Nearly a month

Monday, October 20, 2014

Wow! It's been nearly a month since I blogged. So depressed because I couldn't run. My knee has finally healed. Lesson: Watch amount of walking done on cobblestones.

I ran my first run again today in 6 weeks. emoticon

So happy. Hope all is well with everyone. Posted a few more of the Paris pics.

Default mode

Friday, September 19, 2014

I was talking with my health coach yesterday. That sparked this train of thought. I returned from Paris, where I walked 5 miles per day minimum, on September 13th. It is now the 18th today. It is true that I began work full time on the 15th. With that comes a lot of extra work up front. But I hadn't done any significant workouts at all. I have averaged only 2700 steps a day.
I allowed myself to get sidetracked because of work and the cold I was getting. "I'll just rest a couple of days while this cough is on". Well, that "couple" turned into 5.

I was running on "default mode". You know, the kind of mode you get into when you're not really planning or thinking about working out. This kind of mode is what kept me defeated all these years.

So I think this is breakthrough in my mindset. Now I can recognize "default mode" maybe a little easier next time and set a plan to defeat it next time. Today is the first time back on track for exercise. Feels sooooo goood!

And for my friends wondering about my trip to Paris. A dream. Just a dream. I am so relaxed and stress free it's crazy. The French wine and Champagne is amazing. The beer, not so much. I never thought I was a Champagne lover. Apparently I am not a bad champagne lover. emoticon

Attached is a picture from my trip. Relaxing on the cruise ship up the Seine to the coast of France.

Thank you all who prayed for my safe trip. The volcano in Iceland threatened the whole time but God took care of it.

Until next time,

Ally

Thanks all. Noreen it is CrusiEurope. Excellent people. Would highly recommend them. Absolutely refused to let us bring our luggage on and off even though mine weighed 50 lbs! emoticon

So was it a river cruise you did? If so, what cruise line? We did one on Ama Waterways a couple of years ago and had a great time. We went from Germany to Austria to Budaphest. I would love to do one in France or Italy. I think the recognition of default mode is very insightful and will help you on this journey. I know that following my half marathon training schedule has really kept me on track. I think I'll just have to come up with a schedule to follow after the race is over. I definitely do better with a schedule. I do great on the days I work with my trainer, but I think I need to write down a strength training program to do on my own - I kind of have a random approach and it is not as effective. Run strong!

Confession time

Friday, August 29, 2014

It's confession time.

I haven't been on track for a while. I've been so busy (I know, an excuse) getting ready for the trip to Paris. Lots more running around. Forgetting to eat. Drinking too much beer. (ok it really tastes good in the summer).

I am two pounds up. Am on my way to Paris tomorrow. I know I will do a ton of walking there. I will make sure I get some strength training in at least 2 x a week. The 8k training will have to resume when I get back. I don't feel comfortable training in a place I don't know and there is no fitness room at the hotel. Rats.

I have been making mostly good choices in eating though.

Hope all is well. Miss hearing from you all. I'll get back in touch when I return. See you guys in two weeks with some pictures!

I could have written your blog myself. Vacation and traveling make it difficult to keep track of everything and.... I'm sorry.... but summer = beer! (Two weeks at the beach....how do you not?) I walked at least two miles almost daily when I was there, was really good about what I ate but I still came home with two extra pounds. I think that's ok.....had a great time! I'm not by any means giving up.....just going to have to get serious in September! OH but now it's FOOTBALL season....time to tailgate!!! H emoticon Have a great trip! I would SO be in trouble with that WINE!!!

heheh@beer. It really DOES taste good on a hot day. And a beer or two won't kill you.

:)

if you have a body

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

This is my motivation today. I have always seen atheletes as people who are actively exercising their bodies on a consistent basis and strive for a goal

This is us. We do this on a regular basis so all of us are atheletes!

Just saying.

Love you guys,

Ally

Motivation

Monday, August 18, 2014

This motto is my motivation today. It got me off my butt to do my 8k training session for today. And because I did I set my new PR for a 5k. 43:40! It may not be very fast but it's my record! emoticon

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm going to get caught up with you all very soon!

Now it's time to take my beagle babies for a walk!
