A free weekend...kind of..oops, mistaken!

Saturday, June 29, 2013

We do have a baptism Sunday, but at least Saturday is kind of open. I did finish my exercises yesterday, I didn't expect to, but I just couldn't do it...not leave them go.

I got my exercises done today, though.

Wow, just heard a gunshot outside...and it's raining out, what are those people, idiots, it's pouring down rain and they're out there pheasant hunting, geez...some people have no common sense at all. Oh well, as long as they're not shooting at us, I guess. We live about a half-1/4 mile from a pheasant farm, unfortunately. It didn't become such until about 20 years after we built the house. The people are super nice, but still. I mean it's really pouring down HARD, I cannot believe anyone would be out in this stuff. *L*

Anyway, got my daughters books bought, she's paying us back for them, since she moved out I think she's finding out just how much we paid for with her. I handed her the license plate renewal for her car, her insurance policy which is due, and her life insurance payment, and reminded her that her school payment is due, too. She just kinda got a look on her face like.."wow". It was kind of funny, but we told her boyfriend, if she was moving in with him, they were responsible for their own bills, we weren't helping out anymore, and that's the way it was going to be.

She did have two jobs, but had to quit one because she's driving 30 miles every day to school, then coming home and driving to work, plus doing her school work, and having to go back and forth for school things in between times. We were trying to help her out somewhat, and she was doing what she could afford (she's a waitress, and you know how they get paid). Anyway, she's learning. Hopefully she'll get a job, once she graduates in December, with the local vet clinic as a vet assistant. So sad, she wanted to be an Equine Surgeon, but the Vet school in madison takes Foreign students FIRST, out of state students SECOND, and what's left over out of the 82 students they accept per year, is for in state students (something like 8-10 students we were told). And they don't look at whether these kids are going for poultry or large animal vet degrees (which are what are needed the most in the world), they just look at whether or not they're foreign or out of state! nice, huh?

Our daughter wanted to be a large animal vet (second most in demand) and then they wonder why they are in such shortage. Go figure.

Ok, enough of a rant, I'm done. *L* Sorry about that, but it is very frustrating. They have such a tough grading system, she made the deans list at UW-Whitewater, and where she's going now, she's had a 4.0 GPA, but at UW-Madison she was .04 of having a 3.0 GPA (which is needed to get accepted to the Vet School), that's the difference in the schools. So they sent her to UW-Whitewater, where she raised her GPA and still didn't accept her. Nice.

Guess the rant wasn't done, sorry again. *LOL*

Anyway, have a great day, everyone, you're all in my thoughts! emoticon (don't know why I used that, just did).

Cooler today

Friday, June 28, 2013

The weather is much cooler today, which is nice, it was actually warm sleeping last night, it hasn't been like that in a looooooooooooooooong time, but I enjoyed it. Made me wish the pool had been open, because I used to jump in before I went to bed, and it would cool me off and I could sleep well.

Went to the Opthamologist today, and he actually told me I looked like a person who didn't even have Diabetes for 30+ years. What a great thing to say, made me feel so good.

Found out last night that my husband has to work all weekend, kind of upset me because our daughter is the Godmother for her friends baby and we'd planned on being there for the baptism, now he can't be there, neither can our son because he has to work, too. I'm not very happy about this at all (my husband working). Joni (the mother) is like another daughter to us, and GGRRRRRRRRRR!!!

*Takes a deep breath*, oh well, at least Brande and I will be there, what can you do..he could have taken a vacation day, or even a sick day, but nooooo...

alright, enough of that, back on track now, I need to get my exercising done, because of the doctor appointment I missed doing them, so I need to get them done.

I hope the rest of you are having a great day, and an even better weekend ahead. emoticon

Time to relax...

Thursday, June 27, 2013

I so wish we had the pool open, it's so humid out, and supposed to be hot, but we need more than my husband and I to remove the cover. (The pool is 28' around, and 6' deep at the deepest, but with the water on the top of the cover, it's hard to pull off, we don't have the fancy reel to just reel it off, and if we did, it'd have leaves from the crabapple tree going into the pool, anyways. Those things are expensive...the reels, not the leaves *L*)

Anyway, that breeze is cool, but the temp is hot and humid, makes sense, doesn't it? Oh well, got my exercise done, and boy am I tired, I think I need more sleep, I'll catch up some day. *L*

I hope you all have a great day, I plan on it, reading 3 books at once, first time I've had the chance to start reading again, something I used to LOVE, so much so, that out of 80+ grandchildren (at the time, now there's 99+ that my grandparents on my mom's side would have had by now), my mom's dad gave all his books to me, because I was the grandchild who loved to read!

I have very old books of Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, and a lot of other books which I've kept since I was 13, and I've read all of them. I'm so blessed to have been given those books.

Anyway, I have to get busy and finish what I need to do here, then going to get my lunch and relax. Have a beautiful day, everyone! emoticon

I miss our pool but I got to point where I wasn't using it. But I did enjoy it for many years.

Too busy...still

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

Our son, Scott and I went to the Brewers-Cubs game last night in Milwaukee and it was a great game. Brewers won, 9-3 and we had a great time. There were lots of Chicago fans around, but the ones behind us were so funny and so much fun to talk to. What a great time, the weather was beautiful, the game was great. I'm so glad I had the chance to go with him.

I feel like I'm running around without an end to it. Our daughter called and wanted me to contact the harnass shop and the Tack store (both) and then my son called about buying tickets for a concert at the local fair, then my daughter wanted tickets (this was AFTER I'd already bought the tickets), so I had to call and try to exchange the one I got for 3.

I can't do anything and I need to get my exercises done!

I hope everyone else is having a much calmer day, and'll help you feel better!.

Learning Experiences

Monday, June 24, 2013

Well, the show went ok, but like everyone said, the awards handed out are strictly the opinion of the judge, and here they had only one judge. Most national shows they have 3+ judges so it's a more fair judging, but this one they only had one, and not one who is an "expert" in all fields of the pony pavilion.

In one class my daughter was in with her new pony, the ones next to her (who won 2nd) said they didn't even want to go up and get their ribbon, nor go into the grand and reserve champion field because they'd felt our daughter's pony should have gotten 1, 2, or 3rd, but instead she got nothing. Another told us that the one who got first had been a judge at another show, that this judge's ponys were at and because he awarded the judges ponies high, the judge reciprocated and gave him first. It's so sad this happens, but at least it was an experience for our daughter. I was proud of her, they did so well. And her driving pony, wow...but because the "big name" trainers were driving the other carts, they got first and second.

Anyway, back to the same old grind, I did a lot of walking this weekend, and didn't eat as much, so it was all good. I hope you had a wonderful week! emoticon
