I am about to venture in the world of full time student. This summer I finished my Associate's degree at my local community college, which transfers to the state university that I dropped out of many years ago. My last day at work is Friday.
For over seven years I have worked at the same company at a sit down job. I am about to transition to a much more active lifestyle - walking blocks between classes. I am sure it will wear me out at first but I will get used to it.
I have been researching the dining options on campus too - which have expanded and include more healthy options than when I attended so many years ago. They have a soup and salad bar as one of the options, and two create your own stir fry places. I plan to use these as my main lunches on campus so that I make healthy choices for food there.
Also, they have started a program through the campus fitness center called FIT First, where they make a workout plan specifically for you and also have nutrition and fitness education classes. I am going to sign up for that too. They even have a personal trainer available at a fee.
I am reall y looking forward to this. I know that I will be the odd man out, since I'm a decade older than most of my likely classmates. But, it's something that I've wanted for years and finally am making happen. Hopefully I can use this change to get healthy as well!
