So this morning as I'm catching up here on Spark reading some blogs and what not, I found myself welcoming new members! I stopped and thought woooahh wait a minute who do you think YOU are??? welcoming people like you own spark!! And I realized how comfortable I have become on this site. When I first started it took me forever to open up and post comments and blogs and such. But you know what? I do own Spark and so do YOU!! So own it!!     I'm doing the same thing!!! It took me a long time to start doing that, and then I realized, wow, by doing this, not only am I helping to motivate someone, but it's keeping me on track! I've never lasted two weeks of dieting without a nutritionist or trainer I had to report to a minimum of four times a week. It's two weeks in, I'm 9lbs down, and I'm doing it all with Shaun T of Insanity, and you Sparks!!! emoticon

P.S. I love that you love Zumba. I'm a Zumba instructor and I can't get enough of it. I did have to up the intensity though of my outside workouts because my body just got so used to doing Zumba that I wasn't seeing changes. Insanity has been just like they said, insane. Saw little results the first week (about 3 inches lost total), and 2 weeks into I don't know if I'm psyching myself into seeing results or if I'm actually getting them, but I feel great!

Let's Talk About Loose Skin....

I know this is NOT the most popular topic, but we must disscuss it LOL.

So I was thinking this morning Im 10-12 lbs from "goal" and now the question is what am I going to do about this loose skin?? I have read many blogs and seen many pics on here of people who have lost tons of weight and their skin looks fantastic...Im wondering what am I doing wrong?? Any tips? remedies? creams potions? a specific vitamin or food? at this point I'm willing to try almost anything... emoticon

    I'm going to reiterate what others have said. Drink lots of water, take your vitamins, strength train and give it time. I've lost 45 lbs and so far I don't have too much loose skin, luckily. Stretch marks on the other hand...ugh, but I've been exfoliating with a loofah and putting cream on the stretch marks and I'm definitely seeing improvement in just a month. I'm hoping by next summer my body fat percentage will be where I want it, the stretch marks will be diminished as much as I am able to get them to and the little bit of loose skin I have on my stomach (I'm likely to have more as I continue to lose cause that's where I've always held the bulk of my weight) will tighten up by staying on top of the things I've mentioned above. I will be comfortable in a bikini next summer!!! We can do this. :-)

    I'm worried about this too and still have a long way to go! I'm getting the impression, from what I've seen over time in different places, that TIME (for the skin to adjust after you reach goal, etc) and keeping going with cardio and strength will be key. I'm also trying to use lotion more, especially cocoa butter lotion or a firming lotion in the areas that will be the worst especially. Overall diet I think will help the skin bounce back too, so lots of water/green tea/fruit is a part of my plan and a multivitamin. I'm also taking (when I remember) a fish oil supplement and biotin as I've read those can help a lot with skin/nails/hair, etc. (along with other benefits) I'm hoping if I keep doing a lot of strength type cardio like the kickboxing, that it'll take care of itself...but if not I'll be googling like crazy! :)

    genetics plays a huge roll, ( pun intended) also where you carried the weight, how long you were overweight. I thought my biggest problem would be the pannus but my neck and thighs are really what is sagging!. I also have some serious bat wings, but I talked to a personal trainer and will start working on some upper arm exercises to reduce them as much as possible

I'm sure there are a million out there. I would imagine that anything that is going to stimulate collagen production is going to be a good thing. I've been religiously using lotion (not sure if it will help) and have upped my vitamin C intake.

Google. I'm sure there is lots out there!

    My mom hates her "bat-wings." Time has helped, but she found some ST exercises on SP that should help diminish the excess skin. I'd suggest looking up some stuff on SP, or posting to the message boards to see what other people suggest. Good luck!

    Time will help (it sucks, but it's true...)
Taking quality fish oil supplement helps too. It helps the body to heal and is a great anti-inflammation.
I've read that dry-brushing the skin a few times a week will activate the blood flow and help the skin shrink.
Expensive creams will only shrink your wallet!
Strength training is a great tool. So far, I find that my skin looks a LOT better since I lift heavy. I haven't bulked up at all (nobody at my gym looks "bulky"). I've been told some gym-members used to be much bigger (2 women in particular) and I just couldn't believe it! They just look fit! No loose skin showing at all!

$2 Garage Sale Score!!

Hey Sparkers, well it is Saturday and this morning there was a community wide garage sale in the community where my DH works, so when we (DS and I) took him to work we saw the signs all over the place and decided we would check them out a little later (it was only 6am :) Last year we also went to these garage sales and bought some pretty groovy items I don't really remember what we bought but it's only once a yr type deal lol...anyway I scored the dancersice 4 dvd workout set for $2! I never had heard of this workout but the lady said it was pretty awesome and it was just $2 bucks so I said what the heck...DS reminded me that I had "a whole bunch of working out dvds already" but I didn't listen to him and bought it anyway LOL...So usually when I get workout dvds I just watch the first time around "lame" I know...but that's what I do, well when we got home and all I was going to watch one of the videos and when it started playing I said what the heck am I doing just watching??? get up and DO the video! So I did just that! loved it!! Sort of like zumba, thats probably why I liked it, the steps were simple enough to follow and next thing I knew the video was DONE!!! So yay for the $2 garage sale find!! Have you ever heard of this work out series? Anyway I think it is a good addition to my workout dvd collection :)

10 reasons to lose10 lbs...just 10 lbs.

So I'm just 10 lbs away from reaching my "goal" weight (well 11 but let's just call it 10) I need new ideas to get rid of these 10 lbs, this is my DS' last week of tball, and then I will be able to go back to my zumba class routine (3-4 classes a week) I will also be cutting back on the machiattos...sorry starbucks and sorry to my hubby in advance because I can get a little bitchy without my starbucks lol.

So I thought I would make a list of 10 reasons why I want to lose these stubborn lbs.

1. Losing 10 lbs will put me at a "healthy' bmi for the first time in FOREVER!!!
2. -10 will put me at a total 40 lbs lost 40!!!
3. black pencil skirt size 6 I bought on sale last week, need I say more???
4. want to get a "reward" hair cut and color!
5. more energy to keep up with the kiddo
6. because I think running @129 lbs will be easier than running @139???maybe thats just wishful thinking :)
7. to improve my overall health
8. maybe with losing the lbs I will find the confidence to finally wear the lingerie I bought lol (I know I should just wear it anyway)
9. because I KNOW I can!!
10. gain much needed self confidence!

Wish me luck as I continue working on myself!!

    Love this. I think I will write out my list of reasons to be motivated - I have more than 10 pounds to reach my goal - but this got me thinking...baby steps!

    Compared to the length you have come so far (30lbs! wow!) this is a piece of cake! You've already accomplished the goal of losing 10 pounds THREE FULL TIMES, so I'm positive you can do it one more time!

Ok, that was my pep talk, lol. But seriously, I know where you're at. As you know, I too am towards the end of my weight-loss journey & I swear the last few pounds are just as hard as the first few were! Keep doing what you've been doing, be EXTRA patient with yourself & it'll come. Good luck! Keep blogging your progress emoticon

    Oo! Me, too! Me, too!

I'm at 160.5, so ten pounds will put me at about 150, ten pounds above my goal.

1.) I'll be comfortably within my healthy BMI, not just barely!
2.) I'll be the most slim since freshman year of college.
3.) I'll probably be able to fit into my goal-shorts at 150 lbs (they're a size 10).
4.) I agree, running at 150 MUST be easier than at 160, right!?
5.) I'll be at my mom's goal weight, and she's my height, so that's BOUND to be a good weight if we BOTH want it!
6.) I'll be 2/3s of the way there, more than half-way, so I'll have done most of the work already.
7.) I'll only have TEN MORE pounds, and if I lost it twice, I can lose it once more!
8.) I'll be at my goal weight for my cousin's wedding, so if I get there by October, I'll buy myself a pretty new dress for the wedding.
9.) I'll look DARN good!
10.) I'll have exercised THAT much more, eaten THAT much better, and will FEEL GREAT.

    My 10 reasons are:
1. Get back down to a weight I haven't seen since esrly high school (6-7 years ago).
2. I want to prove it to myself that I can do it
3. I bought a red pencil skirt on sale the other day (weird coincidence!)
4. Be "that" fit girl at the gym, the one people wonder why she's even there
5. Random compliments from family and friends
6. Inspire family/someone else to help themselves get fitter and healthier
7. Be thinner than the athletic girls in high school who got fat after they stopped playing school sports ( a little mean, I know)
8. Wear my party dresses without having to remember to suck in my tummy
9. Try running outisde (in public)
10. And of course, be healthy

They haven't really changed, when I reach my goal maybe they will :)
