Summer Scavenger Hunt

One of the teams I am on decided to have a scavenger hunt. There were 25 items we needed to find over the weekend and following are the items I found.

1 & 2. Strawberries and ice cream.


3. Butterfly


4 & 5. Sunglasses and lawn chair.


6. Corn on the cob.


7. A Robin. I just happen to catch this Robin in flight.


8. BBQ grill.


9. Paper plate.


10. A bug. This is a fly. They drove me crazy all weekend, inside and outside.


11. Motorcycle


12. Swimming Pool


13. Picnic table.


14. Flip Flops. My mom and I found this funky flip flops while we were shopping.


15. Watermelon. Ok, maybe this isn't a real watermelon but it sure looked good.

    Thanks everyone for your comments. I did have a lot of fun finding everything and taking pictures. I found some of the other items but I didn't get any pictures.

Some of the other items on the list were
a farmers market
people outside walking or running (saw this)
people out riding bikes
sunscreen (I had this)
a water bottle (I had this too)

I can't think of the others but I think there were 5 more objects.

Sat. Feb. 1 - Rest.

Blog Number 3 for Winter 2013 5% Challenge

Today for the challenge I need to answer the question of what am I doing to encourage myself to stay on track. Well, I kind of answered that question yesterday. I plan to keep planning healthy meals and sticking to the plan. When I have a choice I have to make the good and right choice. I know by health and body with thank me later.

    This is a great start, but what will you do if you make a bad choice? How will you recover? I only ask this because we can't all make good choices every time and we need to plan for it, so what's your encouragement when you don't want to make the healthy choice? Great goal!!

Blog Number 2 for Winter 2013 5% Challenge

Today for the challenge the question is how will I accomplish my new habit? My new habit from yesterdays blog was to go back to the Paleo eating lifestyle. I plan to get back on track with this habit by continuing to plan my meals for the week and sticking to my plan. I also have to make a conscience decision every time I eat to only eat healthy foods. That's the hard part for me. I like bread, fries, and sweets (especially chocolate). I know I can do it though because I have done it before and I had great weight loss success. I fell off of the wagon and went back to my old ways. I have to get back on track because I know for me that is the only way I can lose weight.

I welcome any and all suggestions.

    I too have had success before, except I have never tried the paleo eating lifestyle, just balanced eating and tracking. I too fell off the wagon and am back to be successful again and make it stick this time! We can do this!

Blog Number 1 for Winter 2013 5% Challenge

The question I need to answer for this challenge is what new habit do I want to establish. This isn't a brand new habit but it is fairly new to me. I want to get back to eating clean and following the Paleo eating lifestyle. The Paleo eating lifestyle consists of the following: fresh meats (preferably grass-produced or free-ranging beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and game meat), fish, seafood, fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and healthful oils (olive, coconut, avocado, macadamia, walnut and flaxseed). It also consists of avoiding the following: dairy products, cereal grains, legumes, refined sugars, processed foods, and bread.

    Actually the DASH diet was recently featured on Dr. Oz which advocated starting the diet with no grains (not even whole wheat) nor dairy. It keeps the blood sugar stable. Good luck!

    I completed the Whole30 program Dec - Jan, felt great, and then went back to my old habits; emoticon . My DH got very cranky not having his grains and dairy in the house, and I got tired of listening to the complaints! For this challenge, I'm trying to follow Bob Harper's Skinny Rules, but I may ease back into the Paleo lifestyle.

I hope you blog more on your progress!

    My daughter has been trying to do this too. She is getting tripped up by cupcakes. She is full time Nanny and they always have cupcakes in the house. Good luck! I hear that Paleo diet really gives great results!
