Big goal! I hope it doesn't kill me!!

Tuesday, November 01, 2011

My son's boy scout troop is participating in the Houston MS 150. Since he is under 13, he has to ride a tandem bike, according to the race rules. Guess what? that means I have to ride with him! We are starting out slow. We did a 5 mile ride that left us pleasantly exhausted. Of course, we didn't go very fast either. We agreed that our goal was to finish and nothing else! Being 44 makes it hard to train for a big race like this, so I hope it doesn't kill me in the process. If you have done something similar, talk to me! I could use some advice on training smart for such a long race.

Week one of Dr. Oz's waist whittling diet

Saturday, August 06, 2011

We I am finishing week one of Dr. Oz's waist whittling diet. I have found some of the recipes to be so good that I will continue to use them. The black bean soup astounds my 7 yr. old. He ate 4 man-sized bowls in one sitting! I also the hearts of palm salad was very good. I also like the Harvest Garden soup.
I have been having a soup at lunch every day and I think that I will stick to that idea! I am going to make huge batches of 5 different soups to divide into one-serving containers and then put them in the freezer. When I want lunch, I pick one in the morning and it will be defrosted by lunch.

If you have any ideas for easy pickings for a meal that help you avoid the junk monster, let me know!

Days one and two of the Dr. Oz waist whittling diet

Wednesday, August 03, 2011

Well, I have completed 2 days of Dr. Oz's waist whittling diet. If you go to you can find the diet as well. The food is great! I can't eat all of it and I have lost 2 pounds in two days. The diet is heavy in the fruit and veggie area. I had 10 servings on day one and 7 on day two and, looking at day 3, I will get 9 servings from the fruit and veggie category. I haven't craved junk or sweets. I usually want bread and tortilla chips galore! Go to the website and try this if you need a change. Warning, it is a lot of food prep!

Back into the grind!

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Today I am trying to get back into the grind of daily life. It isn't easy when you just had an amazingly relaxing vacation! I managed to get back down to 152 pounds and that makes me happy. I am pretty sure it was all water weight. I drank on the beach, but, my guess is that it is hard to keep up the appropriate water requirements for a place like the beach. I stayed in the shade of my umbrella a lot. I drank my 52 oz Bubba jug of water every morning while sitting under said umbrella. I stuck to water during the rest of the day. I guess it wasn't going to happen!

I also went for my first jog/walk in about 2 months. Swim team took the routine right out of me! and then I didn't even try while on vacation. I will lose another 2 pounds and be right back to where I was before swim team and vacation.

All in all, I am happy with my progress, and I am not sweating the setback (After the initial "Oh my goodness!" shock of seeing the scale go up). I hope that this helps you realize that it is ok to take the vacation, live a LITTLE, and then plug back into the program when you get back! 2 pounds is nothing in the grand scheme of life. Not that I won't try to lose more, I just want to enjoy the journey and be happy with myself.

It will come eventually!

Any one up to trying Dr. Oz's Real Age diet that is high in fiber to help you lose the visceral fat in the abdomen? I am starting that next week. I will post a blog with what I am eating if you want to join me. We can compare notes. I plan on measuring my waist in 2 places before and after. Let me know if you want to try it to!

Sorry I was gone!

Sunday, July 24, 2011

Hi guys,

I was on a terrific vacation this week! I was completely relaxed, at the beach, and no worries! I love the beach so much that I want to live there when I retire. I will have to lose my last 10 (now my last 14) pounds to that! Being at the beach makes me hungry! I can keep my dinner portions good and healthy. It is the snacking that ruins me! I eat probably 3 extra times and it is usually junk. I justify it with "Oh I am walking so much more" and forget that being out in the sun and sea air makes me want to eat!

I need to figure out how to pend a week at the beach and not gain 4 pounds!

I am interested in hearing from you if you struggle with this exact issue and how do you deal with it.

I am not going to beat myself up with this - s0, here I go to change my weight loss ticker. See you tomorrow!
