy eating and an active lifestyle.

I hope to achieve optimal health by continuing to stay focused on my goals and by not leaving the 5 % challenges even when I have to head in the wrong direction for this blessing. Eventually I hope to reach my goal weight and maintain it for years to come by following these challenge for their motivation and accountability.

Well, that's some motivation! Good idea not to leave the challenge - it keeps us on a healthy course regardless of weight.

Streak Day 70

Monday, May 13, 2013

emoticon emoticon

I can hardly believe that I have been sparking for 70 days straight today! I have passed my longest streak of 62 days and am so excited to know that I will continue on this streak unless something happens to my ability to get online. :)

Now this doesn't mean that I have exercised everyone of these days but I've come pretty close to it and am proud of what I have done. And it doesn't mean that I have done everything right but it does mean that I am keeping myself accountable and making my health a priority. I haven't lost a lot of weight but I have lost some and I'm still working on losing the rest.

The 5% challenge is what turned everything around for me. I started my first 5% challenge in February and the first week I did great but then the second week I lost my steam. I posted about it and would apologize to the team for not helping and doing my part to help the team succeed. The support and responses that I got gave me the push that I needed to get off my butt and get moving. I admit that some days I am lazy and only do the exercises from my 10 week workout plan, which only takes me about 20 minutes, but there are days that I push myself and do that and another 30-40 minutes of cardio or more. Now I'm in my 2nd 5% challenge with the Shooting Stars and I stepped up to be Challenge Leader because I so believe in this challenge. The motivation that you get from being on a team is unbelievable and the things you learn will help you along your journey whether you are just beginning or even at goal and maintaining already.

My goal for this challenge is to get under 140 and stay there. If I lose my 5% then I will be at 137 and that would be awesome. I plan on increasing my cardio and adding in more steps as often as possible. I would also like to add more crossfit workouts into my week. Maybe throw in an Insanity workout or 2 for the added ST and Cardio together.

It was really great to read your blog this morning! You are doing fantastic and wow what a streak! I am enjoying the challenge so far! I did a ton of gardening on saturday and then with mother's day we hosted a brunch and I didn't do a thing afterwards. I felt bad posting a "rest" on the group page! Maybe this accountability thing will work for me too!

5% Challenge Spring into Summer Starting in May

Monday, April 22, 2013

OMG I can't believe how much this Challenge has helped me in the last 8 weeks. I have just finished my first challenge and although I didn't lose my 5% I was pretty close but the other changes that I have seen are just amazing.

I have been more dedicated to my journey than I ever have in the past. The challenge posts a different LTGL (living the good life) challenge every week which gets you to focus on the changes that need to be made to live a healthy lifestyle and help you along your journey. I have blogged more and been more active with people on SP because of the challenges which has also helped with accountability. Today is my 50 Day Streak and it's all because of knowing that a Team was depending on my involvement.

What have I accomplished on this journey with the 5% Challenge?

1) Motivation to do as much as I can to help the Team reach the goals set for the week.
2) Lost 6 lbs in 8 weeks, not counting the regains that I suffered in the middle.
3) I have been tracking more consistently and making changes to my food choices to meet my daily ranges more often.
4) My activity level has increased 10 fold.
5) I am more dedicated to my journey
6) my body has changed in ways that everyone around me is noticing, which leads to more motivation.
7) I completed another challenge for 30 days of squats finishing on Day 30 with 250 squats, total squats in 30 days was 3295!
8) I got involved at a higher level to encourage others along their journey as well and I can't say enough about this challenge.

If you are looking for a way to get on track and have more motivation then this is the challenge for you so join now by following the link below. I will be the Challenge Leader for this next challenge for Team Shooting Stars and look forward to meeting many new SP friends and doing my part to help you all reach your goals. Even if you are in maintnance mode this challenge is great for helping you stay on track and remember all the things that helped you get to your goal.

I look forward to seeing all my friends on this next challenge and hope that you will all join as it has been the push that I needed to get back on track and really work on my lifestyle change and journey!

Follow the link below to join in on the next challenge starting soon!

thanks for writing this! I really fell off the wagon this weekend...no tracking, no accountability, no exercise. I was busy, but in reality, I know that's just an excuse. I'm always busy and I always find time for exercise/tracking. Busy is a convenient excuse.

I feel so motivated after reading your post...thank you! Off to join the challenge. Hoping I have a similar experience!

Bittersweet Week

Monday, April 15, 2013

On Wednesday I will finish my 30 day Squat challenge with 250 squats, so only 3 days left. Thank God tomorrow is a rest day because I have a feeling that Tuesday and Wednesday are going to be pretty tough on my legs! emoticon

On Saturday I will make my last post to the 5% Winter to Spring Challenge that started 8 weeks ago. I couldn't be happier that I received and accepted an invitation to this challenge as it has helped me be more active on SP and in life. Knowing that I had an entire team counting on my exercise minutes or on how well I faced the LTGL challenge each week pushed me to give as much as I could.

Things that have changed over the last 8 weeks:

1) My Confidence
2) My Weight
3) My Motivation
4) My activity level
5) My tracking, blogging and paying attention to my SP friends

I can't wait to start another challenge that will keep me as grounded and focused on my journey and hope to see you all there with me!

It might be bittersweet but it can also be viewed as the time when it became clearer on what had to be done. You have so much more knowledge now, use it as you push forward into the 130s!
