I am trying to get into running shape. I used to be a cross country and long distance track runner. I consistently ran a 6 minute mile. After having 4 kids, I am trying to regain that momentum that I enjoyed as a 20something lady. I did a long walk with about 5 - 2 minute jogging spurts. I wasn't easy. I had to tap into my competitive nature. I kept telling myself " I am going to make it to the stop sign(or whatever the goal was). " It took forever for the stop sign to get there! I wouldn't allow myself to think of the discomfort. I wasn't in pain, I just had to work harder and my body was resisting. I am glad that I made myself do it. I got through it and I am not sore or wracked in pain as a consequence! I will try again on Monday, and on Wednesday, and on Friday. I can't get back into running without a bit of hard work. So here's to a bit of hard work for Saturday!
