Goals for Wednesday 10/22/14

Hello Fello Sparklers,

I've already accomplished a lot of goals for today!! YAY!

It's only noon and I've gotten so much accomplished today. I was up a couple of pounds this morning and that was disappointing but it's also TOM so I've heard from reading blogs that this often occurs when it's this time. Also, I had Chinese last night and the sodium could have factored into that.

I got my car repair (recall) done - all they did was clean off the electrical contacts - they said no other work was required - so I guess that was good. The other recall is still in limbo with no parts available. The salesman told me they might nix the recall or go forward with it but they haven't heard from the main mfg. yet. They were very friendly and even had Otis Spunkmeyer cookies and coffee out for the customers (to my downfall I had 2 cookies for breakfast)

Then I went to Walgreens and picked up an RX, then I went to my local insurance company so I could get Louisiana insurance because I was still under TX ins. so now I am covered in Louisiana!

I am still in a lot of pain and it even hurts to put pressure on my foot when I am sitting. The Xray should be back any day now.

Goals for remainder of the day:
1. Do a chair exercise
2. Do some housework

I'm Back From The Doctor's

Hi Everybody,

Well the doctor told me that I hurt my foot doing too much exercise! Prior to my starting my exercise routine I had been completely sedentary except for the occasional shopping trip & then I started working out 1-3 miles every day! (for several weeks in a row). Those who know me can attest!! So, that's no good on my body because that's 240 LB of pressure on my poor feet. So, needless to say I hurt my foot with all that pressure and pounding each day. So, he told me to stay off my foot and keep it elevated and keep taking Aleve. He prescribed me an anti swelling med which I haven't heard from Walgreens yet as to whether it is ready or not. Also, he told me to get an Xray. So, I did as soon as I left his office, about 10 minutes later I was at the local lab where the xrays are done and I will find out the results in a couple of days. (If there is a fracture or not).

Some people were telling me it was gout. THANK GOD it's NOT GOUT!

He told me I can get back to a (lesser impact) routine once my foot is healed. He said (something to the effect of) that I probably should have started out doing a half mile every other day and then progressively worked my way up to more as the weight started coming off so there wasn't so much stress on my body.

He also recommended swimming when my foot starts to get better.

    Running puts 5x your weight on the lower body parts. Just think how muscular your legs are, and how great they will look when you lose the weight!

Swimming is great. Just put your head down, and you're in a world of your own.

    Sorry to hear this. In the meantime: chair exercises, upper body work. I do low impact due to arthritis in my feet (broke both feet years ago) and arthritis in my right knee). I also work out in a pool: aqua exercise, which is easy on the joints.

But there are a lot of good options for low impact. And in the meantime, as I said: chair exercises: check out Spark (there's a team for that) and Youtube!

    So glad it isn't gout! Sorry about the pain though, foot pain is awful. I hope there's no fracture or anything and you heal up quickly and can get back to a little more weight bearing activity soon!

    I'm hoping with you that it is not fractured and happy that it is nothing serious. You will be back out there before you know it. You may even be able to do some of those chair exercises.

    Thank God it isn't gout! I'm sorry about the pain you're going through emoticon I hope you feel better soon! I fractured my ankle once (my ankle rolled and all 200 pounds of me fell on that poor lil joint) and keeping it ice helped a LOT. Get well soon! *HUGGZ*

P.S. I think you'll LOVE swimming - it's almost meditative :)

Hello Sparklers,

How are you today? Well, I called the doctor regarding my swollen, painful foot and have an appt. today - (finally). I just had 1.5 cornbread muffins for breakfast with water. Due to my foot I haven't gone grocery shopping so I'm really down to the bare min. in the kitchen right now. It's not fun!

Goal: Go to the doctor
Goal: Stay within calorie range
Goal: Buy some groceries
Goal: Finish up the dishes

    That's great you were able to get in today emoticon hope your doctor is able to treat your foot so it can feel better soon.

If you can go to a store with a motorized wheel chair, that would help you keep off your foot for the most part.

Goals for Monday 10/20/14

Good morning everyone,

Last night I baked Halloween funfetti cupcakes. Now, I just need to frost them and give some to my neighbor. They turned out good. I had one without the frosting. Without the frosting I think they are about 135 cals versus with the frosting about 291 cals.

I got a good nights rest last night. (no loud music) And this morning I am refreshed as can be. I am drinking my first bottle of water and debating on what I should do for the day. My neighbor on the other side is making us dinner for tonight so that should be a wonderful treat. I told her about my foot and she said it might not get better until I go to the doctor so I am seriously contemplating making an appt. for the doc. this week, if they have availability.

Yesterday the pumpkin patch was fun. We got one large and one small pumpkin. We will carve the large one closer to Halloween.

That's all for now. Have a GREAT Monday!

    Sounds like you had a good day yesterday :) I agree with previous posters - if it doesn't seem to be feeling better, you should call your Dr. Hope you feel better soon!

P.S. Way to go for the unfrosted cupcake and save those extra calories!
