A Stationary Bike's Best Friend, Pt. 2

Tuesday, October 04, 2011

emoticon For those people expressing interest in the biking dvds, go to http://www.bike-o-vision.com

This site has wonderful dvds for use with a stationary bike. It is great exercise. I discovered the site after I blew out my knee 3 years ago and needed to make adjustments in the way I exercised. My therapist said the best exercise for my knee would be a stationary bike. My calves have never bothered me as I wouldn't term these as vigorous spinning dvds. The dvds are as long as 90 minutes which I can break down to 30 minute increments. I have quite a collection of them and they are continually making new dvds.

Some places they take you on the bikes: Florida, The Big Island of Hawaii, Yellowstone National Park, the California Coast line, San Francisco Bay, and Austria, just to name a few. This has helped me a lot to get into exercising with my bike and providing a way to keep me active.

A Stationary Bike's Best Friend

Monday, October 03, 2011

I started October off right yesterday by riding on my stationary bike. A 30 minute ride and I rode to The Gulf Coast and saw some of New Orleans. The view was wonderful! I don't travel much so I find that biking dvds really make a difference to me. I listen for that beat which gets my legs pumping....I hate the uphill climb as my tension is tightened a bit but those descents are great as I start spinning. Although, I wish I could coast sometimes.....LOL emoticon

Do you ever have any problems with your calves the next day? The reason I ask is I have a spin bike and I did my 30 mins workout with their DVD and the next day I couldn't hardly walk as both my calves was sore. Went to the ER and they said I strained my muscle in both. I haven't been back on my spin bike since. Was wondering any advice you could give me? Sandy

A Nice Surprise from Sparkpeople!

Thursday, September 29, 2011

emoticon Well, yesterday turned out to be a really nice day. I had been involved in a Diabetes Challenge on Sparkpeople and finished it sometime ago. I received an email recently and was told I'd won a prize worth $200. Now, I thought coupons as the sponsor had been Glucerna....I came home from work and found a big box had been left at my door. No coupons but there was an exercise ball; a stabalizer for the ball; t-shirts from Glucerna & Sparkpeople; an inkpen; the Spark book with two workout dvds done by Coach Nicole; 3 exercise tubes with a workout dvd & tote bag; a music workout dvd that I can use with my stationary bike;some plastic bracelets and a really nice Sparkpeople water bottle. I fell over - this is wonderful.

It truly made my day and I never expected so much. So, it is a big thank you to Sparkpeople. It also has inspired me to do more this week in the way of exercising. I have more at my fingertips to use. I especially got excited by the exercise tubing & dvd. This will be a big help to me.

emoticon Sparkpeople!!!!

Thanks for posting this, I, too, wondered if "real" people win. Have fun with the prizes. Way to keep sticking with it. I'm sure this gives you extra motivation as the weather starts turning colder. emoticon

Starting Over with Weight Watchers

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

emoticon It is sort of frustrating to be starting over again. From Atkins to South Beach to G.I. Diets and back to Weight Watchers. I feel like I've gone the gamut of weight loss programs with little or no results.

I weighed in at 212 lbs. and after 7 weeks I am at 200 lbs. I have had a difficult time having to start this again and I am back to steadily doing aerobics again. I am using my stationary bike and free weights. Keeping motivated can be a chore but I'm the only one who can do this.

I really have to commit this time.

Happy Valentine's Day

Monday, February 14, 2011

I can remember as I child in grade school how we would decorate a shoebox with glitter, valentine designs, and make a slot to have valentines dropped in....we'd place the box on our desk and then distribute our valentines to our classmates. I think that was a nice time.

Now, as I'm older, the valentines don't come as much but I send out e-valentines to my family & friends and I recall the enjoyment of making that shoebox as beautiful as I could!
