Jump Rope for Heart

Friday, February 19, 2010

I had so much fun at the Jump Rope for Heart event today at my kids elementary school! I supervised 6 1st graders ( including my own 1st grader) as they spent the last 1 1/2 hours of school jumping rope and chatting with their friends. I got to jump rope for a while. And then I joined in on the parent/teacher jump rope contest. It was fun and I got some exercise in along with it! The next time your kids have and event like that, use that time to have fun with your kids at school and get some exercise!

that sounds so fun - I would have loved something like that - even though I can't jump rope worth a diddly do.

Feeling real good!

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

I am glad to finally be under 170 lbs. Some of my pants are too big and some are beginning to fit comfortably now. My winter coat is too big, but, I am not getting rid of it until the cold weather is gone. I look forward to shorts time and getting into the pool for some of my fitness regiment. I am making it a goal to do the Herman-Memorial sugar Land triathlon with my 13 year old daughter! She was the reason that I had to stop training for my first tri. She will be the reason that I jump back in!

Yuck, Yuck, Yuck!

I caught my son's stomach bug. I don't feel like dying or anything. But, if I do to much or eat something other than corn chex, my stomach starts doing back flips! So, I am opting out of any exercise today and staying relatively sedentary since I can't seem to eat any real nutrition in me!

getting back into running shape

Saturday, February 06, 2010

I am trying to get into running shape. I used to be a cross country and long distance track runner. I consistently ran a 6 minute mile. After having 4 kids, I am trying to regain that momentum that I enjoyed as a 20something lady. I did a long walk with about 5 - 2 minute jogging spurts. I wasn't easy. I had to tap into my competitive nature. I kept telling myself " I am going to make it to the stop sign(or whatever the goal was). " It took forever for the stop sign to get there! I wouldn't allow myself to think of the discomfort. I wasn't in pain, I just had to work harder and my body was resisting. I am glad that I made myself do it. I got through it and I am not sore or wracked in pain as a consequence! I will try again on Monday, and on Wednesday, and on Friday. I can't get back into running without a bit of hard work. So here's to a bit of hard work for Saturday! emoticon

Back on track

Friday, February 05, 2010

I have had a semi bad week with being so busy that I can't keep track of things to sick kids, etc. I have been walking though, especially with the weather getting nicer. I have exercised so much that I can eat with the family tonight without feeling too guilty. I don't like having to eat different things from everyone else. I have to cook twice sometimes. I wish there was a way to integrate my meals into the family meals.
