Looking through the pictures I noticed something: you are smiling and show good self-esteem in each picture! That's what stands out and makes you beautiful. You might have lost at the casino but I think you're winning on your journey to a healthier life.

Smart way to gamble at the casino (even if you did lose) - taking the amount you're willing to spend on the fun. Very nice dress! You're looking great!

day 27...keep on keeping on...need help

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

So I hurt my back...I woke up yesturday and honestly could not get out of bed...I took some pain killer and headed to work and my boss let me stand at the regersiter and not do anything but it still really hurt with the moving and bending I had to do so I took today off and I have tommorow off....
NOW I think there are serveral things that lead to this
1.on sunday I did WAY more than normal at work inculding HEAVY cleaning and stocking...and moving 80lb boxes.(sunday)
2.swimming for 45 mins strait without touching the pool then another 20 then another 30(mon)
3.Helping move in the new fridge and move out the old fridge (mon)
4.(tmi warning but you guys are my closeest friends) me and cody had a huge fight and afterwards he wanted to make up in a wink wink way and he was bending me in tones of ways...best sex of my life even if he broke my back LOL (monday)

But I am truly still in a lot of pain and it is not getting any better so what I need help on is I cant just sit here and not exercise but I cant do anything even chair exercise hurts my back moving my legs pulls on my back moving my arms pulls on my back....ideas???
Im about to go sit in the hottub at my mother in laws apartment when it opens at 10 maybe it will help enough that I can do chair exercises in it!!!!

Take it easy. Pain that bad means your body needs to rest and recover. Heat therapy as others have suggested is good. So is massage to work out any knots. Take a day or two off, then try some LIGHT exercises. If the pain persists for several days, you may need to see a doctor, since that may mean it could be something more serious. For now, though, just rest and see how you feel afterward.

I agree with blue42down. Don't feel absolutely obligated to exercise. If you are injured, exercising can make it worse, and in the long run you will end out being out of the game longer if you hurt yourself more. A day or two of rest to let your muscles heal and avoiding a more serious long term injury is more important than meeting your weight loss goal/calorie burn for the week. Eat a little less if you have to. I have had weeks where I've been sick or injured for a couple of says, but still lost weight.

I agree with alternating the cold and the heat to the worst areas...when I was having tons of back issues my chiropractor had me walk, yep, walk.

The best thing for back pain is sometimes a nice massage! I'd really not push it with the ST for awhile, but gentle stretching might be helpful.

Hope you are feeling better soon, sounds like WAY too much activity for just a short span of time!!!

BLUE42DOWN 6/27/2012 12:59PM

Sounds like Cody owes you a little TLC for your back. emoticon

Don't feel like you absolutely 100% have to exercise. Resting an injury is far more important as pushing too much could injure it further, especially since it's hard to tell if it hurts worse at that point from just being sore or from being pulled wrong. Definitely use the ice (and heat) and put as little stress on it as you can.

If you're worried about the weight loss, simply look at how many calories you normally burn and are missing, divide that out over the next several days and adjust your food and activity (once your back feels better) to balance it out. Also, try to make sure that what you are eating includes plenty of healthier foods - things like calcium-rich greens and lean proteins - to help your body heal.

Make sure you use ice too. Heat to relax the muscles, but ice to calm down the inflammation that happens. Do a 20 min on, 20 min off kinda deal and alternate heat and ice. I would just take it easy instead of trying to do something while you are in pain! If you are not better in a few days maybe see a chiropractor?

HATTIE2012 6/27/2012 9:12AM

Make sure you are lifting properly. Not using your back to lift and if it's hurting too bad you can use a back brace to help. Try a heating pad to loosen the muscles or a really hot shower. Most of all try to rest. You probably just strained it, but you never know unless you go to a doctor. Good luck to you! Hope you feel better!
